I bought my ‘03 back from a friend. He had cut the exhaust off at the cat inlet. Sounded just like this one. I’ve done a lot of work to the car, including 3” turbo back exhaust w/resonator only. That quieted the car down considerably. I still get some turbo noises and stuff, but nothing like when it was an open pipe below my feet. I prefer it with resonator only, it has a nice sound.
I have a skoda fabia 1.9tdi BLS I want this sound too, if I cut off the exhaust the same way, will the engine risk problems or anything ? Is there anything I should know? Thanks
The car doesn’t have a wastegate, but if you get on it and shift quickly with a manual, it will make a “choo” noise. I’m not sure what the noise is from exactly, but it’s there. Straight pipe only tho
Reminds me of a fucking semi I want one so bad but they all have high mileage. But once I get back from training im keeping my eyes peeled. Do you recommend the ALH motor only?
Don’t be scared of mileage. Be scared of lack of maintenance. 496,000km on mine now and doesn’t skip a beat. All you need for the noise is straight pipe it from the turbo back. Perfect amount of noise and whistle without sounding like a 90’s honda terrorizing the town
THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ALH STRAIGHT PIPE: it WONT sound like this from the cabin. I straight piped mine and the turbo can be heard, but only at slower speeds. I suspect the audio for this video was recorded near the exhaust rather than the cabin or they have a side dump potentially. The straight pipe sounds better than this in parking garages through. And yes I deleted the muffler and the cat, stock size pipe all the way back.
@@huntproductions6358 I forgot what size exactly but it was the stock diameter which I think was about 2.25 inches. I went with that cause I noticed on UA-cam that it the larger pipes didn’t seem to have any more turbo noise
Why’s it sound so much louder and better than mine. What the hell. Mine is a 2000 alh stage 1 tune with straight pipe and no egr. But doesn’t have this kind of volume. I must know!

@BMWE9XLCI-SE nothing at all to worry about. Go about your plans
Make a hole to downpipe
Did you put a resonator in place of the cat or the muffler or both? It's tempting to do both - I like quieter stuff, heh.
I find it hard to believe this is the stock sound but with a straight pipe. So much turbo noise! More so than most
I have an ALH TDI that's straight piped with the stock turbo and I promise this is what they sound like
@@ericmiles11 what did you do to straight pipe it? Can it be done on jack stands?

No choo noise? Still sounds good tho.
Love these downshifts
I'm surprised there wasn't much wastegate sound, usually it's really loud but I can't hear it at all.
Probably because it doesn’t have a wastegate
Kinda funny haha
These tdi’s got variable turbos..

Is your engine turbo stock? I've never heard a diesel whistle like that without being modified

with downpipe? or just straight pipe

I'm gonna guess he has a microphone near the exhaust
Yeah I think he has a mic near the exhaust also. My turbo noise isn’t near this loud in the cabin
You need to get rid of the cat for this kinda noise
What mods do you have on that engine
Or the straight pipe, how much inches is
What size exhaust is it? Have you noticed any drone driving on the highway?
Al stock piping used! Just replaced the components with stock size stainless. No drone really being it’s a diesel, a little but more rumble than drone
