I have shown this little movie to my music students since 1978 up to 2020 when I finally retired. i wanted to see the kids - K to HS sit back and think while they watched this. The kids were always super quiet and there were plenty of tears at the end. It sure make them think... and we had some great conversations afterwards, too. If any of my former students find this, drop me a line and say hi! I have had this particular one on an old video for years - as I could never find it on UA-cam once they got started. The 'other' versions never came close to this one! So glad to find it finally! Thanks Ju
This is super hard to find, I've been searching for years. Hardly any mention of it on the web even, so this is super awesome that you uploaded it. Thank you so much!
Mee too, i search this along time to remind my childhood moment. Felt strong impression when the first time i learn to recognize empaty when I only 4 yr old
Thank you for posting this! I was searching in vain for this version and thought I must have just remembered wrong when I couldn't find it! Such a moving rendition!
I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to ju hatchi for uploading this (and part 2). The best version of The Little Match Girl. This beautiful child is absolutely exquisite and adorable!!! I love how sweet and polite she is no matter how people ignore or yell at her. It hurt me deeply to see her loneliness, poverty, neglect, rejection, and abuse. She left her house without a morsel of food or even a warm drink. For anyone who ever felt completely alone and friendless, this poignant story will give you strength and remind us to be more compassionate. I hope this version will never be taken off UA-cam; it's so rare that it needs to reach a worldwide audience. I'm overjoyed to stumble across this. Thank you again to ju hatchi!
I have searched high and low for this film for so long! So, my heartfelt thanks to the up-loader. I first saw this as a special telecast during our summer holiday's TV program for children on Doordarshan here in India. The story and depiction was perfect and it is still lovely to see again. I could never forget it. I'm happy UA-cam helped Ju Hatchi reach such an audience. Thankful and grateful to you both.
I had this on VHS as a child and like many others have said, I've searched all over for it! I wonder if I can find any of the other stories. I vaguely remember Thumbelina and Beauty and the Beast, and maybe even the Little Mermaid.
So terrified, my second grade teacher showed this to us just before Christmas! I have never been able to get this out of my mind. I literally still can’t believe I found this from a video about a *video game* 😭
My second grade teacher played this for us on a reel to reel player. I just showed this to my wife and she couldn't believe someone would play this for second graders.
I remember this from a video I got when I was a kid. It also had other fairy tales on it too. I've been looking 4 it & no luck. Would any1 know the title of this puppet or doll (Claymation) fairy tales video collection pls?
I remember the claymation version too. I search the Interwebz every so often but never find it. I bet you and I saw the same one. It was probably early 70s when I saw it, don't know how long it had been out -- they showed it to us at Story Hour at our local library every summer. :)
Why do we remember this from decades ago?
This is the best version of this very sad story. I can still remember watching this as a young child & feeling devastated when she died 💔
Wow. I remember watching this in elementary school in the gym during Christmas. The memories.

I’m in 5th grade and we read the book. I’m sure that’s suitable enough, but this story is cruel anyway
