I just got my first budgie (actually he's my first bird ever). I took him on the 27th of July in a pet shop where they told me that he was 6 month old and that was untamed. His name is Chitzkoi. The very first day he was super afraid, he stood still the whole day, just looking around. I spoke with him a lot. The day after he started to move around the cage and to eat. I was keep watching this video over and over again to strengthen in me the idea we will be friend one day. Then I had to work the whole week, but when I was back home I spent all the possible time with him talking. He was still afraid of my hand though. On Friday he accepted the offer of millet I made, passing it through the cage bars. Than last Saturday, the third of August, it was our first week together. I open the cage while speaking with him, I was holding some millet. Slowly I put a finger next to him and he jumped on it! No problem at all about getting him out of the cage, he was not afraid, just curious. I roamed around the room explaining him what the item we were seeing were, like the television, the sofa, etc. He was even more curious, then we went to the window to see the sparrows visiting my garden, he was chirping at them, so cute! And that was it, now we are good friend, he jump on my finger as soon as I put it next to him, we have beautiful adventure around the house together and we always go watch the birds visiting my garden. I'm really thankful you made this video, I like all of them, but this not only gave me good advice, but also showed me that it was possible to bond with him. I didn't tried to cuddle him yet, but usually he has no problems if I touch him. I'm still surprised that the whole process took only 7 days! Anyone here with the same experience?
@@meare5592 we are! We definitely are! The whole story had actually exceptional developments. Chitzkoi is not only still my very best friend, after a couple of months he received as gift… a brother! And they are inseparable ever since. Six months later 2 more brothers joined the family for a total of four budgies. I also discovered pretty soon that Chitzkoi was suffering from French Moult, a virus that attacks the follicles of primary feathers. All his primary feathers, the long ones, were coming out torn and twisted. He was incapable of flying :( The avian vet told me that unfortunately there’s no cure for this and that he would have been never able to fly. This made me feel insanely sad, all his brothers were flying and he was moving back and forth on the perch flapping his wings, pretending to fly with them. Their cage is always open so they fly in the living room and not seeing Chitzkoi flying with them brought me tears. But since I’m stubborn as hell I took the executive decision that Chitzkoi would be able to fly no matter what! I discovered that in Australia, where they are originally from, there have been actually a LOT of studies about this virus, and they founded a way to diminish at least the effects of this virus. It took 3 month of studies on these Australian scientific papers (my medicine studies background helped) to craft the perfect diet in accordance to these studies. After a year of this diet Chitzkoi managed to pull out gorgeous feathers and the virus is now affecting only a single tail feather. Chitzkoi happy flies around with his brothers now! Mission accomplished. One year later we rescued a female budgie, she was bullied at the breeder site, was malnourish, weighted half of a regular budgie and in a fight with other birds was severely injured losing half of her nose, she was also affected by the same virus. But diet has been perfected even more and it took less than 6 month to completely get her rid of the virus, zero feather affected! She also have an healthy weight now for her size. She’s physically smaller than her brothers. And finally, to conclude, for now, this story, I also got a wonderful cockatiel. Her name is Trigger and she’s convinced I’m her partner 😂 Spoiler alert, there’s the possibility 2 new rescued budgies might join the family soon. This will bring the total number of budgies to 7.
