    I think one of the reasons that when you walk through Jessica’s garden it is so much more than what you see on UA-cam is because she make sure God’s love lives there and you feel it when you’re in that space

    Great video Jill! I'd like to give you a tip though...those glass weights are supposed to stay inside the jar to keep the veggies under the water line. :)

  • @littleacrehomestead8914
    @littleacrehomestead8914 3 роки тому +14

    The weights are suppose to be left in the jar to keep everything under the brine. So no mold grows on top. Looks yummy!! Will def be trying this if I ever get beets or radishes wo grow right.

    Of all the comments I have made on your videos, I hope that you see this one the most. You have introduced so many of your friends to us, and I just have to say.. of all of them, this girl is HERE for you. You can tell just by the way she interacts with you, and looks at you when you speak that she is 100% genuine, and will 100% have your back when you need it. All of your friends have been lovely, but you can just tell that this one is on another level. Keep this one!!!

    Hey there Jill, Just thought I would let you know that the glass weights in your ferment kit are meant for leaving in the jar on top to keep your veggies under the liquid , and then you put the lid on. Never too late if you want to put that glass weight in now. Love the show on fermenting radishes and beets, I'm going to give your recipe a try, thank you very much.

    I see you guys have grown from about 9000 subscriptions when I joined to almost 40,000. That's not surprising to me. I just feel better after watching you guys the way you and Nathan love each other and try to love your community and openly love God. I think you guys are doing a great job and will continue to be blessed and grow.
    I think God is blessing Jess and Miah with the advanced beautiful garden just to help with their transition away from there to the new place. Which will benefit you guys as well. That's what happens when you align your life with God's will. Keep up the good work and God bless you all.
    I bless you till next time

    I think the day counter is supposed to be set to the date you started, not changed every day from 0, I know I would 100% forget to change it every day. I have a bunch of reusable containers with a similar lid so you can set the date you put leftovers in the fridge

    I have tried planting radishes so many times and I only get the greens 😆 for it being so simple to do I just haven’t had success. But for some reason I am growing a mango tree from seed 🤷🏻‍♀️ and that’s suppose to be hard to do. I will not give up though.

    To prepare beets for pickling as childhood garden we cooked beets cutting off tops abt 2-3" above the beets, leaving root on. Boil in big pan or pot till fork tender. Allow to cool then peel just using ur hands. Skins come right off easily. Slice or chop in pcs bite-sized. Prepare vinegar, sugar and salt solution with pickling spices, heat and add sliced beets, cook for time to heat beets thru. May add few pcs or rings of onion if prefer. Prepare canning jars and lids, fill & seal. Let all cool to properly seal & store in refrigerator or fruit cellar.

    Grew and harvested my very first beet ever today, wasn't sure what to do with it, cooked it in boiling water and ate it with butter, so good. Now I have something else to try doing with the others. I make a fermentation starter so I am going to try using that, did you peel the beet before cutting it up or just leave the peel on? Now I just have to grow some radishes. Thanks for the idea.

      It's different for different things. I've done cabbage and pickles. I really enjoyed both, but my husband says they tasted like farts. Lol. I guess it's not for everybody, but I'd definitely say to give it a try. It's a fun experiment either way. And you don't really need the special gear to get started. Just use a jar and leave the lid cracked to allow it to breathe.
