    THIS STORY:
On October 24, 1992, the severed arms of 19-year old Diana Vicari were found in a dumpster in downtown Tuscon, Arizona. Vicari had disappeared several days earlier. Soon afterwards, Tabitha Armentha, a 35-year-old prostitute, was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a man at knifepoint. Investigators believed that the two crimes were connected.
Police began to suspect Lemuel Prion, who had a criminal record and had often talked about sexually assaulting or hurting women.
In 1999, Prion was tried for murdering Vicari and assaulting Armentha at the same trial. On January 28, 1999, Prion was convicted of the first-degree murder of Vicari and the kidnapping and aggravated assault of Armentha, and sentenced to death.
In August 2002, the Arizona Supreme Court unanimously overturned the conviction, ruling that the trial court should not have heard Vicari’s and Armentha’s cases at the same time, and should have allowed the defense to present evidence indicating that another suspect had committed the murder. On March 14, 2003, the Pima County Attorney’s Office dismissed all charges against Prion, and he was returned to Utah to serve out the remainder of his previous sentence.

Thank you for sharing Diana's story. Although it's tragic, it keeps her memory alive. She was a good friend of my brother, it was devastating to him and her family. Her mother and sister fought and advocated for justice. They both have since passed away, unfortunately with no justice being served. But now they're all reunited in heaven.

Horrific! Not to mention how bad the justice system is, I won’t rant. I do try to be Christian like when I think fair punishment would be for her killer to fall in a box of machetes and lose both arms thus leaving him without the ability to pick his nose or wipe his behind! I don’t understand how his conviction was overturned just because he said he wasn’t allowed to present another possible suspect. I hope he really wasn’t released on the public because it sounds like the jury got it right the 1st time. If a judge found that he didn’t get a fair trial, why wasn’t there a new trial?

@Meena Robertson…because we have too many bleeding heart activists and judges who believe that these evil, wretched people can be rehabilitated. A sociopath or a psychopath CANNOT be rehabilitated, just as pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. It’s just the ways their brains are wired and that can’t be changed. I don’t care how much therapy they get or what medications they are put on, the wiring of the brain is a permanent problem. The only way to prevent these people from harming others is to remove them permanently from the gene pool.

I live in Tucson & remember when this happened. Everyone was horrified. Searches were conducted to find other body parts, in dumpsters across the city. No more were found.

Very very sad story. I was wondering how they found out they were in fact her arms? DNA test? Or just a picture of her which matched the arms to her body? Such a tragic thing to happen😢😢

Bizarre died in a hit and run while riding on an ATV with her stepfather. The guy who hit left after checking his car. He supposedly said his family, wife, & kids will be apart forever. On the find a grave website shows paper article.

The newspaper reported that she contracted a virus, and that coupled with her severe asthma caused her to die of respiratory failure. Poor momma. Surely she and Diana are in Jehovah's memory.