@@atinele1986 hello! As said in the previous comment I had to study a lot to formulate a very specific diet for my birds with French moult, but it seems that this study was so accurate that when I got a second bird with the same problem it was solved just in a couple of months! I’ll give you all the details 😉 The bird needs to have ALWAYS available as “base food” Harrison pellets. Adult life of the passed 1 year mark (green graphic on the package) or High potency if they have less than one year (orange graphic on the package). This is the food that they will eat the most and needs to be ALWAYS available, I personally change the food once per day. Before they go to bed I clean the food bowls and replace the pellets with fresh ones. I also give them half tea spoon of seed mix once per day (usually at dinner time). Another FUNDAMENTAL aspect of this diet is fresh vegetables, the mix I’m going to describe has been accurately selected to provide them with all the vitamins needed to give their immune system a great boost according to the Australian researches I founded. Every day I offer them: Broccoli, slices of cucumber, romanesco salad leaves. Very odd day I add to this mix dandelion. But please DON’T go “heavy” with dandelion, it’s a super food and also help their liver, but they can eat it for too long, so definitely don’t offer it every day, once every couple of day it’s fine. Every Sunday they get the egg mix, but you can also simply offer them an hard boiled egg, once they try it they will love it! And the protein intake problem is solved. That’s the diet I use. An important note about the fresh vegetables. It’s very important to clean them VERY well, I start by rinsing then with water to get rid of any earth deposit on them. I then put them in a big bowl of water with a couple of spoon of baking soda. I push them down with a series of forks and keep them submerged for at least 15 minutes. This will completely remove every possible chemical used to grow them. After 15 mins I remove them from this water and clean them again using running tap water. I then put the vegetables on small clips and hang them through the cage bars. Usually on the roof of the cage, because the cage is alway open and they love to go on the roof. What I mean here is: put the vegetables in an easy place to reach for them. Obviously no market sell dandelion flowers. They can eat everything, the flower, the leaves, the roots, everything. So I grow them in my garden. But if you can not find or cultivate them, no worries, they are not indispensable and can be replaced with a slice of fresh ginger, which has more or less the same effect. Also no worries if they ignore the vegetables at the beginning. You have to keep offering them vegetables every day until one of them will start to eat them, then you will see they all will start to eat them. No matter how long it will take, they can start eat them after one day or after one year, you keep offering vegetables to them. For Chitzkoi it took almost 3 months before he even touched a broccoli! But from that moment on everybody is eating vegetables like there’s no tomorrow 😂 so be consistent and always offer vegetables to them. Hope this will help, if you need more info feel free to ask 😉
Hi. I've reached all the levels. I raised my budgie from a baby and named it miracle. It was kicked out the nest with help from another mother she raised him for the first three weeks and I finished the process I hand fed him for one week after He does everything and he's a very jealous bird. It speak many words including laughing. I'm hoping to make a video of him to put on UA-cam for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for your video
I'm a flock member but they're only interested in me when I have food and they try flying away when I pet them. It's funny actually, sometimes when I stroke them, they slit their eyes in pleasure and start puffing up, but sometimes they just look downright terrified when I try to cuddle.
Thank you so much for this scale. I have my first bird and I started trying to teach tricks first( not knowing anything) my budgie was from Pet Smart and between my inexperience and not being handled he was very afraid. Once I backed off on my expectations and just worked on making him happy things SLOWLY turned around. Now we are between level 3 and 4. He is cuddly in the cage. We are working our way to the door. Thank you for helping me organize my thoughts!
I was told by the breeder to carry and hold him constantly (he's 7 weeks old), even though he would try and bite me. After 3 days he was biting me alot and seemed really unhappy so I started looking around at other options and found these videos. My baby budgie is terrified of me 😩 I've backed right off of course and I'm working on getting him used to me being outside the cage and just talking to him but I was wondering if maybe it's too late to try bonding because he obviously has a very negative association with me, and him being so young and impressionable? If he's not going to bond with me I would rather get him a couple of friends because I don't want him to be lonely 😔
I'm still on 0 after having them for 4 months.... I've been trying but I didn't know just what to do, but the way you structured this video is so spectacular and I can understand literally everything. The steps are so distinct and we'll broken down. I hope I'm at at least level 2 by the start of the semester!
erretsu // It’s been two months I’m on level two, I just came back from holiday and They are scared of me again, I got spray millets and put it in the cage froze and they ate it then I went to the most calm bird and ai put seeds on my hand and put my hand in the cage and he stepped up ate they are about 1 year old I guess, (they are tamed now fully this happend last year)
So interesting. I have only had my budgie 2 days. He is 10 weeks old. I want him to feel comfortable around me so will start with level one as you suggested and take things slowly. He is such a pleasure to be around.
I've had my budgies for about a year now, but I never really had the time to tame them. During this quarantine I've decided to dedicate all my time to them . It's been about two weeks since I watched this video and my 3 budgies are all slowly taming all differently. My most stubborn budgie has just reached level 2 and I'm excited to keep going!😆❤ My other budgie has just reached level 3❤! And the other one is already slowly moving on to level 4😱❤! I'm so excited and I can't wait to teach them many tricks and possibly freefly them one day.😆
Thanks so much. In a month, they are at like level 4-5. But that was a year ago. Sadly my yellow budgie died 4 months ago, and my other blue one today. 😭 Thank you for helping me making them my friends. They are always in my going to be in my memory and heart 😁 Edit: I realized taming is one of the most funnest part about having a budgie. Thank you.
I just got my two budgies 5 days ago from petco and they were terrified! But today I got them to both stand on my fingers multiple times while they were eating a millet stick thing! IM SO HAPPY!!!
Almost 2 weeks with my cuties, level 2 when they’re in the mood. I’m home a lot and the kids and I are pretty much in love with them. Learning a lot from your videos 😃 thank you so much!
