Not just privilege, it's also confidence, openness, knowledge, interest & control over their musical route. Rm & bts members proved during their solo era that they can do the music they want may it be pop, ballad, jazz, rock, rnb, rap, or even this mixed of an album. This is my album of the year. He worked on this album with San Yawn of Balming Tiger. Check out their stuff, too. It should open some more doors. Check out his mixed tape Mono, and his album Indigo. Also, Namjoon often shares his musical recommendations and one he shared was Hyukoh and Sunsetrollercoaster recent collaboration. Another phenomenal album. He celebrates his friends and colleagues. Namjoon is one of a kind.
I just love that while listening to the different tracks and watching their mvs you feel lost and sometimes don’t get the lyrics or the mv. It just really makes one interested in what is going on/happening and what’s the meaning. Also I like that it’s sometimes hard to understand the lyrics or mvs because feelings or thoughts are often very hectic and complex too. And I’m feeling that all this confusion is supposed to be something we feel because that’s what rm intended. Which I have to say if it really is like that is actually very cool and different from other albums.
I loved the journey that is this album. Keeps me interested and curious the whole way through even with the parts that are not necessarily what I would usually gravitate towards.
Woow! amazing how Domodachi is Controled chaos for you but for me just late 60´s fusion according to my cultural background---Let´s remember late 60´s were highly experimental in art.
Could you also do a full album review and reaction of RM’s Indigo? And his live performance at Rolling Hall, too? That place is special to him because he dreamed about performing there when he was just starting.
You should also listen to his creative choices and inspiration behind each song in that album Indigo because he has an interview called Indigo Album Magazine Film
The whole album is masterpiece. I remember how I amazed when hearing every single song for the first time. Anyway you react his album coinciding with the release of this album's progress documentary☺️ I love it
If you loop Around the World in a Day while listening to it with good quality headphones, it actually sounds like a restart of a day cause the music ends with an evolved version of how the song started. So it’s like starting a day with a cup of tea where your brain needs a stimulation and ending with an overloaded brain from the day's events and then going to the next day. It is my most favourite song in the album! Thank you so much for your reaction to RPWP. 💜
It's crazy how Joon's solo works always get better and better, I don't know how he does it. I remember thinking Mono was so good but then Indigo came out which I thought couldn't be topped, and the rpwp came out which is clearly album of the year .. he's so talented.
Yes I believe his documentary will be about him working on this new album.RM does actually play the saxophone in the military band. This album definitely took me a few listens to really appreciate it,this is definitely not something I would normally listen to myself. You should listen to his and Jimin discussing each others albums it’s called MMM Mini & Moni music . They talk about the songs and kind of where they were at during the time . It’s a 2 parter it was very interesting.
oh i love this album with all BTSArmy heart can wait for his documentary come out on cinemas, globally and willing to travel if no play in my town... please pray for us in FL
I'd like to add that ㅠ is a Korean character, like a vowel, not just a crying symbol, that makes a "yu" sound, and then Koreans use this character as a crying emoji, 😭 = ㅠㅠ = "yu yu"
If you had listened to his first solo album Indigo before this (his second) album, it would have put things into perspective more. But still thanks for the reaction! Highly recommend to react to whole Indigo album. It is musical and lyrical masterpiece! Still my favorite album of BTS solo albums.
