Agreed, I thought of the same immediately when the presenter mentioned that the condo collapsed unexpectedly since the structure was weaker than expected, the implication being that it had such critically minimal structural margin left that normal pre-weakening and drilling for the explosives left it unable to bear its own dead load - so it's possible that in ten years time or whatever it might have collapsed on its own had it been left standing and occupied.

I wonder how many of these buildings contain asbestos and how often it's 'accidentally' overlooked. Removing the stuff is very expensive and I'm sure oftentimes it's illegally ignored because they know that any illness or death related to it would take years to manifest and would be impossible to trace back to them and their demolition.
In some cases the explosion site is sprayed heavily with water to stop a possible spread of asbestos. Not sure about the US but here all the alarms go off of they find it before demolishing it (blowing up buildings is reasonably uncommon here because the structures in The Netherlands are usually not big enough to do so, but also in the way of to much other buildings to do it reasonably cheaply. We did however try it with a quay somewhere, and screwed it up by using to much explosives, shattering windows and in a couple of cases cracking walls :P

A) It's "Dal - house - ee" for Dalhousie, New Brunswick. B) There was a power plant near me, at the Loring Development Center, that failed similarly to many of these. The stacks and first floor were blown out, but the rest of the building just dropped straight down, and stayed in one piece, sitting on the rubble of the first floor.
You forgot the old Canberra (Australia) hospital in the 1980's. When they blew it up a piece of debris that flew a long way killed a young boy that was watching.
I lived close to the silo in Denmark when it became demolished, and it did some damage on the nearby, former building for storing goods. on the harbor. But during the new use for the area, it became a library, far away from most of the people using it!

I was there opposite the lake but didn't want to wait around and went back to Sydney instead. Watched it on the news that night: they had used " a little bit" too much explosives and the people injured and killed had been on the opposite shore. Not suggesting that the ones making the list weren't interesting, I enjoyed watching it.

Led me to think
This legit needs a warning that you will see someone die. Heartbreaking to watch someone's last moments alive.
NO ONE can flawlessly demolish huge buildings LIKE OSAMA BIN LADEN!

I love watching successful and unsuccessful demolitions and implosions like these. Good video . I appreciate the narrative, too. Kudos!
As long as no one’s hurt it’s entertaining

I am in awe of a James Bond style escape made by worker on top of dam wall, ran straight onto cradle hanging from crane as he watches the wall fall drop below 😲
@Bryson Gamblin yes I watched the clip again, heart breaking!😪
The detailed explanation behind every demolition makes this video so much better than the mindless ones only showing demolitions.
Is it just me or does the narrator almost eerily sound like Charlie Sheen?
The Miami condos… damn.
When you need a building to be brought down, who you gonna call? Larry "pull it" Silversteinn
Always sucks seeing the Pontiac Silverdome being demolished. Lots of great memories there with my dad.
Yeah, but man was it an eyesore for a long ass time....
hhaha
Buildings built during the "dark" age: lasts literally a thousand of years.
Buildings built during the modern age: lasts no longer than 50 years. If so it is proclaimed a cultural heritage.
Thousands of years? The dark ages weren't even thousands of years ago.
@@SerErryk When do you think the "dark ages" were?
so you s*ck at math?
The old buildings that didn't last...didn't last
Bị nghiện bài này từ thời Bảo Thy, ko ngờ lại có ngày được nghe idol mới trong lòng mình Đức Phúc cover lại. Cảm ơn em ĐP vì đã cover lại lắng đọng cảm xúc như vậy
Great video !!

Thank you for sharing the video
That one guy in the suspended cage at the St Petersburg entertainment complex as it collapsed, was like 'Wah-wah!', to that other dude.
That poor fellow at 4:57. God rest his soul.
So exhausting to have to be skipping forward to the juicy parts
I’m with u, this guys talks to much
The unrelated cheesy stock footage is not a good choice of illustrating the story.
You guys know you can just get other videos of just destruction compilations
@@felixspaghetti2611 I agree, much more interesting to have some additional information about what is being shown.
A) It's "Dal - house - ee" for Dalhousie, New Brunswick. B) There was a power plant near me, at the Loring Development Center, that failed similarly to many of these. The stacks and first floor were blown out, but the rest of the building just dropped straight down, and stayed in one piece, sitting on the rubble of the first floor.
we love you you are at the coolest UA-cam channel
Not to be confused with the towers of the World Trade Center, that fell exactly as if the demolition had been planned.
Crimea "came under the jurisdiction of Russia"?? Uh, they took it by military force.
You forgot the old Canberra (Australia) hospital in the 1980's.
When they blew it up a piece of debris that flew a long way killed a young boy that was watching.
It was in 1997 and it was a young girl that was killed.
Sounds like simple history
Haha the silver dome all I can thing of is Michael cole saying ahh hogan this is the super dome hahaha
I lived close to the silo in Denmark when it became demolished, and it did some damage on the nearby, former building for storing goods. on the harbor. But during the new use for the area, it became a library, far away from most of the people using it!
Thank you Charlie Sheen for being the voice of this demolition video.
The demo company for the silverdome said the deadline was too soon and they had to rush to try to make it and missed something
They should have said “no thanks”. If they took the job knowing they’d have to cut corners to meet the deadline, then they’re at fault.
@@asterix7842 it's been abandoned forever also and they had to rush to get it ready for the day it was set. Move the viewing part back I'm sure the people can wait a few more days.
"You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off !"
At 14:00 is an omen of things to come.
That’s freakish. Should have been a sign and followed up on. ☹️
I reckon the Royal Canberra Hospital implosion in 1997 should have made the list with one dead and nine injured.
Yay we are finally in something.
"...The power company laid all the blame on the demolition company." OK I wasnt there, but I suspect I would hold the company responsible for demolishing it to blame for it not being demolished right as well.
I am from little village and can attest to the smoke and dust. I live on the opposite side to where the building was and the dust reached all the way over to us. It was crazy
Move to Canada, you'll have no problem living here.
I’m just amazed at how strong some of these buildings are
Strangely they're not using jet fuel to take buildings down. 😉#9/11

13:53... That building in Miami that collapsed on its own accord, are just like all the buildings in Miami. The greedy construction companies charge more money, but they build with really cheap materials, find short cuts, and hire inexperience workers. Casing point, Surfside Condo collapse and Florida International University pedestrian bridge.
Imagine having a rickroll on this video
I remember watching the Pontiac Silverdome being built....however at least I got to catch the bloopers on its demise as well....
911 should be no1
Yup
Sometimes nothing beats the good old wrecking ball.
Great Show
The answer to the video's last question: It's Chicago....would you expect anything else?
I am guessing the one person who died was the man seen scrambling for the crane basket in the St. Petersburg Sports and Concert Complex collapse at 4:55 as seen to the left. He missed it and rode that concrete all the way down! Yikes!
