That, by today's UK standards, would be considered racism. Racism with no penalty however. Many might airily dismiss it as a social and cultural more in the circumstances. Funny that. I had a Sikh girlfriend many years ago and she would never have told her father about me because I was 'white'. This illustrates that of course racism exists, will always exist it and is, I think by definition demonstrably wrong and should always be challenged wherever it exists, but to effectively 'institutionalise' and 'weaponise' it as we are apparently doing and have us all running around as if it's a modern day Salem witch hunt is utterly insane and, I believe, to all our detriment.

Disengenuous to begin with. This lady says she is South Asian, so she is from Indonesia or similar? I very much doubt it, South Asian is the repackaging of Bangladeshi or Pakistani. India holds the most southern part of the Sub Continent, have you ever heard an Indian describe themselves as South Asian? It is just repackaging a dodgy product.
There are 11 South Asian countries- this lady could be from any one. And yes, Indians do refer to themselves as South Asian. India is one of the countries listed amongst the 11. This is to distinguish South Asians from other types of Asians (such as Chinese people).
Literally Indians call themselves south Asian all the time Where are you from? In the U.K. Indians Bangladeshis Pakistanis Sri Lankans etc we’re always called Asian. Now more commonly used is south Asian to distinguish from eg Chinese Korean Japanese etc
@@KH-rr2dt I'm from Britain and this conversation is taking place in Britain. I lived for 20 years off and on in Bradford, West Yorkshire, which has a sizeable Indian but mainly Bangladeshi population. I've worked with Indians and Bangladeshi people. While both are obviously Asian, I never heard the term South Asian in the time I was there, which ended in 2011. *" Now more commonly used is south Asian to distinguish from eg Chinese Korean Japanese etc"* I still find this disingenuous. You are lumping Indians and Sri Lankans in with Pakistanis and Bangladeshis who don't want to be considered as the same. If you look at Pakistan and Bangladesh, China actually extends further south. You are using the term to differentiate people from the subcontinent from the Chinese, Korean and Japanese? Come on, Stevie Wonder can see the difference between those peoples. I've looked at geographic sites that are listing Iran and Afghanistan as being in South Asia, would I commonly consider it a term encompassing these peoples? Then again, whilst possibly technically true, would I agree with the assertion that as the same sites that list Cyprus in Western Asia that we call Cypriots Asians or Western Asians and not Europeans? It all still strikes me as rebranding the not very desirous terms of Pakistani and Bangladeshi as something else, or would being too analytical of that make me into a racist?
No, but if you consider being Bangladeshi or Pakistani as “non desirous” or “repackaging of a dodgy product” that probably shows up your racism. Or perhaps it’s Islamophobia. And now perhaps you’ll get into semantics about disliking all Muslims is not racist “it’s a religion not a race” The term south Asian definitely hasn’t been created by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis to hide their or rebrand their ethnicity. I believe The distinction has been made for reasons I described above. Yes most people will tell the difference between East Asians by sight names and culture. But they also are called Asian and this sub category differentiates. Whether they like to admit it or not, Indians and Sri Lankans are similar in culture to pakistanis and Bengalis. There are good people and there are bad people and lots in between, but if society actively allows you to constantly weaponise your skin shade then it's often just another in for bad actors, splitters and race grifters. Bombshell, but most people in the UK seriously aren't 'racist'. Most have far more real and pressing everyday concerns, but having this endless identitarian sh*t constantly pushed down their throats doesn't help. Lots of people from across so-called 'racial divide' are rightly concerned about the affects of unchecked mass immigration and that is a perfectly acceptable POV, particularly if they're the ones constantly and directly on the sharp end of its downsides. Let's, please, have a more grown up nuanced debate about this rather than forever reducing it to the colour of someone's skin.
That's not racism... that's tribalism or ethnic bigotry... these three groups are all the same race and there is bad blood between them so that's why that it is
'anti racism' comes from critical race theory advocates, which is racist in and of itself. Which is why she had such problems trying to pretend she wasn't a racist and then getting exposed as racist frequent and often.

@@berniefynn6623 Who is them? surely you have enough IQ to articulate yourself coherently. Put the far right posturing to one side and communicate like a civil human being for goodness sake.

