- Here is an episode of the syndicated Hollywood Squares from the second half of its first season, with the main production difference being the car plug being announced prior to the start of the third game.
Great to see an episode with Charlie Weaver, Wally Cox, Paul Lynde and Rose Marie all there.
The big three Paul Lynde, Wally Cox and Charley Weaver. This is when the show was at it's peak. By 1975 it's only Paul Lynde trying to carry the show because Cox and Weaver both died unexpectedly.
I remember this show so often. I loved it everyday. And Paul Lynde in the center.
Seven out of the Nine “Hollywood Squares” from this 1972 episode are dead. Only Shirley Jones, Sandy Duncan, and The Master, Peter Marshall remain.
thanks for reminding us of that delightful tid-bit of knowledge
Shirley jones
@@alysononoahu8702 The Partridge Family,The Odd Couple and All In The Family were still on the air when this aired.
Wally Cox died at age 48 a few months after this aired. Charlie Weaver passed away the following year…😪
I cannot look at Shirley Jones the same after her book about the threesome she participated in. Some things, you need to keep to yourself.
When NBC was still giving tours in its Burbank CA location,I saw The Hollywood Squares set,and the game board was 17" tall!
Looks bigger!
Panel: Wally Cox, Rose Marie, Buddy Hackett, Shirley Jones, Paul Lynde (center square), Jean Stapleton, Charley Weaver, Sandy Duncan & Tony Randall.
Man I was thirteen in ‘72 and had a huge crush on Sandy Duncan,,😍
I was 95 pounds in '72 & had a huge crush on Orange Crush...
I miss the music as they describe the secret square prizes.
But I was glad to see Buddy Hackett NOT AS obnoxious as he usually is.
And FOUR lady stars! I don't understand why they didn't have four ladies every episode
Paul Lynde Wally Cox Charley Weaver ,made me laugh when I was depressed even now it does the same thing ! I forget my troubles !
Want to chat?
All on the same show: Edith Bunker, Sally Rogers, Felix Unger, Shirley Partridge, Uncle Arthur and Underdog.
Charley Weaver is the grandfather of all the Arquettes...including David and Rosanna.
Tysons' Corner still had the birds and the fountains when this happened,
Buddy seemed to be laughing too hard for some reason.
Trying to get air time.
Narcissistic

I wonder if the Vega is still running 😆
Mabe by some miracle or curse lol.
After 50 years? Hardly.
They make these Secret Square questions so darn difficult and stars are supposed to help contestants win these, not trick them and cause them to lose games or prizes in these.
Taster's Choice looks, smells and tastes like fresh-ground coffee? In what universe?
Can you imagine famous people bothering to go on game shows now a days? Their heads are too big, imo..
especially Mr. Potato-Head
Back in the 70's stars were more owned. They were on other shows that were horrible for them in terms of public perception. The only way a star would do it now is if it were for charity and they were with people of equal stardom.
I wonder if people who won Vega from this show trade that off for better car.
IKR!! Everyone that I knew that had a Vega absolutely hated it ,…also they sold their Vega and bought a Datsun ,..LOL!😅
A Cop stops a car the driver is told his tail lights are out.the driver gets very upset.the cop says calm down its not that big of a infraction.the drivers replies maybe not to you but when i lost the trailer back their my wife and four kids were in it.Ronald Reagan.
I love Jean 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Sandy Duncan was hotter than I remembered, LOL
O love Hollywood Squares
@ 8:39, FREDDY Hackett!??
When did they start playing the HS theme behind the fee plugs?
Shirley was cute!
Chewy bacon is more nutritious bc it has more saturated fat 😜
Trick question bacon has no nutritional value
@@allanroche8053 Of course it does. What do you think it's made of, water and air?
For some reason that host (Peter Marshall) looks a lot like Tom Brady.
It's the hair.
Or Gene Rayburns Siamese twin...
Why do they keep calling on Buddy Hackett on all shows? So many better people barely called on, in my opinion...

Tony Randall is so stiff in this show .
his date was thankful that night...
He's just trying to help people win stuff.
A lot of people are not good on this show. Paul was the perfect balance of funny, expedient, and answers the question.
Elvis impersonator
Anyone wanna win an encyclopedia now? Didn't think so
I'd love encyclopedias - reminds me of better times...
No internet back then or maybe even a library.
We had those exact encyclopedias so yes, I’d love to win some.
I still have my set of World Books that I got in the late '50s. Haven't looked at them in many decades.
I still have my set... somewhere. All the information is obsolete now.