Sharing this article written last June that encapsulates how extraordinary Right Place Wrong Person truly is. Title: "The Grammys need to ditch their K-Pop bias and consider RM’s ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ for their biggest award" It's never too early for Grammy talk By Francisca Tinoco Published: Jun 12, 2024 This year in music has been one of the busiest we’ve seen in the past decade. The biggest names in the industry have, are, or will be putting out new albums, setting the Grammys up to be an absolute bloodbath. Yet still, there should be space among the nominees for an underdog, a wild card. RM‘s Right Place, Wrong Person album is easily one of the best productions to come out of 2024. It’s an experimental, boundary-pushing, fresh, conceptual hip-hop project with something to say. Across 11 incredibly distinct tracks (including three interludes), the 29-year-old rapper - who’s currently completing his military service in South Korea - lets loose on topics ranging from romantic heartbreak to the pressures of his status as the leader of the world’s biggest band. The disheveled nature of the album’s production reflects RM’s marked refusal to conform to the neat and proper confines that the country’s media, cultural, and political forces have long attempted to force him into. Sonically, Right Place, Wrong Person keeps the listener on their toes with constant twists and irreverent instrumentation, while never losing the groove and coolness that has come to define the rapper’s solo music. In short, it’s an album that is very clearly deserving of critical and institutional attention but frustratingly is most likely to not get much of either. It received positive reviews from magazines like NME and Rolling Stone and turned the heads of a few online critics like theneedledrop’s Anthony Fantano, but did not make as much noise as a similar release from a Western artist could have. As with any release from a BTS member, powered by its tireless fanbase, it was fairly successful on the Billboard charts, debuting at number 5 on Billboard 200 and at number 1 on its Top Rap Albums chart. Frankly, Right Place Wrong Person has everything working against it. Rap albums and artists of color (especially those not from the U.S.) aren’t the Recording Academy’s preferred genre or demographic as it is, but to make matters worse, RM comes from a prolific pop boy band, a category the Grammys typically and traditionally like to ignore. That is why it was an achievement in and of itself when BTS were nominated - three times for their music, and an extra two times for their feature on Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres album - especially considering the animosity the American music industry usually reserves for anything that is non-Western. Even then, the band was pushed towards the same category every time, one that’s far from being among the Grammys’ most important - Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - and still didn’t win it once, despite meritorious chart performance and cultural impact. Oh, and only their English-language singles were ever considered, despite their Korean-language music being far superior in quality, and actually written and produced by the band members. The difference was that the band’s fan collective, known as the Army, was simply too large and loud to be ignored, making it impossible for the Grammys to quietly shun BTS like what happened with the likes of One Direction in the past. With RM, however, it is far trickier, even if Right Place, Wrong Person is arguably bolder, more mature, and more interesting than BTS’s radio-friendly repertoire. The name brand is simply not as resonant as BTS’s and the appeal of the music, especially after this more alternative attempt, is narrower. An artist and an album need to build and keep momentum to even cross the hairs of the Recording Academy come Grammys nominations time. With RM unable to campaign for the album in person and the fandom dispersed, it’s hard to imagine a future where Right Place, Wrong Person is featured among the list of nominees, even if it’s just as deserving as the albums that will be. Right Place, Wrong Person is Album of The Year material, but it might not even pick up Rap, Pop, or R&B nominations. Still, if RM ever comes to receive the acclaim and prestige he is owed, this article may serve as an artifact of a time when he was unjustly overlooked.
God if anything deserves a Grammy it’s this album 😭 like at the very least a nomination. It’s one of my favorite musical bodies of work in the last decade, and I listen to a LOT more than just bts and kpop.
"sonic sculpture "- that's such a great description of RM's work! He would love to hear this - RM is a passionate art supporter. This was very interesting!
It's okay, BTS members are not teenagers anymore. They are grown men soon to have a life of their own, I am sure we don't mind if you are not PG, RM is definitely not PG 🙂
On the interlude, it's JD Beck on the drums! And also Domi on the keys Also, San Yawn, who worked with RM on producing this album, is part of the band Balming Tiger, which he collabed with on "Sexy Nukim". If you have time, I truly recommend reacting to them! You'll realize the sound of this album truly is San Yawn's sound. Balming Tiger is an amazing group
hell yeah!! thanks again for listening to this album (i know i was one of the more active commenters suggesting this lol), was so nice to watch the morning before a 12 hour shift. RPWP is easily one of my favorite albums of this year. looking forward to your nightwish reaction coming up soon! 🎉
I love this album. It scratches a particular itch in my brain I didn't know I had. Something about it is so completely immersive and addictive. Like my morning cup of coffee, without which I can't function, this album has been a daily need for that itch since the day it came out. Seriously, I listen to it daily and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. This reaction was fantastic, but like others have commented, I wish you heard the transitions between the songs. They add something extra special to the experience.
I loved their reactions, RM is a genius and the whole team that worked with him, if you can, you should listen to Indigo, RM's previous album, it's very beautiful, it doesn't have all this mix of experimental sounds like RPWP, but it's still great.