2.5 minutes in and she contradicts herself. She says white people can't are privileged and so can't experience racism having just said racism is prejudice based on race. Good job trying to politely tell her she's a racist hypocrite but could have been more direct.
Of course 'white people' will (or should, statistically) be more likely to be chosen 'to go through the door' as white people are the vast majority of the population. For example, if Wales represented 5 percent of the UK population then they should be given a budget of 5 percent of UK spendature. That's fair. Numbers are not racist or discriminatory. If I lived in Japan for example, as a white person and a minority, I would be up against tens, hundreds, maybe thoudands of people going for the same job and 99 percent of them will probably be Asian. I would feel a bit rude and out of order if I started accusing them of racism if I was unsuccessful. If I expected them to hire me based on the fact I'm not Asian, then that in itself would also be racist.
The issue is more nuanced than (for example) if you chose to migrate to Japan to try it out. The reason the UK has a high ethnic minority population is due to its previous role as a coloniser/imperial power. Therefore it has more of a responsibility to accommodate integration, since its role within the Commonwealth permitted and encouraged migrants to come here.
@Meesha I wouldn't be surprised to find some sort of Scandinavian or African DNA inside me that was the result of some war or atrocity caused by a group of humans (maybe vikings as mentioned in the video), back in time that forced them to flee to new lands and everything stolen from them, killed or led into slavery. How far do you go back in history when seeking justice or compensation? You will probably find inside your own DNA that you belong to some ancient time when "your DNA based people" caused similar upset to another group of people. Should YOU be punished or due to pay compensation for things that was nothing to do with you and happened a long time ago? The real reason the government is encouraging migration is they hope there is another terror attack so the elite can step up the surveillance and intrusion into people's lives for "security" reasons...but the real reason is ultimate control by the rich over the poor. The best way to win a rich v poor war is to convince everyone its about black v white. Both migrants and natives are being exploited if you look at the in the bigger picture/The ultimate aim. By blaming "white people" you are falling into their trap and being used as a puppet....as well as being racist.
@@jascam74 Thanks for your thoughts Jason. If I'm honest, I think British parenting lacks the sort of very strict discipline found in Asian households. This could be a reason why offices like to hire BAME employees; not for the ' equality' reasons they spout, but to benefit from the Asian work ethic. Companies care about profit above all! Children of migrants have more pressure put on them from their parents as surviving in a foreign country gives you less of feeling of safety than someone born in a country where they are already the majority,so they have more of a need to prove themselves working harder. Maybe companies wish to exploit this. Maybe that's why Japan would rather hire Japanese workers- Japanese work ethic is far stricter than British work ethic.I agree that government policies surrounding migration probably do have more nuanced motivations.

But as the interview shows, we can still talk, and learn. Only if both parties are willing to listen and learn. Sharing a meal, or having coffee is a great way to start. In closing, I want to hit on a subject that came up in interview. "We are all the same" yes we are all the same. Either a man or woman, who bleeds red. The only difference is location location and location. And with each location comes differences in a culture. Foods, Religious beliefs, etc, then comes respecting that people for who they are, and from where. We are all human beings, and the respect starts there. Jesus said the greatest of the Commentments was, to love God with all our hearts, and love your neighbor and treat them the way you want to be treated. Life here on earth is, and when I get to heaven, I want to hear the words, "well done, my good and faithful servant". I want to use thus life, to level up to the highest level of Heaven there is. I want a front row set, in other words. No wish to be standing in the dark, with crowds of others, wondering what that bright light just passed over head was. So I will keep on trying to see good in all, until I see there is no good, and I step aside, praying I planted a seed. To short tempered now days, but I'm working on it daily. There is still HOPE for this world. Ok that is what I got from the interview, that was so enlightening to me. Hope I answered your question.