My budgie babies are talking with your budgies from your video 💜 Today is day 2 with my budgie girls and they are already calming down and starting to feel more safe with me! I've always wanted budgie babies and now that I finally have them I'm so in love! Skye & Freya welcome home! Best 2020 Christmas present from my hubby ever! 💕
I am at level 1 in a day... And want to go on 2. I belong from India and here birds 🐦 trade is very bad. People are not aware of how to take care of them keep them in small cages. I want a bond with my budgies don't want to keep them in a cage for their whole life. Thanks for your videos they are helping a lot. Love your work sir.
Wonderful video. SO glad to see someone advocating a patient and slow approach, rather than a rushed approach that could backfire. I have 2 young budgies that I've had for 6 weeks now. I'm guessing their age is about 4 months. We are up to the stage where they will gradually hop onto my hand when offered a treat (but not unless I'm offering a treat).
My last budgie (he has passed now) was able to speak several phrases: "Hey there, mama's here, dad/dadders, Hello-hello, Watcha doin, i love u, xcuse me, God bless u, Hi Liv/Hi Rees (my daughter's names). He was quick to talk and learned to speak new words within 5 days and he had such a wonderful personality...I miss him so much.
Hi, I have my budgie Ziggy for 16 days now and he feels safe eating from my hand and standing on it while in the cage. I tried moving my hand then out of the cage but he still feels unsafe even tho I let him out every day. He landed a few times also on my hand to eat while outside the cage. I gave him the same seeds he eats. It was really nice and made me happy. He is about 5 months old. I'm satisfied with the progress cause Ziggy's my first budgie. It would be great reaching lvl 5 although I would be more than satisfied with lvl 4. They are just so adorable and interesting creatures.
My 8 yr old daughter and I are getting our first budgie next Thursday! We are hoping we can get to level 5 eventually, so excited! Budgies are so cute and really interesting! Love this channel, we both haves learned so much! Can’t wait to bring home our newest edition to the family💚
I am between friendly and caregiver/provider. I made the mistake of getting 4 Budgies at the same time. But I did notice some were faster to make a fond with than other. And thanks to those Budgies that were friendly with me, the others that were still afraid of me became more relaxed. Now all of them eat off my hand but while on the perch. I’m trying to get them to step on my hand. My goal is to reach level cuddle.
I just got to level 3 tonight they ate from my hand 😍 It’s been about 2-3 weeks since I got them They look pretty young though so I think that helped they were very scared at first I’m waiting on a bird playground to come in the mail so hopefully by then I’ll be able to let them out of the cage
This video made me so happy 😭 Im at level 4 and didn’t even know it! My whole family was able to feed them Millet yesterday and they stood on their hand! Next it will be taking them out the cage! They’ve been home for about 4 weeks now ❤️
Thank you so much! I was really feeling like I was failing as a Budgie mother even though Ive only had mine for a little over a month. Many sites say that they have trained their budgies in a few days. It didn't feel right to force them and it made training slower. I'm sure coming from a pet store and to their new home is incredibly scary. My babies have been through so much already! On a good day, my babies and I are on level 2. No more rushing, the 3 of us have a lifetime to go. Thanks again, Alex
@@doubleaa9875 They are more comfortable with me. Salem has started crying out for me if I leave the room. They do that eye thing before bed when they really trust somebody and I get really close and whisper goodnight. And they all know what get in the cage means. Its the little things.
