Porsche 992 Cabriolet 2022 - as good as it gets

- Porsche has a long history of taking the roof off cars, and in the UK buyers cant get enough of them. But is a Porsche 911 without a roof going to match the class leading dynamics of a 992 coupe, and is a convertible of any use here, in the UK where a sunny day is an unusual day.
Well why not join me Roger Bailey to see if we can drive away in the very latest 911 cabriolet.
this car was supplied by Porsche Centre Chester,

I believe the world's best convertible is the one you can afford. As for me, 3.4L Boxster S is the best I've ever owned as a fun weekend car.
good point - Boxster S is sublime
How is the B for snap oversteer?
Brilliant review, Roger! And, being a 992 convertible driver myself, good choice at the end! 😊
thank you ! you have a great car there - Roger
loved the drone shots and overall a great review, I'd have a 992 cab in a heartbeat
Cheers Gary. Me too!
Another gem in the videos Roger produces regularly on my favorite Porsches. I’m lucky enough to live in San Diego and drive my 911 turbo s cabriolet every weekend topless in sunny 75 degree weather all year long. Trust me when I tell you there is no equal!
I trust you ✅
Completely agree… even in Seattle weather it’s such a joy to open that roof on sunny days like today. Mine is a 2018 991.2 ts cabriolet and I still love driving every minute with it.
as an everyday practical sports car convertible the 911 is impossible to beat, nice review
its the best all round sports car period, excellent review Roger, getting even better I think
Thanks 👍
I like the effort Roger puts into all his videos
Having recently driven a 992 cabriolet I can only concur. I was not expecting it to be a top class drivers car. How wrong was I. It’s handling and poise was superb. It really is a remarkable driving machine. Another absolutely fantastic video review which captured the essence of this 911 👍
thanks Gio 👍👍
Nice
Thanks
stella production as we've come to expect, you did more in the car presenting than the last video of yours that i saw, good stuff
cheers Jed, good to see you again
Cabrio vs coupe. The Lunt of a Cabrio is to allow us to ensure 3 the sunshine AG's chill breast during casual dining Inn the Charter m city. Obviously not when you're spending down the highway.
Also, while not mentioned in Cabrio videos is ..I feel they're 911s to be seen in.... With a supermodel Gf or wife.... More than being a single guy drinking alone.. the missing out 3 needed"ingredient"...
Do you live in a city where you have substance 8 months off the year it even ask year round??....
AG's an important question any first time buyer should ask WILL THE NOVELTY WEAR OFF IN A MONTH?? IN A WEEK???* Would you really need ok with arriving to your destination with your hair over your eyes?? Would you storyboard m supermodel wife appreciates having her$5000 hair all messed up??
I think a Cabrio is your 2nd 911.... For those special days were you are prepared to get your hair messed up.. Maybe lose your favorite baseball cap in the summer. Etc
Lovely car Mr. B. Though I don't think I could go for that Crayon colour. Though I'm not sure. It's... It's nice... But.... I don't know. _Hmmm..._
That aside. If I was in the position for another convertible (I used to have an MG Midget some 35+ years ago and the missus still 1has her Daihatsu Copen.) I'd probably opt for the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet. There is something special about the GTS 911's. They have that _je ne sais quoi._ A bit more special than the standard 911's but not as outrageously bonkers and license losing as the Turbos.
As for having hair problems with the roof down. I'm well past that. I have been for years. I now wear a baseball hat to stop my head from burning in the sun 8-))...
Great video yet again Mr. B. Trust you and Mrs. B. have a good bank holiday 8-))...
Your No1 Stalker ;-))...
hey TZ nice to see you, daihatsu copen eh? funky ! i approve :-) i agree about the GTS I have one on order but I'm told not to hold my breath for at least two years, - I'll need that cap by then, thanks for visiting, hope you and your good lady have a great weekend, RB & JB
@@RogerBaileyOnCars A 2 year wait!!?? Wow!!
In Germany we call it “the driving machine”. Unfortunately my English is not good enough to describe what German sports car enthusiasts want to express with this term. But I think you can probably guess...
Great work as always Roger!
