I just have to say to y’all that watch these videos that if ya don’t see the life lessons he’s a teaching us rewatch till ya get it. What a true blessing this channel has been to me.
The day of this video will stay with me forever. I was blessed with the chance to finally express my thanks and love to Richard Gene in person for all that he and momma Sue do for all of us. Standing there catching Crappie because of what I learned from the man, while thinking of him and he pulls right up in front of me! Best day EVER!! Thank you Richard!
I’m waiting on my wife to come out from work so we can head to the lake. I figured watching Richard Gene the fishing machine, will make the time go by faster until she gets here😏👍🏽
Richard I love your videos, their good clean family fun. You teach me a lot, I’ve fished for over 50 yrs an I still catch tips from you. Keep up the good work, tell Mamma Sue an Elmo hello
I love the true genuine excitement you display with every fish!!! I love fishing also but when I cant to get out to a body of water I feel like Im in the boat with you sir!! Thank you and God Bless!
Richard, I took my Kayak up to your neck of the woods on Weiss yesterday for my birthday. I skipped docks (well really just cast under them) and didn’t catch a single crappie. Either I just suck or the fish didn’t get the memo that it was my birthday. Probably the first option. I fished from the bottom to the top of the water column and hit about 8 different docks (you can only go so far with a kayak). I even saw shad. I changed colors and tried with a loop knot and a regular knot. This just makes me want to try even harder. Crappie fishing is new to me and I’m not giving up.
@@m17glock35 I felt a couple tiny bites but obviously didn’t get them. I don’t know if they were crappie or blue gill. Also my jig head might have been too heavy but it was all in 11-14 ft of water.
@@JonBecker81 1/32 jig head with a bobby garland is about a 1 foot per second sink rate (give or take ) . watch that line ! if it stops before its supposed to hit bottom set the hook! most of the time you wont see a twitch or feel even a nibble when crappie are in this kind of mood .
^^ This! I switched to a 1/32 oz and used this method 2 weeks ago on some stumps that I knew should be holding crappie. Had the best day crappie fishing I've ever had! Over 15 fish! When the bite slowed, I changed colors and angle, fished that same stump for 4 hours and had a blast. I also switched up between bobby garlands and crappie magnets, caught fish on both.
@@m17glock35 I just went and looked. I was using 1/16 heads with Bobby Garlands. So I’m guessing those fall about 2ft every second. These docks were in about 13 ft of water. I just ordered some 1/32 and I’m going to go back up there Saturday and try again. I was on the same lake Richard is on in this video. It kind of even looks like the same spot but I’m not sure. Good info here, thanks.
Your video production is excellent. Don’t change a damn thing. Even your music is great. You get me all fired up to bother my adult son and get him to go fishin with me. He never says no but then I don’t push too hard or too often. Fishing is the best and words get exchanged that make life wonderful.
Almost all the docks up here in Michigan are floating docks. I still fish under them skipping or shooting. There’s just less areas to do it because the pontoons or styrofoam blocks. If you do find an old fashioned post dock it can be a honey hole for crappie!!👍
Thanks for all the great opinions Richard Gene. By employing your technique advice I caught 5 keepers yesterday n 3 the day before that. His advice works folks not only on his videos but in applying them yourself!!!
we saw you at the boat ramp at yellow creek after shooting this video on Wednesday. you suggested fishing docks. we caught a few... which was more than we caught all morning. love the videos!
Thanks for showing how to tie that weed guard! I tie them on all my jigs now. I love maribou jigs and chenille/ rubber but I leave some bare for plastic. I love being able to throw them with confidence. Thanks for all the great tips Richard!

I always wanted to meet you and momma sue. And i got to today. It was so awsome. Best day ever. Jason Hamilton and me ( tish strange wants to go crappie fishing with you one day.
Great video, Richard!! Bursal says to stop fishing on his dock. He doesn't own the house above the dock, he is more of a troll that sits below the dock. But seriously, God Bless you and Mama Sue!
Hey Richard, member at time you went to the flyrod shop and you was uh castin' that flyrod and you said, "I'll be catchin' bass with this flyrod afore you know it!" Well, I'd shore love to see that in a video. Really would thare ole' Elmer!
I wish we had a few dock on pylons. Ours are on encapsulated floats. They put the darned things so close together you really can't cast between them. Can barely get by them on some of the larger docks in the area either.
Loved the video!! The more I watch content from both of y’all Scott and Hilary, the bigger my bucket list gets🤣 Fun, exciting, and wholesome. Great job guys, you as well Macoy!! I also notice and appreciate the work/quality of work you do Macoy. You’re loved as well brother!

when the crappie are slow counting down the lure is critical . 90% of my crappie are caught watching the line stop before its supposed to hit bottom.