RM ALBUM RPWP WAS NAMED ALBUM OF THE YEAR BY BILLBOARD,NME , ROLLING STONES,AP AND THE GUARDIAN 🔥 NO ONE EVEN CAN COMPARE TO HIM OR MATCH HIS ARTISTIC VISION 💙PLEASE REACT TO INDIGO AS WELL IT'S A MASTERPIECE ❤
Pls React to the entire Wings album, I like this dynamic of reacting to entire albums, this way some BTS gems that don't usually ask for much don't go unnoticed, I hope you can also react to the whole era of LOVE YOURSELF (There are three albums)
You really need to listen to it as a whole. Even the timing and transitions between songs is deliberately paced and thought out. "Genius' is right. It feels random but is so RIGHT! The album is his journey into accepting the imperfect nature of life. Almost like curating the chaos in sonic form. His last song is him telling us and himself to come back to his true self after this journey. I love it.
Thank u guys for reacting to the hole album, RPWP its a masterpiece from RM, they were a lot of negative when this came out cause it is different, experimental but also so clever at another level that doesn't go on the normal streaming music. I'm so happy that the album, MV and now the documentary it receiving the recognition it deserve. The Album its on the list of the most smartest album on 2024 and RM was so open with type of music, he really challenge him self and he nailed it.
I'm so in love with this album it's 100% my kind of music, but I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't find it accessible. I'm obsessed with it though! Ever since RM's first mixtape in 2015 (also a banger) I always had a feeling there was something more raw, unfiltered and experimental to come in the future... but then BTS got unexpectedly popular beyond their wildest dreams, and they were suddenly in the brightest spotlight imaginable with vast amounts of pressure weighing down on them... this album feels like a big release of tension, with RM finally coming back to his roots, but with 10 years more perspective and maturity.
RM found the musicians to play the music. When it comes to the instruments, they are live musicians. We saw videos of that. Some of the greatest independent musicians. Have you ever been to a jazz bar?
I feel like this is RM's version of The Beatles' Revolver album...super experimental and just recording what feels good in the moment. Right Place, Wrong Person is the epitome of sonic art.
I was working so I could not participate but I am here now. Love the creativity and risk-taking on this album. Each of them took their own risks and went where their artistry called to them. Love this album, Jimin's, Tae's, JHope and Junkook. Can't wait to see what Jin gives us.
aw i overslept, been waiting for this. thank u richard and johny for the appreciation. Namjoon is exceptional, i still listen to his mono album. this album is kinda different but it served.
Moses sumney is so fitting in this album because he is one of a kind… he made albums all by himself. He loves to experiment as well very creative artist
Gracias a Dios se alejó de las formulas aburridas de kpop y de pop wester. Si había un músico que podía tener fe que me podia sorprender ese era él y no defraudó❤
I love this album & it feels to me like a Kim Namjoon platter or buffet... a smorgasbord of songs. I'm not a musician, so I can't pinpoint why, but every time I hear Heaven, I hear echoes of The Beach Boys Pet Sounds album, which is another favorite album.
I think many artists can experiment with their sounds esp if they are at the top of their game BUT what we get is the very artistes at that top echleon who stay away from expanding their sounds...and if they actually do try then the usual reaction is less than enthusiastic or downright condemnation. The ones who do experiment are lumped into a non described category called "alternative". Namjoon may be a top name in kpop but doing this album is literally suicidal whether in kpop or universal music scene....but he just showed supreme guts....smart storyboarding....his usual poetic lyrics.....and super experimental instrumentation.......listening to RPWP feels like a surreal scratching of that sonic itch in your brain......so many accomplished artist want to do that but very few attempt it and do so well.......RPWP is that rare masterful piece of work that makes real artist cringe with jealousy....
RM's learning to play the saxophone in the military, yes! V learned it before he got into BTS. Did you not watch them greeting Jin coming out yet? #Free_BTS
Hi guys! It's nice to see you guys reacting to RPWP. It's such an amazing album! P.S.: It would be nice if you guys listened to the studio version of "Nuts" since the MV is a live version that I loved, but since you guys have already watched it, the studio version would be a nice choice 😊
? (Interlude) really lends itself to the style of Me'shell Ndegeocello's "Peace Beyond Passion" album. It has the same vibe. RM really outdoor himself on this album. It's been submitted for Grammy consideration. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves as a true music artist. Thank you guys! I really enjoyed your album review.
