I bought one of these to eliminate wall wart power supplies in my wireless mic rack! My wireless mic receivers require 400 mA at 12v; well within the SOL's capacity. Bought the SOL and a blank rack plate. Screwed the SOL to the rack plate, ran short cables to the receivers, and it works perfectly! Too bad I can't attach pictures to a comment... It's a slick setup.
This is really helpful. Thank you. I’m an acoustic player and building a pedal board. I have: Zoom AC-3, Boss RC-5, Fender Smolder and a TC Hellicon R-1. This will power all those and I’ll still have power for any additional pedals I add later. Also there is a mount you can buy to attach to a Pedaltrain Metro 16 board which looks really neat too.
Been using the Cioks DC7 with the 8 for a few years, best power supply around!
DC-7 on a diet? No, it's a DC-5 that went to the gym and bulked the hell up. Nice one!

Love Cioks, but I hate the cable connectors they use. Wish they used standard connectors. Huge hassle when I need replacements on short notice, and can’t find a local shop that carries them. So I had to switch to the Strymon Zuma/Ojai combo.
If you need replacements on short notice, maybe keep spares? I just got a 4 and it’s a vast improvement for me having one side that fits solidly rather than threatening to pop out all the time. You could also splice your own cables since it’s just an RCA jack end.

No; minimum output is 9v. You'd likely damage your audio interface by powering it with nearly double the voltage.
How are you isolating each effect using a daisy chain?
in a daisy chain they won't be isolated
I literally just bought a DC7 3 days ago for the 660miliamps, but i only have 4 pedals🤦🏾...wish i had known about this....
Meh. The SOL isn’t all that much smaller than the DC7, has clean USB power if ever you need it, and you know you can use the extra outlets down the road, (and could even expand it beyond 7 if needed.) The DC7 is excellent, so don’t worry yourself with the new product hype train and just go enjoy it. ;)
Simpleton ?. If you have a pedal that lets say needs 180mV, can you fry the pedal given the ports are capable of supplying much more current?

Couldn't you technically power a 4 with one of the Sol's outputs?
Technically yea, but you wouldn’t get very far since the 4 can draw way more than a single Sol port can deliver
@@adamsteelproducer Yeah fair I guess if we're talking about powering a few extra analog pedals then they could be daisy chained off the Sol in the first place, and most diggies would eat up the 660 pretty quick
