    Lots of respect for your willingness to help a quality gunsmith grow his business. Hopefully he’s also taking care of you on price for your own stuff. I know u aren’t promoting to get free or discounted work, but that’s how relationships are supposed to work. One hand washes the other. If we all practice that a little more, we won’t have to rely on “the man” as much as we do. God bless bro.

      Rick is a really good friend, and he has been kind to me here and there. But I also believe in supporting (and paying for) honest quality work that is rare to find in niche markets.

    Vp9 was my first handgun purchase and I took a long while to decide on what I would get...still best decision I've made. Absolutely love it. Been looking at purchasing a 45 for a while now and I'm thinking about the hk45 with an lem.

    It’s weird that people buy combat ready guns and complain about heavy triggers. I liked your analogy about the semi and racecar. People have to realize that a heavy trigger pull in a high stress environment like a war zone or robbery is a must because of adrenaline. I can guarantee in a life and death scenario, someone isn’t going to notice a long reset or double action pull. If that were the case then the military would make it a requirement. What heavy travels really do is help prevent wasting ammo, unintentional discharges, and shooting friendliest. A target shooting competition is the opposite because a trigger pull affect your split times and can make the difference between first and second place.

      nah, it's just a bad trigger, that is all. Plenty of combat ready guns with short and crisp SA triggers that don't feel like you're squishing wet noodles out of a can.

    Sir, I'm a retired Marine who owns several HK handguns. My Favorite being the P30L. However, comma, it's the DA/SA (non-safety) variant. Your LEM videos convinced me to have it converted preferably by Lazy Wolf. My challenge is figuring out exactly what parts are needed for the modification. HK Parts lists numerous items for various versions. As a retired Marine, I need the keep it simple stupid (KISS) answer. Having said that, is their a kit or do I need to purchase each individual part? Appreciate your videos and assistance... Semper Fi, Ken

    Really enjoy your videos. Just plain simple useable information. I own a couple P-30L weapons. One has the LEM the other doesn't. My question is this, do they make a flat trigger for the P-30? I have them on my, well, the OTHER German pistols. You know, the 320. The flat trigger really made a difference with my shooting. Thanks.

    The VP9 trigger is the best when comparing it to the nuclear fallout the other triggers are. It still is trash, but its 'good' for a striker gun.

    Owning a couple M1 PPQ's & a P99C AS along with a VP9SK the trigger resets & breaks look very similar to my stock Walther's. A P30SK is next purchase so does a guy go for the V1 or V3 trigger? The more I see recently it seems I may go V1 LEM. Great video here.

    Good to know I am not far off from a true professional. At least in reset length, I am sure his feel is much better.
    My P30S reset was just terrible, keep in mind my USP expert 45 is my favorite range gun so you know the difference. Luckily I am a machinist and knew exactly what was causing the issue. About an hour later I had a beautiful reset with proper retention of all safety features minus the actual thumb safety due to my using a standard p30 control lever. I like to rest my firing hand thumb on the lever and the S model has shorter slide release levers.
    Glad I just ran into your channel man, right up my alley! Keep up the good content

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  6 років тому +3

      I'm glad you were able to make it work. I know what you mean about the P30 reset. It is a trade-off because that gun has been rigorously tested to failure, and it took some 91,000 rounds. That's hard to criticize. Still a competent gunsmith and a little TLC can make the trigger takeup and reset a lot more enjoyable.

      Varied lengths of pull for different hand sizes, color options for personal preferences, flexibility in adjusting break-point tension, pre-travel preferences, and a desire to tinker and experiment because this is America and we don't need a reason. Just so you know, I know this and the previous USP posts are four years old. That said, I have the same issue with my USP which I bought new in the year 2000. The factory trigger was not an issue when I was 46. It is a problem at almost 69. I want to improve the DA trigger pull. There are no Universal LEM Kits available from any source I have contacted, including HKParts. A "short reset" mod is available which smooths the DA pull, but, does not reduce the weight significantly. Is the "short reset" worth doing? Do you have any suggestions for sourcing a LEM trigger kit? Are there trigger modifications other than these that would at least partially solve my delima? I am in dire need of assistance. Can you help, please?

    Wonderful videos Sean...thank you...
    Do you have and comments or info on the 3 drop in trigger options that LWG offers for the VP9 and how each trigger may be appropriate for a specific shooter? From the curved...flat faced and full flat faced. The descriptions on Hk parts is not sufficient for a active range shooter like myself to make an educated decision.
    Thank you kindly
    Dave

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  6 років тому +1

      I do. I have the full flat on three of my VP guns. It breaks straight up and down instead of at a backwards cant. That means it feels like a 1911 trigger and mitigates the risk of missing the target when "mashing" the trigger. It makes me more accurate. I like it a lot. Should a VP9L ever come out, I would heavily consider running that with the full flat trigger in some matches. The other two are variations on the same concept and will produce better trigger control results. The curved is particularly good for those with short fingers. My wife will be running one on her competition VP9 within a month.