We were lucky enough to get some time in a demo 992 (C2S) a while back and this video has brought back those memories.
Not sure if we’ll get the chance to own one, but watching this has stoked those desires for sure!
Thanks for the video and best wishes to you both 😀
thanks Ian, never say never, I hope one day you find yourself in one! best wishes R & J
3:21 Easy on the door, friend! lol. Love this car. For a daily driver/road trip car, it's tough to beat. I hear the seats are comfy, has plenty of torque and power, and it's gorgeous.
The seats in the 992 are pretty comfortable, definitely more comfortable than the 718 18-way seats (which are probably the most comfortable seats you can get in the 718). 992 also has quite a bit more interior space, but does cost nearly twice as much as 718
in terms of all round ability such as practicality, comfort and performance I agree this is the best convertible, 718 Spyder is the better sports car but this 992 is the greatest, excellent review thanks
Totally agree
it is good seeing a reviewer driving the car properly, like on track, now I appreciate what is being said about the performance and handling, great review thanks
i agree how can car reviewers properly know how a car handles unless they take it on a track
Much appreciated!
good to see roger take it on track but most people dont take their cars on track
ยอมรับว่าเก่งมาก มันดูสวยงามแล้วก็เรียบร้อย คุณจัดการปัญหาเรื่องความร้อนได้ยอดเยี่ยมมากดีมาก
don't close door by the glass)
Another great review Roger, I enquired about ordering a 911 cabriolet from my Porsche dealer and was surprised to be told there would only be a 10 wait here in Belfast, do you think that is realistic or do you think they just want the 5k deposit without delivery until much later?
Thanks for the great review
10 months seems quite good, I'd be surprised if a dealer is deliberately hoarding your money for longer than planned, however the Porsche factory does seem to habitually alter the proposed build dates - sometimes sooner but more often later.
Porsche is a top notch organization for sure and I never had a bad experience with them. That car can be improved only in 2 ways. 1. Bring it to California. 2. Install the steering wheel on the better side. 🙂 Great video for sure.
cheers Vic i wont argue with 1 & 2..
No,
The best convertible is the Boxster!
Automatic transmission 😢
Evening Roger! Hope your doing well and have a lovely weekend.
evening François you too
excellent production once again Roger
thanks
Absolutely brilliant review as always Roger 👍🏻👍🏻
thanks Dave, nice seeing you again
Brilliant video. Talking about differences w the coupe - are the 992 cab backseats smaller/ more upright than both the targa and coupe?
Well done Roger! I just subscribed.
great to hear that Keith, thanks and welcome - Roger
I love 911 in all iterations…except the cabriolet. The whole problem is a convertible should look better with the top down than up. But it doesn’t. In fact, the beautiful and timeless 911 shape is completely lost with the top down.
dont buy a showroom model from Chester POrsche - theyve been ragged around a track numerous times lol
open top - over many years went from motorbikes to sports cars to open top sports cars - difficult to describe porsche owner cab - its like the luxury of a car/ while if you want the performance of a decent motorbike/ oddly at high speeds suprisingly quiet and even in rain above 20 mph you don't notice the rain the aero keeps you dry / until you stop at a red light / also with the top down you have better sense of the road /you can hear things in an enclosed car you dont notice/ would keep a wooly felt hat in the glove box for girlfriend / but its a good compromise / top end models are nitro rockets but do you need that power if go that route be careful of your license - I would say a base model is more than most normal mortals could want / only incident had on way back to herts from central london / visited clients on seat pile of papers / gave it the beans and fifty A4 sheets of paper were left behind somewhere near northolt oh -------- / ooops .. nice review
Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!!
wow terrible !
Roger the porsche salesman
I do get a bit carried away with it sometimes :-)
Thank you Roger. It is a compelling offer for sure and certain. Best of both worlds really,
I'm never disappointed when I click on a Roger Bailey thumb nail, great to watch and interesting to hear, keep them coming.
Would you swap your Spyder for the 992 Cab? 😉
Great question Richard, if I were ever to relinquish my urges to drive hard and fast the 911 cab would be the much better all rounder, but that Spyder is the more exciting drive so its a keeper - best wishes - Roger
@@RogerBaileyOnCars That makes complete sense ! 👍
Very nice video Roger. Awesome car but I’d still take coupe.