THANK YOU for making video's like this about bonding with your parakeet's. I received 2 baby keets for CHRISTMAS after having OPEN HEART SURGERY last JULY. I was at DEATH'S DOOR but after rehab and long stays in the hospitàl, I finally came home!!! My son gave me 2 little CHATTER BOXES, cage and food and treats to last several months. They are AMAZING and FUN. and I LOVE THEM like I was given a SECOND CHANCE!!! THANK YOU JESUS for my 2nd CHANCE to extend my time on earth!! GUESS I HAVEN'T earned my HALLO YET. 😇🤗
My bird eats millet from my hand but it’s still scared of my hand😭 Edit~ thx for all the support guys my cockatiel is getting more and more used to me now❤️ Edit~ wow this comment is getting way more support than I thought it would get❤️ thank you tho, not complaining ;-; Edit~ here’s the update just in case you haven’t read the replies: When my bird was molting she didn’t liked being handled,so I couldn’t train her as much I wanted. When her molting was done i could train her more, so right now she is getting more used to me. Like a few days ago she stepped on to my hand without her seeing ANY treats❤️❤️ I’m still training her, but I’m happy that she trusts me more now😊❤️ Edit~ I know it’s been a while but my bird is so much better!! She flew onto my hand for the first time😍 Edit~ More updattee: So she is getting more comfortable sitting on my hand which awesome!! But she doesn’t sit on my hand for long if there isn’t any millet, but she is improving! And a few days ago she was sitting on my shoulder for like 30 mins! And then she started sleeping so I had freeze so she doesn’t wake up xD Thanks to everyone who supported me on the way❤️ if you have a bird and they are super scared of you, remember not to give up they will get used to you very soon
So for some reason I can’t edit my comments anymore but here's the update: She got used to my hand for a while, she would step up and get a treat but now that she has started to molt she gets a little stressed and doesn’t like being handled. I hope she still gets used to me after her molt tho❤️😭 (I can finally edit now)
I got this name from Google It’s okay! Don’t worry, can you tell me about how you get your budgie? Most of the time they act this way if they were in a bad environment a while ago. My two parakeets aren’t afraid most of the time. But I’ve have them for over a YEAR! I started to lose hope except when I notice they aren’t afraid of my hand without food anymore. Taming budgies can take a month or way longer. I bought my parakeets from a bad pet store, they were treated badly. I think that’s mainly the reason it toke so long for my parakeets to get comfortable. How long have you had your budgie? Please don’t make the mistake I’ve made, I’ve made a terrible decision by giving up multiple times and quit trying to tame them. I would do this in between taming processes because I lost hope. But when I want to try again, I have to start from the beginning since I didn’t interact with them for a long time. I’m trying my best to keep going. Trust me, they’ll be tamed eventually, don’t feel guilty and think you’re a bad owner if it’s taking longer than you expected. If your bird is EXTREMELY scared, don’t put your hand inside their cage and just pull up a chair and sit and talk to them. That worked for me at least, I hope the best of luck for you! I suffered from anxiety and guilt ever since I got my parakeets because I couldn’t seem to tame them, try not to feel this way. 0w0
I bought my two budgies tree days ago. On day two, one of them stepped up on my finger inside his cage. I was so thrilled to have accomplished this on day two! The other Budgie still is a little scared and she has not let me hold her. I can tell with her it's going to take more time. I love my new babies so much. I can't wait for the time they allow me to hold them. They bring me such Joy.
Well, it was short lived. THIS WEEK, he's a DEMON bird. Won't eat veggies, keeps RUNNING on my plate stealing food. He's been very aggressive and just acting out in general. I ordered him a TV and a radio, hopefully this will help. He's out of control this week.
Thanks to this video I have gone from zero to four in about 2 months. He has gone from being huddled in his cage to being happy to sit on me and my kids and is also talking. He still doesnt like pats but he is so entertaining and brings us so much joy. I've really enjoyed bonding with him and I didn't know how to till I watched this video so thank you!
Me: Watching this My talking budgie in the background: BANANA! BANANA!! BANANA! BANANA! BANANA!!! I have already reached level five a long time ago but I'm still watching this stuff for some reason.
Camilla Kirkmand your so lucky I have been begging my mom for 2 years and I am getting one next month for my birthday 🦅(btw it’s going to be a budgie)🙂
Two months ago, I got my two budgies, albino and blue, and I've been trying to tame them since they got here. Just this week, they started to stand on my hand to eat their seed mix. It's really cute and I can't wait to make a lasting bond with the both of them.
i have two budgies that are 4 month old when i got them. although people say that it is very hard to tame them at that age. but they r slowly eating from my hand. i think they are at level 2.
I had my budgies for 1 year i didn't know any knowledge i have made so many mistakes i was sad that they will never forgive me but i am bonding with them and i think they forgived me and i am trying to tame them now i can put hand side to them but if i touch them they get scared. I will never repeat the mistake. Love my budgies her bame is cookie
I just got 2 new baby budgies for my mirror-obsessed bird, and although I'll have to return them to a petstore for a couple of weeks while they get a checkup with their vet, I've started reading to them, providing treat, and playing budgie noises and music in the bg to keep them relaxed. They're in my big rectangular cage tucked under my TV, surrounded on most sides so they feel protected. As soon as the vet gives the ok, I'm introducing my first bird so he finally has friends he can chat with. Wish them (and me) luck!
My oldest Parakeet is 1 year and 36 months old and my youngest is just 10 months. The youngest is all ready letting me pet her and she will get on my finger.
