The announcement was similar to one that was made at the end of an episode of The A-Team in 1985, where they stated that in the January 15 episode, they referred to a National Linen Company, a textile rental company that operates in the USA. The reference was imaginary and was not a representation of the real National Linen Company. They apologised for the confusion, even though in the disclaimer they spelt "apologise" wrong.

Wow, how mundane! I thought it was going to announce the death or a cast member or something!

This reminds me of that one time where BBC One had to apologise on air because they had falsely claimed on Fake Britain that Equisafety's (not quite sure how it's spelt) products were fake and didn't pass E.U. safety standards. They made it sound so serious, like they had to make an important announcement... I mean, the screen was blank apart from a basic ident, there was no music and it went completely silent for a few moments before starting... it was actually kinda creepy in a way, or maybe that's just me.
