I admire your dedication and stamina to ship everything from home. Must have been quite the experience and it shows other creators what goes into it! Cheers!

Haha. That is quite the operation you have there. Good work and thanks for the sneak peek. I bought some of the traditional labels, but will have to research the labels you mentioned that utilize heat. That might be the route to go.

That is very cool dude. I used to have a thing for a few years selling used textbooks, which went from garage to a mini-storage place, so I hear you about organization and labels and some of those logistics. But yeah, I'm feelin' you may charge an extra $1 next time to help farm out some of the sweat equity. (-: Looks good, lookin' forward to it.

Thanks for the insight. I've done self-fulfillment but only needed to ship 200 so it's a far cry from your operation where you've got 1500(?) to ship.
You mention organisation, but surely that's also required if you're using a fulfillment company?
Hopefully one day, I'll be doing things of your scale.
    Many congratulations!

I think it would be fun to ship from home (just once) if I had a little crew... Dang! My game is probably gonna fall between 1 and 1.5 lbs.

I'm considering using flat rate boxes for a very small card game with a small print run. I think it will take out the guessing game and surprises of shipping, and since the volume is so low, I don't think it's worth the investment of all that hardware. I'm shooting for 100 copies, and I think my max will be 500?
At 100 copies, flat rate boxes make all of us shipping cost under $700, boxes included, no surprises. part of the reason is because I detest USPS and the more I have to work with it, the more I hate it. Too much tape and the price goes haywire, wildly different prices depending on region, etc. just doesn't seem like the ink and printer and boxes and shipping will actually cost less than the flat rate, and the risk of it escalating out of control or USPS simply not cooperating would cause instant problems. it would be exactly the same for every box.
what do you think about that for a small run like mine?

1 - Do what you are comfortable with
2 - If you are under 1 pound, first class would be $3.65 in US. Tack on 35 cents for a small container. That's $400 vs $700 at 500 that is $2,000 vs $3,500.

A bunch of them might end up over a pound. You're probably right. I need to bite the bullet.
It pisses me off so much that there isn't anyone I can just go talk to that works for USPS and just get answers. Everything is made as difficult and unpredictable as possible.
      Man I hate USPS.

Have you tried giving them a call?

Not for this project. I guess my saltiness stems from my past small business enterprises dealing with them misrepresenting how much things will cost, not actually tracking anything, losing irreplaceable packages(from film to handmade knives) and claiming they were delivered to a locked box, losing mail dropped in their secure boxes, damaging things, and generally being unhelpful. I can tell you insurance is a waste of time with USPS. If you ever need it, you're not gonna get it.
But I will have to call them and be courteous and positive and pretend like they aren't going to do it all again, because the margins just aren't there to pay $11 a package for UPS. This is what I referred to as biting the bullet. I'd rather get a toenail pulled out than work with the postal service. I've done both.