My little girl talks up a storm! Weird because I had no idea that budgies could even talk when I first got her. Then I learned it it's very unusual for females to learn to talk! I've had her since she was a very small baby and she is the light of my life. I never knew having a bird could be this rewarding! I want to teach her some tricks but only if she likes to. Thanks for the video!
I reached partner/provider today and am so glad as I've been trying to build more trust with my budgie for several weeks but it has been a slow process. I think the main reason i accomplished this step is by pretending to feed my budgies bird shaped toy. The reason i started doing this is because i was trying to encourage my budgie to play with this toy one day by tapping and hitting this toy to make it move (the toy is a small plastic budgie that attaches onto a perch and has a spring that allows the toy to move on the spot). When doing this my budgie started biting and trying the attack my hand. This is when i realised that it may be possible my budgie believes the toy is real. After this, i have been treating the toy as a real bird by stroking it and pretending to feed it and this has seemed to work wonders. i think by doing this it has allowed Bodhi (my budgie) to see my hand isn't a threat and there is nothing to be frightened of, also gives him some understanding without overwhelming or alarming him. This is a great achievement as this is the first time Bodhi has willingly come towards my hand and i have only been using the toy technique for 6 days. Thank you for this video, it has given me a lot of great tips i will be using in the future.
Thank you Budgie World! Now I have two parakeets and they are both level one. I had to back up a bit but am now putting my hand in their cage with no fear... unless I move too quickly! 😊
I got a Quaker parrot and she needed a lot of attention with many behavioral issues. That took away my time with my budgies. I need to give the parrot away because I just don’t have the skills to train her. So I’ll be starting again at level 1 next Tuesday. I now have two pairs. Beware! Birds are addictive!!!! LOL! 😂
I got two budgies 6-8 months old 6 day ago. At this point I can comfortably say that we have reached level P as both Sunny (Female, Lutino) and Snowy (Male, double spangle, white) eat the food I offer them from my hand. So proud of these little friends for accepting me so quick. I can't wait to reach level 3&4. Reaching level 5 is a dream that I can wait for. ❤️ Thank you for the video. 🙏 Love from India. 🇮🇳
Right now I’m a Partner/Provider 😕 Edit: ok just realized I’m a flock member, but I’ve been on that level for like 3 months and they keep getting scared when I take them out of the cage and try to sit on the couch. They just look at me like I’m the person that gives them food and that’s it. They will only come out if I have food, but they don’t really like me.
yeah me too , they only come when i have seed or something they like on my hand . Otherwise , they never step up on my finger or let my hand get too close to them
it needs a lot of patience and devotion, keep it up and keep getting closer and closer to the cage's door, don't forget that you want them to step out of their safe zone and join you in a world they don't know. that takes HUGE trust from your budgie's side. however of you are determent and consistent, they will! :)
Budgie World Yeah but I have been consistent for 6 months. They come out if I have food, but I don’t want that. I want them to want to come out because they want to be with me. Thanks for trying to help though
I had my budgies for 1 year i didn't know any knowledge i have made so many mistakes i was sad that they will never forgive me but now i am trying to bond with them and i think they forgived me and i am trying to tame them now i can put hand side to them but if i touch them they get scared. I will never repeat the mistake. Love my budgies her name is cookie 😭😭😭😭😭💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Same here. I didn’t know these steps and I’ve had my budgies for over a year and they are still afraid of me, so I’m hoping it’s not too late to do these steps.
Love your videos! I got 2 budgies 5 days ago 3 months old and tonight one of them was eating a bit millet right out of my hand, and rested his foot on my hand. My other budgie I can sense he isn't quite as comfortable but I'm feeling good about it so far! 😊
Im at level 3,5 i feed them out of their cage and they sit on my hand and i can give them kisses but they dont want cuddles yet its now day 9 (Sorry im not a native speaker)
I have two budgies. I have had them for a little over three weeks. I love them so much and they have been a great choice of pet for me. I'm at level two right now. I can only get them to eat millet out of my hand at the moment, but I'm going to try some fruits and vegetables soon. Thank you for this video. It has helped me a lot. I'm excited to be able to cuddle with them in the future.