Will definitely get my hands on one of this amazing machine!
Beautifully shot video. More tout than review.
Great video beautiful car love the 992. My dream car.
😍😍😘😘❤❤
That car, that colour is breathtaking
Thanks Roger, great little review 😊. I’m looking forward to my inbound 992 GTS albeit in Coupe form 🙏🏼
Good choice!
Roger, very nice video, thanks a lot! I have 2 questions: how is the internal noise compared to the coupe while driving roof closed? What is the difference to the coupe inside the car during cold winter times? Cheers, Burhan
In my experience indistinguishable on both counts
Spot on : it is as good as it gets
Great review Roger. I do prefer the hardtop for its lines, but my friend just purchased a 2023 Targa, which seems to be the latest craze here In the U.S. take care 👍
thanks Michael, Targas are ultra cool
Nice episode Roger. You answered the scuttle shake question in the 992. That roof a lot easier than a 718 Spyder. See you soon !
scuttle would not shake despite my efforts! see you soon
What's the diff in open air experience between this & the targa? Like the asethetics of the targa better but the cab may feel a lot better. Dont know.
Targa and cab feel the same when your on the move.
This is a superb review roger, I've always disliked the cabriolets look but not now I've seen this, brilliant
great to hear, thanks!
Gotta love the outro 😂
GRANDE PORSCHE 🌹 😘 👍 🇮🇹 🔝
Roger, what do you think of the tyre noise? I've heard they can be noisy on a road trip.
Hi Mark, road noise is a Porsche thing they all generate it, 911's, Macans, Cayenes, as does this one, its not bad, its just the Porsche trade off.
Another fun video, thanks Roger. Always look forward to what you'll do next.
thanks for looking in again Hallam Ring 👍🏼👍🏼
nice video my friend great car can tell you enjoyed driving it how lomg did you have it for
thanks Jake, I had this car for two / three days plus a stint on circuit.
Love this video
Well done old chap! Have a brilliant summer and cheers to you and Jilly!
Thank you Lerx, nice seeing you. Hope you too have a great summer, best wishes Roger & Jilly
Wouldn’t a Boxster GTS NA be a better car all round.
possibly the Boxster a sharper drive but 911 gets my vote here :-)
Thanks
911 cab will always look bloated in the rear to me; just not a good look. YMMV The spyder is art, on the other hand.
theres a lot to fit inside that rear end
Fair enough, but that doesn’t mean it looks good doing it. :)
Dale un poquito de brío, que eres más seco que una hogaza de pan de hace cuatro días.
¡Intentaré!
Nicely done...but what do you do on those narrow roads if another can comes from the opposite direction?
We slow up, move over for each other and smile as we pass by
@@RogerBaileyOnCars No prayer?
I have a 2022 Porsche Boxster 718 GTS 4.0L and I love dropping the top below 35 mph. My next car will be a 992.2, when they are released, 911 cabriolet.
992.2 will be even better, they always improve
@@RogerBaileyOnCars Yes Roger, the 992.2 will be better and more expensive, which I expect them to be. However, I just have 2,000 miles on my 2022 Boxster GTS 4.0L and the time waiting for Porsche to release the 992.2 version will give me more time to enjoy my 718.
I like the lines of the Spyder better
Much
Fab video Roger.
thanks Martin 👍
Save yourself $30,000, save on gas with a 500 lb lighter car. Get a better handling mid-engined Porsche. The 981 Boxster S. It’s built with the same engine, transmission and most of the interior. It’s built on the same assembly line to same standard of quality. It’s every bit as good a car for a lot less money.
Another great review Roger. Didn't realise that 1 in 3 911's are convertibles. Don't see many in Oz, TOO HOT, for the roof to be down.
One error, you said 'next to the sea' ?? Where is it?? 😂😂
nice to see you again 911 Aircooled, I noticed the lack of Cabs last time I was over in Oz - Brits love to drive them dreaming of sunny days ! - oh and I ordered the tide to be in for filming but it was a no show - best wishes RB
