These videos are me wanting do make something useful for musicians born from 30+ years of playing guitar, touring, working in music stores, and as a product specialist in the industry.
    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
After reviewing 3 budget-friendly looper pedals it's time to stack their features side-by-side to see which one rises to the top. But before we do a fourth pedal emerges as a contender, and in many forms. A hands-on review will take place and then it will be compared to the rest.
Independent review videos for the other looper pedals can be found here:

NUX Loop Core Stereo • Looper Shootout: NUX L...
Mooer Groove Loop X2 • Looper Shooutout: Mooe...
Thanks for taking time to watch. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on these pedals in the comments section.

Thanks, helpful video. I would say though that since you had access to the Boss pedal that made waves when it was released that it would be helpful to have more than an offhand comment to explain why you liked others better. Boss pedal comes with a lot of options. I'm currently still undecided, but looking harder at the Nux now after this video.

I found the original 'DITTO', to be the easiest to operate . They kinda started the trend, and I love it's simplicity , have tried several loopers, and keep going back to it.

That's what drew me to the Ditto+ when I started looking for a new one in 2020. I also liked the multiple locations in the plus model. It wasn't until I noticed during loop playback into an overdrive that the Ditto+ adds treble and presence to the loop. You won't hear that added frequency boost if using with clean loops.

Thank you for the great comprehensive looper comparisons. I bought the nux looper and have been inpressed with its sound and build. Short learning curve to the controls. I'm a little disappointed that you seemingly need (per online info) another nux pedal if you want to make it true stereo. Proveded you have the extra PA type speakers to go through. The build quality and display quality are very good. I did a lot of research before buying a looper, and for my needs (home use), it's a great choice.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
I found, in order to run stereo on this pedal, the incoming source needs to be stereo. Example: use a splitter (or ABY box) to send stereo into the Loop Core. From there you could send the stereo recorded loop into two different amps or line of effects.
Some modulation/delay/reverb pedals will also take a mono signal and convert to stereo. The pedal will also playback any loaded stereo files in true stereo through the outs or the headphone jack.

Wow, thank you again. I'm going to persu this stereo thing. Appreciate the guidance on how to do it. 😊

One more question if I may. At the end of this video, you briefly mention the Boss CR5 looper being a little harder to use than the Nux looper. Do you have any experience with the Boss CR10r looper? If so, how would you compare it to Nux.

@@davidconboy5822 The 10R is really nice but it comes at looping from a different persective. Having the ability to use two different loops in a track is interesting, but from the perspective of building a loop you have to choose the rhythm/bpm you want to play the loop at. The BOSS will not adapt to your playing (loop). The NuX does better at "listening" and adapting the rhythm (bpm) to what you have played.
If you want the ability to change between two rhythms or loops while playing live the 10R wins. If you want to be creative with a loop and try different drum rhythms (post-loop recording) to further inspire your creativity the NuX wins.
Both are great for starting with a pre-programmed tempo and drum rhythm, the BOSS offers a larger variety. BOSS has 280 patterns with 16 drum kits vs NuX's 50 patterns.

Thanks a lot for the review, just in the nick of time as far as I'm concerned since I'm currently trying to decide between these pedals. Very helpful and thorough analysis. There is a point that you did not address however: how do the drum patterns sound? Is there a unit clearly above the others in this aspect? On which unit do the drum patterns sound the most organic/realistic? On which unit did you find the more inspiring ones? The more diverse styles and time signatures? Any unit where the drums are getting on one's nerve? I for one found the Mooer X2 drum patterns (from your review) seemed far too busy to be used for looping. Would love to hear your take on all this!

Thank you, and great question! Of the four units I spent time with, the NuX has the win for usable drum rhythms. You can hear them at the 1-minute mark on this video ua-cam.com/video/1tG5Q53anHo/v-deo.htmlsi=kpSJ43rwZx5d4asx
About 38 seconds in on this video you can hear me add in drums on the Mooer ua-cam.com/video/pInK9QczVEc/v-deo.htmlsi=5qZW12VqrRLVhQvU
Like you I found the Mooer to be a bit of the top. The hip-hop section is not something I would find much use for. Same with Disco.
I will have to go back and listen to the units again to see if quality of sound is any better on one than the other.

@@GuitarGrotto Thanks - from what I could hear on your videos and other sources, I find the patterns and drum sounds on the Donner Circle to be the better ones (at least the ones I find more inspiring), but that's always hard to judge when the recording setting varies greatly from one video to another... So if you ever get around to compare first-hand the Nux and the Donner Circle, I'd be much interested. Cheers!
