Thanks. I understand you very well, for me too, the performance of this extraordinary oboist was a real revelation when I heard her for the first time.
Diana Doherty is an Australian oboist ... began studying violin, piano and oboe at the ages of 6, 7 and 8 respectively ... From 1990 to 1997, she was Principal Oboe in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra ... In 1997 she returned to Australia and joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as Principal Oboe ...
This work is very familar in some ways because a part of variation has been used for signal sound of a certain program for KBS(Korea Broadcasting System).
Here's one of few compositions of Hummel I didn't know yet, thanks for your choice of the day! The initial adagio is a masterpiece of peaceful meditation but also the following main body is not at all an occasional piece of music but gas got very elegant continuous flowing of oboe and discreetly accompaniment of orchestra, absolutely without easy-capturing effects, yet pleasant and easy-going nusiic. The finale is rather conventional but the overall balance of this piece is thumbs-up and well crafted. All in all pleasant discovery
Thank you, my friend, it is a work I really like, especially in this performance. Some sites indicate that this work is an arrangement for oboe of Nocturne op. 99. My opinion is that it would rather be an arrangement of Glinka's work “Memory of Friendship, Variations on the Nocturne op 99 by Hummel" (Glinka orchestrated Hummel's Nocturne) And now to smile a little: about 10 years ago I posted it on another site, and a friend (oboist) did not know either the work or Diana Doherty. He "fell in love" with it for good! (or, maybe, with Diana... :) ) A good weekend to you!
@@sibarit101 a great weekend to you too. BTW Diana Doherty is nice but I would not engage in an argument with her .... Her muscles are a serious warning ... Lol ... But she plays divine ...
Btw as it comes to the "ghost oboe concerto" of LvB .... www.lvbeethoven.it/woo206/ Interesting article I could find with also a few samples of how could have looked like, at least second movement and incipit of the outer movements
💝💝💝 Such a wonderful charming creation ... and the oboist Diana Doherty playing so beautifully ... Two discoveries for me with this upload ... TY 🌹
