"Face/Off" was such an awesome film! The pairing of John Travolta and Nicolas Cage was pure genius! They played well off each other and did an amazing job of playing each other! We need to see them both on film together again! 😎👍
Nah. Although it is great. Tough to make it to the top 3 when you got films like The Matrix, T2, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Starship Troopers, Point Break, Hard-Boiled, Braveheart, Natural Born Killers, Total Recall....The Fugitive, The Rock, Speed. Maybe people would throw Batman Returns in there although I think it's overrated. Titanic probably belongs in there somewhere. I think you could make an argument for top 10 though. It wouldn't be sacrilege.
What's wrong with that ? I'm a girl and I like this movie even if it's not as funny as... "NO, NOT THE BEES ! AAAAAAAH ! THEY'RE IN MY EYES ! AAAAAAAH !"
I thought travolta playing Nicolas cage would be more difficult given that cage has a special way of acting and délivrance but both did a great job even if I prefer bad Nicolas cage
I remember being a little kid and asking my dad why they didn't have eachothers teeth. There was a long pause and and he sent me to my room lmao. I had to wait to watch it till next time. I think 8year old me ruined the fun. Still a all time great 90s action flick
'Face/Off' remains one of the greatest action movies ever made; kinetic, brilliantly acted, written & directed and featuring an absolutely terrific score by John Powell.
Remember seeing faceoff as a kid and actually thinking they portrayed each-others manorism to a t. Its like you could see the other actor beneath the skin. Of cource that was the point but nobody else I knew at the time seemed to have picked that up.
@@johnnyb4266 Man I don't know if you could put Face/Off above four of these.... The Matrix, T2, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Starship Troopers, Point Break, Hard-Boiled, Braveheart, Natural Born Killers, Total Recall....The Fugitive, The Rock, Speed. I think I'd put Face/Off above Natural Born Killers personally, but that's about it. There were a ton of great 90s action movies.
@@johnnyb4266 Crimson Tide is highly underrated IMO. Then of course you got the standards like Thin Red Line, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Men in Black, El Mariachi, The Fifth Element, Con Air, Bad Boys, Armageddon, Blade, Clear and Present Danger, Tomorrow Never Dies....a bunch of foreign films especially from Hong Kong and China. It's overwhelming how many great movies are out there.
Not exactly. I always thought that Nicholas Cage could have been more like John Travolta if he tried harder. In all fairness, Travolta had enough of a stage presence in the first half hour of the movie as Sean Archer for Nicholas Cage to imitate. But Nicholas Cage just seemed to go on playing Nicholas Cage, albeit good guy Nicholas Cage vs bad guy Nicholas Cage. He did do a great job as the villain in the first twenty minutes though.
"Face/Off" remains one of my favorite action movies. John is right in that the concept was so bold, especially for its time - I don't think anyone had done that kind of story before. Real-life facial surgery was still decades away when the movie came out, so that aspect required more a suspense of disbelief...but overall, I think it still works. John and Nic were surrounded by a great supporting cast, and John Woo delivered all his trademark elements in classic style. I haven't seen any of his Hong Kong films, but "Face/Off" and "Broken Arrow" are probably my favorites from his American catalog.
According to the inflation rate, the movie would've cost around $150M and made around $460M today. Considering how borderline crazy the plot was, it still paid off. A true paradigm of the 90s.
I can eat a peach for hours. Cage outclassed him sadly. His choir girl scene was epic apart from the tongue-sucking plane scene and the crying scene convincing his wife.

Absolutely true 👍
I still own it on VHS & DVD both!!👊👊
@@neilsingh5923 great
Damn sure it is! Awesome right from the start and pressure was maintened till the end. Fantastic action movie 🎥👍👌
You forgot of all time!
It is one of the most ridiculous storylines of all time. I absolutely loved it.
His impression of Nic Cage is excellent! No wonder they both rocked!
He did it for a few seconds and it was perfect.
What’s more impressive was apparently Face/Off was the first time Travolta/Cage worked together, or even met.
they actually met as kids on the set of Godfather, Nic is related to Francis. John's dad was a union guy who worked the sets.
Hollywood is a very small world, I seriously doubt they never meet before on a party or dinner

Both Travolta and cage did an excellent job portraying each other. Your could easily see each actor in the other.

Face off is John woo’s best 90s action classic.
Face off is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
John is almost 70s years old but has young voice

Freaking love Face Off.
My Mum used to use it as bait for if I behaved myself, I could rent it on VHS.
Fun memories.

Face/Off is a masterpiece.
John Travolta is aging like a fine wine. I can't believe all the years he wore some pretty awful wigs when he looks so good without hair.
Agreed. He seems like a nice guy.
Exactly. Highlights his eye area
Amen.
Oh, I had no idea that he wore wigs.
0:55 hilarious impression 🤣
I had seen "Face/Off" when I was a kid back in the day and I had a great time watching both these Hollywood titans square off against each other.

Broken Arrow is better.
Oh yes! That John Powell score is magnificent. When you think of his work on Shrek and Bourne, a truly underrated composer.
Face/Off is so great because both actors are just hamming it up! They are clearly having a ton of fun. Cheese at its greatest!
Travolta needs to make a comeback. Maybe Face/Off 2 would do that???
