As a Dutchman I can say we all hate wielrenners even as fietsers.
I recognize that there are insane cyclists, but people should recognize that there are asshole drivers who have it out for cyclists. Not to mention Canada's bike infrastructure is complete garbage. Our country has a fetish for designing everything around cars, with everything being at minimum a 20 minute walk (with the exception of Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal).
Nobody thinks there isn't asshole drivers. Not a single person whose ever had to spend any length of time on a road using any style of vehicle. Also, add Ladysmith and Victoria to that list.
20m would be a dream in southern ontario. Walking to an appointment at the hospital is 30 minutes one way. Agreed, most of his issues would be solved if we had proper bike lanes instead of glorified shoulders. I feel like such an ass biking on the sidewalk but there's no better option. The drivers are right to be annoyed, but what they don't always realize is that the object of their frustration should be the city planning and not the bikers themselves.