I came late, but early enough to see the full reaction. Thanks for your full reaction of the album. I only wanted to add ..the musicians that helped Namjoon with the production did live covers from both songs: SUNSET ROLLERCOASTER-COME BACK TO ME y SILCA GEL-LOST!. Both are so good too if you wanna check those
Is was such a journey to listen to. I think this album was really freeing for RM. he needed to find himself, his own voice outside of being RM of BTS. He was going through a lot at the time, and he needed to disconnect from the stress and expectations of BTS, to reconnect with Kim Namjoon. The result is this amazing album that just feels like he let go and let himself be himself if that makes sense. I would recommend you watch MiniMoni. It is 2 shows that is just RM and Jimin playing their albums for each other and talking about the inspiration for their albums. It is really amazing and gives you a glimpse of their thoughts and feeling during the time making these albums. The first one is RM playing his RPWP for Jimin, the second is Jimin playing Muse for RM. the time for RM was especially difficult and you just feel for him, and Jimin is such an amazing listener. He just understands RM, and has such empathy for him as well as all of the members.

And I’m feeling that all this confusion is supposed to be something we feel because that’s what rm intended. Which I have to say if it really is like that is actually very cool and different from other albums.
I just really want to know what rms thought process for this album was like. He is such an interesting person and I would like to understand him
I loved the journey that is this album. Keeps me interested and curious the whole way through even with the parts that are not necessarily what I would usually gravitate towards.
Agreed!
It's cathartic isn't it, this album? I loved it so much when I first heard it, and I still feel the same 🎉🎉🎉💜💜💜
Woow! amazing how Domodachi is Controled chaos for you but for me just late 60´s fusion according to my cultural background---Let´s remember late 60´s were highly experimental in art.
@throga i didn´t see this comment but he plays the Saxophone
Could you also do a full album review and reaction of RM’s Indigo? And his live performance at Rolling Hall, too? That place is special to him because he dreamed about performing there when he was just starting.
You should also listen to his creative choices and inspiration behind each song in that album Indigo because he has an interview called Indigo Album Magazine Film
They did this last year! During one of their lives I think
1:10:52 "This hole song is a Journey"... The song is called 'Around the world in a Day'', RM managed to make us feel exactly what he wanted.
Thanks for doing the whole album. I am not into rap much either. But there's something about RM that totally grabs me. Indigo is my favorite though
Thank you, such a greet reaction if RM watch that he'll so proud that you catch every single detail in his music
I love this album, our RM was going through things and he poured it into this creative beautiful piece of art💜
“Humanity in music” ❤
If you had listened to his first solo album Indigo before this (his second) album, it would have put things into perspective more. But still thanks for the reaction! Highly recommend to react to whole Indigo album. It is musical and lyrical masterpiece! Still my favorite album of BTS solo albums.
loved the reaction to RPWP- this masterpiece has garnished so much recognition and I’m happy y’all made time to react ☺️
Sharing this article written last June that encapsulates how extraordinary Right Place Wrong Person truly is.
Title: "The Grammys need to ditch their K-Pop bias and consider RM’s ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ for their biggest award"
It's never too early for Grammy talk
By Francisca Tinoco
Published: Jun 12, 2024
This year in music has been one of the busiest we’ve seen in the past decade.
@12:37 This location was a last minute substitute for the original plan and Namjoon just slunk around and owned it ❤️🔥
Yes agree with your final statement, just by watching your album review know I like around the world 💜
Orgullosa de RM es genial
God if anything deserves a Grammy it’s this album 😭 like at the very least a nomination. It’s one of my favorite musical bodies of work in the last decade, and I listen to a LOT more than just bts and kpop.
I'm so proud of rm and this album!! Love your guys' reaction:)
I love the reference to the Beatle's A Day In the Live!
On the interlude, it's JD Beck on the drums! And also Domi on the keys
Also, San Yawn, who worked with RM on producing this album, is part of the band Balming Tiger, which he collabed with on "Sexy Nukim". If you have time, I truly recommend reacting to them! You'll realize the sound of this album truly is San Yawn's sound. Balming Tiger is an amazing group
San Yawn unofficially adopted Joonie into Balming Tiger 🫶🏽💜❤️🔥
I adore JD Beck love this great work
The best album of Namjoon, the leader of BTS, always at the forefront of music
Have you heard of the jazz duo Domi & JD Beck? They were the drummer and flute player in ? (Interlude).
hell yeah!! thanks again for listening to this album (i know i was one of the more active commenters suggesting this lol), was so nice to watch the morning before a 12 hour shift.
The jazzy part was played by a jazz duo. There is also a Taiwanese band in there.
Huo from Sunset Rollercoaster ❤️🔥
Thank you for this. I love your guys facial expressions!