Her job may be BS but her babe status is 💯 legit. A shame she is brainwashed by the intersectional claptrap. Did she address the Indian caste system, for instance?
"Anti-racism" doesn't just mean "against racism." She either doesn't know or is misrepresenting the point here. It's common for these movements to use terms everybody has a common understanding of, that everybody agrees on, but in reality have a much more insidious philosophical meaning. And that's what she's just done... It's a way to literally 'bank' on people's ignorance.
No, we all have bias, even if we have a racial bias, doesn't mean we think we are superior to the other person. I for one am happy to be friends with anyone but if I am to have a sexual partner my very reasonable bias would be a female of my race.
Her smug & superior giggling tone drives me nuts, but OTOH fair play to her for actually taking part in a conversation, unlike the vast majority of her comrades.
All people possess consciousness. All people also have unconscious mental processes. Therefore all people have unconscious bias, and all people have the potential to be racist. If all people are potentially racist or have unconscious bias, anti racism can easily become being anti people, or at least some people. Far better to be pro harmony. Those who are privileged are usually the wealthy and powerful; those who are not privileged are usually the poor and powerless, irrespective of race. There is absolutely such a thing as black privilege - just look at Papa Doc and Baby Doc in Haiti, who lived in lavish luxury while the population suffered extreme poverty; not to mention the despot, Idi Amin. To suggest that black people are always the virtuous victims, while white people are all evil oppressors, is not only a far fetched falsehood but is, in fact, blatant racism, however conveniently unacknowledged, and defended.
Racism exists against all colours and creeds but is predominantly against black and brown but what undervalues racism is when a brown woman states being white means you're privileged. That just makes thinks so much worse and angers people, keeping racism going! 😧
i see the way the racism arguments are going and laws it pushes it underground, it has not gone away it is still just as prevalent as it was, i suppose you just cant tell people who they have to like.
She's another grifter, telling stories that get her headlines. Just a wannabe no-mark. Though, her headlines that make the Daily Mail tell a diiferent story (not that I particularly read the DM nor any paper TBH, just research.)
I think Laurence should have interrogated her on her interpretive frame - whether she is making claims about the world using a critical race theory AKA race marxism ideological frame of reference. For example, "[A] person who is a white technically cannot experience racism. [...] Simply because they are born with a privilege which is the colour of their skin." But why or how is skin colour a privilege? If she is using a race marxist approach she is referring to skin colour being a special key to unlocking access to a social status and identity that comes with economic, political and legal benefits - that is, skin colour is a special key to a property called "whiteness". That special access only white people have (because they are deemed to be 'white') to the property of "whiteness" is therefore a privilege they have, it is white privilege. That special access is unjust so "white privilege" is unjust. She says "privilege is a good thing" but fails to mention that "white privilege" is unjust and is not a good thing according to Race Marxism.. And Laurence should have unpacked her claim of putting two different people together "... one person person of color and the other person is white and you give them both the same opportunity [...] there is a bigger chance by statistics and facts that the white person will have a better opportunity ...". Is she attributing this statistical outcome only because of skin colour as a single or univariate cause?
From my experience, everyone is innately racist. This is the way the world is. We are built this way. No exceptions. That’s why there are a multitude of different countries with their own languages and cultures. If everyone would just admit this to be the case, we could get on with our lives without these ridiculous self righteous accusations, and pathetic bickering that’s going on.
Bushra was amazing here, very smart, eloquent and spoke well… We need to listen to other perspectives but presented in a fair and unbiased way I like this from Lozza
She seems really nice and I agree with most of the things she says but I cannot get on board with White Privilege, it's the term privilege. I think there are many white kids who are stereotyped and judged harshly and conversely there may be kids of Indian heritage or Japanese heritage who are judged more positively. It is very complex and connected to class/culture/socio-economic status. Also... I do not agree with ALWAYS subscribing to cultural norms in other countries, especially like Iran where there are human rights abuses and women are forced to wear the hijab. Culture isn't always right and protecting it can sometimes harm.
I could have defined that better… Racism is a term inconveniently broad in meaning. It includes KKK lynching blacks 100 years ago, and someone today pointing out that West African people are better at sprinting. Quite a range there. As I would have it: racism is any form of mistreatment of an individual (violent and/or verbal) on the mere basis of their racial origin. Just discussing a social phenomenon at macro level (ie most knife and gun crime in London committed by young black men) should not be called racist. It hampers an important discussion.
There is no priviledge based on the colour of your skin. People in countries where the majority of people have dark skin are racist towards people who have white skin in exactly the same way that people in countries where the majority of people have white skin will be racist to people who have dark skin. It is a human reaction to people who are different and is normal. That does not mean it is good but that it is normal. The problem is that it is only in predominately white skinned countries that people beat themselves up about it, if I go shopping in Asia they will charge me 4 times the normal price and say that it is because I am white, in my country I will still suffer because I am white so globally it is white people that suffer the most racism. There is no way that being white is or has ever been an advantage.
Ok she’s clearly educated and she’s very attractive. These things would afford her exceptionally good treatment anywhere in the U.K. Privilege is the unequal access to opportunities based on whatever attracts people to a person. The Pareto Principal is probably the best way of scientifically explaining it. You would have to do a multi-variant analysis to figure out what brings a certain level of privilege to a person but being well educated and being attractive are but two variables. If race is a variable too then privilege afforded to an individual based on race would depend on who offered that specific privilege. Being a nice person, having an attractive personality, being easy to get along with are also variables that afford a person some unexpected privilege. Also fame and wealth are way stronger determinants of privilege. If she and her plus one walked into a restaurant looking for a table and there was only one left and a way less attractive, common as muck sounding white couple who were poorly dressed did too I’d lay odds that she would be the one getting the table. If white privilege is real then I’d like to see how it’s quantified because I think, if it is, the level of privilege afforded to a specific race is insignificant compared to any of the other variables I mentioned above.
It is better to be white, all else equal, but there are *a lot* of other factors. Part of it is the fact it's a white majority country so everything is naturally geared to suit whites, same as in China etc. So things can be a bit tougher for a minority just due to that. There is a strain of racism still but it's generally low level, and yes minorities can have this too. It's part of living/raised in a country, no-one is truly exempt from influence.
I liked seeing this side of Bushra. I actually liked some of what she has to say here.

