I don't know why hardly anybody reacts to this mixtape. They only react to Joke, but miss out on Rush, Life, Adrift, SO MANY great tracks that go under the radar. The talent was there, even at 20! You missed out God Rap?? When I heard RM's latest album RPWP, that immediately transported me back to this mixtape. It has the same energy and rawness. And the little 'Hoo Hoo Hoo' you thought you recognised, that sounds the same as in Come Back to Me from RPWP. I just wish this was on Spotify!!
This is an absolute treat! RMs first mixtape is a deep cut very few reactors check out, and I think they are totally missing out skipping it. 21 year old RM was a seriously formidable amazing rapper. The BTS rapline have reignited my love of rap, which had faded since the 90s (yes I’m ooold). He mostly used other rapper/artists beats on this but did a phenomenal job with his lyricism and flows. My biggest BTs annoyance is this is only on SoundCloud and I need it badly on other platforms but alas. The variety of songs is great, my favorites are Monster, Throw Away, Too Much. He only performed a few songs off this live ever, Throw Away has one mad live set he did as a featured rapper at an all rap show Air Force One, he was nervous to perform without BTs so the other two rappers Suga and JHope backed him up performing a raw underground style with him. Highly annoying only a cell phone cam of the show lives on UA-cam it’s pretty good but you can see the three go insane live for like 20 mins. All 4 of his albums are amazing and different. He’s the central pillar of BTS. 💜💜
RM wrote Joke literally to make a point ... saying that it doesn't matter how fast you rap if your lyrics are nonsense....but I can do it... here you go !... hahaa I just love him... he is so intelligent when he writes...
RM's progression as an artists is beyond amazing! He started as an underground rapper, his influences are at the core of hiphop culture and history bc he truly loved and studied hiphop, the ones he mentions in their track "hiphop lover" are - Nas (his muse) - JayZ - Snoop Dog - Pharell Williams - KRS-ONE - Biggie - Dr. Dre - Gang Starr - Pete rock and CL smooth - Rakim - Eric B. - Black star You will love following his artistic growth. His latest album Right Place, Wrong Person is a masterpiece. The most critically acclaimed album of all BTS members solo releases. You should really go through his discography and experience his journey
RM actually faced a lot of hate for being an Idol cause he used to be an underground rapper, and they hated him because they think being an idol conflicts with the rap and hip hop culture as it is widely known idols don’t contribute much in their music writing and production. Thats why he sounds a bit angry in this album, he talks about the emotions he’s going through at that phase of his life. Now RM has moved from that topic and you would notice ones you listen to his other albums. Thanks for the reaction, hope you find inspiration through what you do 💜
I’m so excited that you’re reacting to this. RM is my bias and I’ve been listening to his RPWP nonstop, but it’s a real treat to return to his beginning music with you. Thanks!
RM kinda went through hell to create this mixtape. It's awesome that you love it as much as I do. I still put it on spin from time to time after all these years. Although right now I'm obsessed with Right Place, Wrong Person. It's probably RM's most ambitious project so far. People are already talking about the Grammys, at least a nomination. Look forward to your reaction when you get there
I don’t know how much you know about mixtapes but rm’s first one was very much a proper mixtape aka he took beats from other hip hop songs and put his own lyrics on top, this is why it’s not on streaming platforms he would have to pay for the copyright of the songs but it’s an excellent mixtape and I’m sad that everyone seems to forget about it just because it’s not on streaming.
Love it, thanks for react to Namjoon's music, he is the most underrated member in bts and the most talented man in there, my favorite from far cause you can see his growth... ❤
It's so interesting to listen to his first mixtape and then listen to his most recent album RPWP. It's so cool to see how much his music has changed and evolved.
At that time they were bullied, there was a lot of hate towards them. Bang Shihyuk recommended transferring all the emotions into music. That's how this mixtape appeared. As RM said, he felt uncomfortable with some of the songs! They always get a lot of hate. Look at what's going on in Korea now, how they're harassing Jung, even though he's a world celebrity.
Thank you for reacting to RM !! I would recommend doing more of his albums if you enjoyed this one and I also recommend doing it in order so next is Mono (2018), then Indigo (2020) and the latest is RPWP / Right Place, Wrong Person (2024) i can guarantee you that it will be a wonderful journey for you 🥰
Man i really love BTS's older work. They had so much more hip hop influence in their music. The first mixtapes they released and the two Most Beautiful Moments in Life albums are my favorites of theirs BY FARRRR!!!