Please be safe through Milton. ❤❤❤
I loved their reactions, RM is a genius and the whole team that worked with him, if you can, you should listen to Indigo, RM's previous album, it's very beautiful, it doesn't have all this mix of experimental sounds like RPWP, but it's still great.
Exactly, his sonic choices are original and different. Even though I don't like the swear words, again, I agree with you ❤
RM ALBUM RPWP WAS NAMED ALBUM OF THE YEAR BY BILLBOARD,NME , ROLLING STONES,AP AND THE GUARDIAN 🔥 NO ONE EVEN CAN COMPARE TO HIM OR MATCH HIS ARTISTIC VISION 💙PLEASE REACT TO INDIGO AS WELL IT'S A MASTERPIECE ❤
You're absolutely right! RPWP album is absolutely an underrated album ever released by a k-pop act!! This album deserves more recognition.
Pls React to the entire Wings album, I like this dynamic of reacting to entire albums, this way some BTS gems that don't usually ask for much don't go unnoticed, I hope you can also react to the whole era of LOVE YOURSELF (There are three albums)
Been an army for 8 years and I’ve always been a fan of alt and rock music for the longest time so I really enjoyed this album
Thank you. Such a great album reaction
I really love watching these long contents on BTS! Helps my workday goes faster. Hope you and your loved ones are safe and sound 💜💜
Thank you so much for the superthanks! Gald you are enjoying the reactions :)
I love it.
Thank you so much for listening to Album of the year
Thank u guys for reacting to the hole album, RPWP its a masterpiece from RM, they were a lot of negative when this came out cause it is different, experimental but also so clever at another level that doesn't go on the normal streaming music. I'm so happy that the album, MV and now the documentary it receiving the recognition it deserve. The Album its on the list of the most smartest album on 2024 and RM was so open with type of music, he really challenge him self and he nailed it.
The sound reminds me of poetry readings with discordant jazz you found in the beat generation….
Have you ever been to a jazz bar?
you haven't noticed the comments but yes RM do play sax now. he's in the band in military, and he played sax when Jin got discharged
I feel like this is RM's version of The Beatles' Revolver album...super experimental and just recording what feels good in the moment. Right Place, Wrong Person is the epitome of sonic art.
Not Enough words to describe how much I love this album ..masterpieces masterpiece masterpieces
I was working so I could not participate but I am here now. Love the creativity and risk-taking on this album. Each of them took their own risks and went where their artistry called to them. Love this album, Jimin's, Tae's, JHope and Junkook. Can't wait to see what Jin gives us.
you guys have to watch the RPWP documentary when it comes out in cinemas
aw i overslept, been waiting for this. thank u richard and johny for the appreciation. Namjoon is exceptional, i still listen to his mono album. this album is kinda different but it served.
Moses sumney is so fitting in this album because he is one of a kind… he made albums all by himself. He loves to experiment as well very creative artist
I love how they just don't care to keep up with any of the trends. All of their music is uniquely them.
Stay safe out in Orlando!
this album is a truly gem!!
Thank you ❤. Revisit the album with you was really nice
This album is a masterpiece in every sens3 ❤
If you ever have time ,please listen to RM's Indigo. That's such a beautiful album with amazing songs. RM never runs out of original ideas.
This album makes me so happy and I don't know why. It's so enjoyable to me 😅. It's so relatable to me
I think many artists can experiment with their sounds esp if they are at the top of their game BUT what we get is the very artistes at that top echleon who stay away from expanding their sounds...and if they actually do try then the usual reaction is less than enthusiastic or downright condemnation.
I AM SO GLAD YOU MADE THE BEATLES REFERENCE! 1:11:27 ❤❤❤❤❤
i love this album SOO MUCH
RM's learning to play the saxophone in the military, yes! V learned it before he got into BTS. Did you not watch them greeting Jin coming out yet? #Free_BTS
domodachi is a word he creates by combining japanese words
Domo = thanks and tomoDachi = friend
41:17 you have to check out domi and JD Beck!!!! Insane drummers and keyboard player!! It was played!
The ? Interlude is so perfect… it’s like a little jam session with JD Beck
Around The World in A Day is that BI... And reminds me of Prince so so so much.
His chaos is not irresponsible. It is very calculated. He is another level.
Make sure to listen to Nuts on the album as well as the music video! It is slightly different from the video.
Namjoon también toca el saxofón y el piano, en su servicio militar está dentro de la banda musical y su instrumento es el sax