Hello, my name is Eva and I’ve had my birds for 4 months and there kinda getting more comfy around me, and so they won’t let me hold them and so I’ve started talking sounds to them and they like it, so they then I started opening the cage more, and they came out when I was there. Then one morning I put my hand in the cage, and they came on my finger! I was so happy! So then I kept doing that, and then, they would follow me around the house! Thank you for your video it really helped me A lot. 😊
Just seeing budgies makes me feel better because my bird almost died and me and my little sister cried while saying, “ Please TJ, stop,” and, “No you can’t die like Lily (my other bird),”
i just brought 2 budgies home and on level 0 right now but definitely want to reach the highest level of course! im so excited to start bonding with my new babies
@Alesha Wills - I've had mine for 2 months now. He's terrified to leave his cage. It's been a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I'm sure it'll be several more months before he relaxes. He's a real scaredy cat. He's sweet but still afraid when it comes to coming out of his cage. He won't come out unless it's an accident or he gets scared out (noise).
Well B.4W. I am at flock member...if i am not storming around loosing my patience we are fine, they know I get upset and they will fly away and be scittish for a while, but they calm down and they will let me help them...during one of our earth quakes in L.A. over the 4th of july, one of my pied male was on the floor disoriented stunned, but okay, I put my hand down and he got into my hand and allowed me to put him on the cages with the flock....so I guess I'm level actually and I am good with that. The video was amazing, thank you to you and your famliy for helping you!
A tip if your bird is scared of millet (idk why my budgies where terrified of it) hang it in the cage where you have hung other food before, or where they often sit. Hope this helps 💕💕💕
That's true for veggies as well or any type of food or toy, if you are trying to introduce something new to your bird, you can always try to use your bird's comfort zone
I guess I'm on level 3. I can't get the little guy to "want" to come out of his cage. He doesn't come out willingly, although the door is open for him in the event he decides to come out. He's come out accidentally a few times when he flaps his wings and loses his grip - that has sent him flying out of his cage and scares him even more (sigh). I've made mistakes and have found myself at a loss for what in the world to do, so these videos are very helpful. Please keep them coming! Many people post videos and say it only took them 2 weeks to tame their birds. I know now that it's not nearly as easy as it looks! 2 months in and we still have a long way to go. He was really young (still is) when I brought him home. He still has the bars across his forehead (although, I can see that there's some white feathers trying to come in now) and solid black eyes, so I doubt he's even 4 months yet. He's afraid of the "outside of cage" world and is very moody about perching on my finger. He's a great eater and will eat out of my hand pretty much whenever offered. He's motivated by food. If I'm not careful, he's going to be a Pudgy-Budgie! LOL! Thanks!
I think I’m between a level 2-3, they will sit on my hand and feed from my hand and I can move them in and out of their cage. I came across your channel as one of my birds is biting and I made the common mistake of saying no and putting him back in the cage! I will ignore him completely when he does it from now on... really like your channel. It’s great.
i’m on level 3 with my budgie Kermit and i’ve had him for 4 weeks. he lets me hold and pet him, but i want him to know he’s safe with me and can relax when im around. thank you so much for the advice- it’s really come in handy!!!!
Truly amazing. All those videos that were hard to understand, didnt help me at all. But this video? Simple! Easy! Thanks for all the advice, and it seems like im on level 2 with my budgie.
I follow a very different approach. I do not keep new budgie/s in cage when I get them from the store. I just let them free in my room. They are generally scared and look for space to hide. Mostly they fly to the top of window bars or behind any bags or covers which are at some height. I also get them in evening from my local store. That way in night they have some time to relax because it quiet and dark with not unnecessary sound or noise from outside. After a day or two, they will come down to the floor to eat. I just sprinkle the food (seeds) on the floor so that it's easy for them to pick. By third day, they will find the cage themselves (place food near the cage entrance). They will know you and you will be at level 3 (Budgies are friendly and eat food from your hand) by 4th day. Also, remember to never close the cage door.
I have cleared 3rd level in a month from zero , I have 4 budgies and the youngest budgie was easy to bond with. Now this cute budgie doesn’t allow other budgies to eat and perch on my hand. But it does take a lot of patience, time, care and affection to build the trust with a budgie.
I am on level zero yet because I brought budgies 2 days ago I wanna be on the top level of my friendship with my budgies ❤️🌸
How is it going with them? I got my budgies almost 2 weeks ago, they're still scared but they eat from my hand today 🙌
Hey 🥺 it’s been a while! Just wanted to know how ya birds are going :D
So this is the comment you were waiting for now I can say my Budgies are my friends now they love me and they are completely comfortable ❤️
VInix they are doing good now playing all the time all around the room love to listen misic ❤️
What level are u now 4 months later
That's a wonderful story and I hope you're still making memories together.
He was incapable of flying :(
The avian vet told me that unfortunately there’s no cure for this and that he would have been never able to fly.
Her name is Trigger and she’s convinced I’m her partner 😂
Spoiler alert, there’s the possibility 2 new rescued budgies might join the family soon. This will bring the total number of budgies to 7.