I had such amazing privilege growing up when I could see my own breath indoors because we couldn’t afford decent windows, being bullied because I had cheap second hand clothes, growing up with constant fear of being homeless because we couldn’t afford our bills, it was great 🙄 when I turned down a ‘man of colour’ in a club & got followed home being called a ‘white slut’. When my brother got attacked by 5 black men, causing a bleed on his brain, but being advised not to pursue the case as the perpetrators were going to accuse my brother or racism if he pursued the assault claim, even though it was caught on cctv. What amazing privilege we have experienced.

Literally Indians call themselves south Asian all the time
Where are you from?
And now perhaps you’ll get into semantics about disliking all Muslims is not racist “it’s a religion not a race”
The term south Asian definitely hasn’t been created by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis to hide their or rebrand their ethnicity. Not identical but similar

@@jascam74 (Also according to gov.uk employment data for 2021, 76% of white people were employed, compared with 67% of people from all other ethnic groups combined. White people seem to be doing fine employment wise)
@Meesha yes but if you are going to hire someone based on their ethnicity alone, by assuming they are a certain way based on skin colour or ethnicity, that's racism again whether it's applies to white brown black whatever.
Everyone is an individual.
I do agree with what you are saying to a point regards to discipline, but you seem to suggest it's OK for a company to make racial stereotypes when recruiting its a positive stereotype but not if its a negative one.
Either way, it's still racist to stereotype someone based on their skin colour or ethnicity, good or bad, black or white.

I'm going to help her get it, once I'm healed.
I'm under the opinion, my government is setting out to force a race war here. A skin color race war. Which I rebuke back to hell, every time I see or hear something. My circle of friends is many colors, and I know for a fact, when the younger ones, call me Momma Kay, they know I do love them. ❤️ And I pray, they always see me as a mentor, someone older to look up too.
This interview gave me hope, that we can still have a civil talk with others, different cultures than us, and LEARN. Governments around the world push Racism, we are pawns. They see me as a pawn, but what they don't see is an OLD REBEL, QUIETLY AT HOME, REBUKING THEM BACK TO HELL, WHICH THEY CRAWLED OUT OF.
Laurence reminded me of a time passed in this interview. It was visual hope, we can once again, be free to speak, without someone getting their feelings hurt, or offended by the most stupid of things.
I have been so blessed, to not have a man walk into a bathroom, I'm using. That would not go down well for that man. My late husband trained me well, in using my hands, feet and knees. Being a licensed PI, we worried about my safety, It is still a joke, with family and friends the fact, I have not been locked up for GIVEN A MAN THE KNEE. Which is not funny at all. More government crap, to stir the pot. Thank you obama for that. NOT.....
I now, will not waste my time, trying to talk to others who feel differently than I do.

Yes. They use common terms but have a different dictionary.
She certainly doesn't sound "anti" to me..She has just described herself as being racist but not aware of it. How funny.
Racism exists against all colours and creeds but is predominantly against black and brown but what undervalues racism is when a brown woman states being white means you're privileged. That just makes thinks so much worse and angers people, keeping racism going! 😧

Are they ever going to eat those sandwiches? You mind if I have a wedge?
Stupid discussion, stupid comments, don’t waste your time.
Let's start with the big one... 'are you single?'

There's no advantage in being white jazz musician
Bushra looks nice
At last a serious discussion in a cool way about race
Why are the indigenous population not given special status and privilege as they are in the USA for example
So there's no such thing as black privileges?
Thank you so much for this conversation 👏👏👏💗🇦🇺💕👍
Oh I wish I could see more of this conversation.
Of course I disagree with her def of "anti-racism" as it is in practice and her belief white people dont exprience racism or lack or privilege. However this was very refreshing and we need more of this as a society. Pls do more amicable interviews like this over the harder topics. Like another commenter I'm curious on Bushra's take on how the grooming gang scandal was handled regarding putting the rapists first on account of their race what she makes of the 14 white musicians who were fired to make way for diversity hires during covid.
