  • Here is one way to get your body filler work done a little faster. It takes several applications of filler to get where you want to be so this method helps to shorten that process. #bodywork #c10 #stoutcustom

    I love watching your work. Constantly reminding me there are no short cuts. No matter how long I have done this (long enough to know better), I keep thinking, "this time it will work." Nearing the final coat of filler yesterday I only filled the lows spots and BAM!! WAVY, wavy, wavy. This is dusty, repetitive, hard work and there are NO exceptions to slow and steady. Excellent channel

    Very nice information especially with the rasp. They take material off fast and flat sold in both curved & flat shapes. Just practice with these as you can quickly loose all of your filler onto the floor. Simply lite strokes under control, at the in between hard and soft. You have to find that sweet spot to remove the top 1/16".

    As far as keeping your sand paper cleaned out get a small wire brush. When the paper starts to get loaded up give it a swipe or two with the brush been doing this for years. I hate using air to blow things off in the shop. I use a rat tail brush on panels first then follow with a shot of air! I just did a square body bed and the place over the wheel arch corners must be a factory hump it turned into a bunch of work getting it all flat back to the taillight.

    I get so much great information out of watching your videos. And I'm just getting to the filler work on my project (though mine will never be as nice as yours) so the timing of this video is perfect. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    When I wiped my truck I did the same method you explained here. It seems as if once I started sanding and removed the very top "layer" it opened it up and the filler would dry even faster. It was workable...but its funny how it will dry at different rates! Good video sir! Can't wait to see it finished 👊

      When I did most of this it was about 85 degrees. Dried quick with little of the ideal work time. The next day was in the low to mid 70’s. Seemed like I had plenty of time to shape it before it sat up. Always changing for sure.

    Yes everyone would be amazed by how much harder they was putting into the mix after using a scale lol Have you heard if the mix is spread out on board instead of one pile it slows hardening process

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  Рік тому

      Hmmm I kinda sorta think I may have heard that somewhere. Maybe it makes more heat faster if it’s piled together? Not sure on that one. When I first started weighing the hardener I realized why I always ran out of hardener before the filler was gone, lol