What diet did you use to bring the bird back to health?
@@atinele1986 hello! As said in the previous comment I had to study a lot to formulate a very specific diet for my birds with French moult, but it seems that this study was so accurate that when I got a second bird with the same problem it was solved just in a couple of months!
I’ll give you all the details 😉
The bird needs to have ALWAYS available as “base food” Harrison pellets.
Every day I offer them:
Broccoli, slices of cucumber, romanesco salad leaves.
@@lucalivio wow you are still replying even after 3 years i hope your birds are doing well and is healthy
I would definitely watch that video :) hand raised chicks are easier to tame, and any bird that was born in your place in general :)
Thats great!
Budgie World your so amazing❤️
Please do it!!! I wanna see 😍
Hmm how many painful bites did u get
I'm a flock member but they're only interested in me when I have food and they try flying away when I pet them.
I'm so happy you're making progress, with patience and determination you can achieve a lot :)
Imagine having the name meg and spelling UA-cam wrong.
I was told by the breeder to carry and hold him constantly (he's 7 weeks old), even though he would try and bite me. After 3 days he was biting me alot and seemed really unhappy so I started looking around at other options and found these videos. My baby budgie is terrified of me 😩
I've backed right off of course and I'm working on getting him used to me being outside the cage and just talking to him but I was wondering if maybe it's too late to try bonding because he obviously has a very negative association with me, and him being so young and impressionable? If he's not going to bond with me I would rather get him a couple of friends because I don't want him to be lonely 😔
@@BudgieWorld my 2 birds hamlet and coco isn't eating, drinking, chirping..
I'm still on 0 after having them for 4 months.... I've been trying but I didn't know just what to do, but the way you structured this video is so spectacular and I can understand literally everything. The steps are so distinct and we'll broken down. I hope I'm at at least level 2 by the start of the semester!
wish you the best with your budgies, of course you need a lot of time to dedicate to them, but it's worth it at the end
How is that coming by now?

erretsu // It’s been two months I’m on level two, I just came back from holiday and They are scared of me again, I got spray millets and put it in the cage froze and they ate it then I went to the most calm bird and ai put seeds on my hand and put my hand in the cage and he stepped up ate they are about 1 year old I guess, (they are tamed now fully this happend last year)
So interesting. I have only had my budgie 2 days. He is 10 weeks old. I want him to feel comfortable around me so will start with level one as you suggested and take things slowly. He is such a pleasure to be around.
Is he okay now?
I’m at level 4 because my budgie is too young to talk yet. He just flew for the first time today! 🥰
I'm so excited and I can't wait to teach them many tricks and possibly freefly them one day.😆
My budgie, Gabby, chirps nonstop when she hears your voice. She has bonded with you!
Thanks so much. In a month, they are at like level 4-5. But that was a year ago. Sadly my yellow budgie died 4 months ago, and my other blue one today. 😭 Thank you for helping me making them my friends. They are always in my going to be in my memory and heart 😁
Edit: I realized taming is one of the most funnest part about having a budgie. Thank you.
You are welcome, and I am so sorry for your loss
OMG THAT WHITE BUDGIE IS BEAUTIFUL
Thank you she's 4 months now and she's really moody :D
Budgie World she’s literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. My budgies are 2 years old now :)
i just got a white budgie that looks like it and i love her ❤️❤️

I just got to level 3 tonight they ate from my hand 😍
It’s been about 2-3 weeks since I got them
They look pretty young though so I think that helped they were very scared at first
I’m waiting on a bird playground to come in the mail so hopefully by then I’ll be able to let them out of the cage
Thanks again,
Alex
After 2 years, is there any updates about your budgies?
Edit~ thx for all the support guys my cockatiel is getting more and more used to me now❤️
Edit~ wow this comment is getting way more support than I thought it would get❤️ thank you tho, not complaining ;-;
Edit~ here’s the update just in case you haven’t read the replies:
When my bird was molting she didn’t liked being handled,so I couldn’t train her as much I wanted. When her molting was done i could train her more, so right now she is getting more used to me. Like a few days ago she stepped on to my hand without her seeing ANY treats❤️❤️ I’m still training her, but I’m happy that she trusts me more now😊❤️
Edit~ I know it’s been a while but my bird is so much better!!
She flew onto my hand for the first time😍
Edit~ More updattee: So she is getting more comfortable sitting on my hand which awesome!! But she doesn’t sit on my hand for long if there isn’t any millet, but she is improving! And a few days ago she was sitting on my shoulder for like 30 mins! And then she started sleeping so I had freeze so she doesn’t wake up xD
Thanks to everyone who supported me on the way❤️
if you have a bird and they are super scared of you, remember not to give up they will get used to you very soon

its been two months, whats the update?
So for some reason I can’t edit my comments anymore but here's the update:
She got used to my hand for a while, she would step up and get a treat but now that she has started to molt she gets a little stressed and doesn’t like being handled. I hope she still gets used to me after her molt tho❤️😭
(I can finally edit now)
I got this name from Google It’s okay!
Woohoo! I’m at the cuddle stage! I’m so excited.
Well, it was short lived. THIS WEEK, he's a DEMON bird. Won't eat veggies, keeps RUNNING on my plate stealing food. He's been very aggressive and just acting out in general. I ordered him a TV and a radio, hopefully this will help. He's out of control this week.

I have 12 budgies in my cage and they get along just fine, and they all will get on my finger except for two of the newer ones.
Thank you for this video, it has given me a lot of great tips i will be using in the future.
this is a very interesting approach, that I might actually try it as an experiment at some point, thanks for sharing this!
They're so so cute!!!
I have reached level one in less than two weeks.

yeah me too , they only come when i have seed or something they like on my hand .

Same here. I didn’t know these steps and I’ve had my budgies for over a year and they are still afraid of me, so I’m hoping it’s not too late to do these steps.
Omg. I thought I was the only one with this problem.....
Sad
Love your videos! I got 2 budgies 5 days ago 3 months old and tonight one of them was eating a bit millet right out of my hand, and rested his foot on my hand. My other budgie I can sense he isn't quite as comfortable but I'm feeling good about it so far! 😊
Im at level 3,5 i feed them out of their cage and they sit on my hand and i can give them kisses but they dont want cuddles yet its now day 9
(Sorry im not a native speaker)
Keep it up! you'll get there
I have two budgies.
I'm glad I could help.
Best of luck :)
i have a shy budgie from the petstore and im going to get a handtamed one. Will he bond to me or the petstore budige?

I'm on the flock member stage :D
I got a new budgie on Thursday. he's pretty chill when I put my hand in his cage, but backs away if i move it towards him

I’ve had my birds for a whole month and I’ve done all of these steps and I’m still on level 0
Oof.
GENIUS. It’s a very smart and creative idea. I liked the idea so much I wrote down some tips and hanged it near my budgie
I like the idea of the FPFCT scale it helps a lot . 💖
I got my new budgie yesterday and this video is very good 👍 👌 👏
A tip if your bird is scared of millet (idk why my budgies where terrified of it) hang it in the cage where you have hung other food before, or where they often sit. Hope this helps 💕💕💕
That's true for veggies as well or any type of food or toy, if you are trying to introduce something new to your bird, you can always try to use your bird's comfort zone
Today my budgies ate from my hand for the first time
I'm so happy :)
I’m starting to go to level 3, I’m teaching bamboo to step up on my finger and today he did great!!
LOL! Thanks!
best budgie taming vid
-Amazing!- I came from *Facebook*
plzzz make a video on how to tame a scared budgie bcoz my budgies are totally scared of me
Video making is in progress...
Nicely organised and explained. Thank you for sharing your years of experience with budgerigars.
It’s great.
Such a educational video with lots of tips. I have two budgies and have reached level 2
i’m on level 3 with my budgie Kermit and i’ve had him for 4 weeks. he lets me hold and pet him, but i want him to know he’s safe with me and can relax when im around. thank you so much for the advice- it’s really come in handy!!!!
Thank you for an excellent presentation and for sharing your love and experience with budgerigars!

Your explanation and taming tips are great 👍 you earned a sub 😀
Truly amazing. All those videos that were hard to understand, didnt help me at all. But this video? Simple! Easy! Thanks for all the advice, and it seems like im on level 2 with my budgie.
I'm glad I could help! and if you are at level 2, that's awesome you have passed the hardest part :) good luck and keep climbing!
I have 3 parakeets amd i think max likes me the most but hes scared when hes in the cage but when he comes out he is the nicest bird I have
Ive had my two white budgies a week tomorrow and we are on level 2. Never had birds before, we got them for our little girl who loves them.
Your budgies are beatifull
Thank you
I follow a very different approach.
You make the best budgie videos
oh wow! , thank you very much for this compliment, I deeply appreciate that!
id say im level 2.5 and ive had my budgie for a little over a week now. we are getting there!