    I came here looking for trigger answers for a p30sk. I'm mystified why the p30's have such long reset.
    It seems when people judge triggers, the reset length is the highest priority, and pistols under $400 (canik) have much shorter resets.
    Why is this? Who would want such a long reset?

    • @shinigami1925
      @shinigami1925 4 роки тому +1

      Simple answer is the P30 passes both the NATO and German federal drop tests for service pistols. Look them up, they’re pretty severe, arguably more severe than the standard US testing protocols. The reset is an artifact of the safety systems needed to pass those tests. Not to say one that Lone Wolf has modified is “unsafe” in any way, they are acclaimed for their reliability, but that’s what the HK engineers did to ensure reliability and safety in the military and federal testing.

      @@SeanGoBoomThanks for the insight. What are your thoughts on his short reset kit? Any experience with it? Some people on the forums and on UA-cam have positive things to say about the kit, but I doubt any of them are putting as many rounds through their pistols as you. I figured the kit is drop in, it either works or it doesn't, and it doesn't require any permanent mods. The only risk is the cost and of course voiding a warranty - but that goes anytime a modification of any sort is done.

      I have a feeling your follow up question was clearly already answered in Sean’s answer above. I’ve never had an issue with any parts I’ve bought from GG, but I would not be inclined to send an HK there these days, based on lead times and current reputation. In the big scheme of things this is a small community and word travels fast. I will say, GG seems to still have a good rep when it comes to SIG parts and pistols. Hope they address whatever their issues may be, in the past Bruce Gray was THE HK guy.

    I was thinking about getting the USP expert 9mm, but I'm just curious, do you think the design is at all dated? Maybe it's just the aesthetics that make me think it is I'm not sure...the only thing about it that I legitimately dislike is no pic rail.

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  6 років тому +1

      It is an incredibly proven platform. Tested to hell and back. Dated? Why? Because of a pic rail? (Or lack thereof, rather). No. Not at all. 1) I'm not a fan of having things mounted to my pistol unless I need it for a very specific application. 2) there are pic rail adapters for the USP family of guns 3) Aesthetics are funny. I used to not like the looks of BMWs, then I drove a 5-series... then I bought a 5-series. I fell in love with the way they looked after that. I didn't used to like the look of the USP line. I think the P30 / VP9 / HK45 lines look sexier... but then I started shooting this USP Expert and it has just grown on me. To me, now, it is the sexiest pistol I could imagine. I can't go a day without touching her. When I sent all 3 of my USP Experts away for maintenance at the end of my competition season last month, I went through withdrawals. I shot local matches with my P30L competition pistol I used to use before I switched... and it just wasn't the same. So, I mean... "dated" is a fashion thing. It is an on-looker thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but effectiveness is in the hands of the practitioner. To me, the tool that helps me execute to the best of my ability is the most beautiful

    Hey Sean, what is the reason for the (not pulling the trigger to get the slide off) safety feature??

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  6 років тому

      Yeah. There are even police departments that have changed from Glock to the VP9 because of that safety feature. A lot of dumb people have had a round in the chamber when they've removed their mags and started to field strip their guns and caused NDs and it is nice to just remove that variable from the core design of the gun itself.

    • @shinigami1925
      @shinigami1925 4 роки тому

      They say the loudest sound is a “click” when you need a “boom”. The second loudest is a “BOOM” when you expect a “click”. A LOT of ND’s with Glocks are traceable to people preparing to field strip their Glocks (and XD’s) . I have a friend who actually put a 9mm hollow point right through his left hand that way (and of course ignoring all four of the safety rules).

    Just sent my VP9 in to LWG to have he flat face trigger installed along with lightening up the trigger for competition, so you think it’s worth it to do the PFTE treatment for a novice competition shooter? Like will I even notice and/or really extend the life of the work? Thanks!

    hey was that SUPS in some of those action shots?! I actually chose the VP over P30 specifically because I didn't like how long the trigger reset was, makes me somewhat wish I watched this video and the LEM video before making that decision. not that I am unhappy with the VP! speaking of, do you think the lobos trigger makes the gun less safe other than the disassembly issue? I really wanted to try out a solid metal trigger, assuming that was the "competitor's triggers" you were talking about

    Hey Sean! I need your help buddy. My trigger return spring on my V2 P2000 LEM has broken twice now (not even 150 rounds through the gun, all of it happened under dry fire)
    My theory: I wasn't fully dry-firing the gun, I was just playing with the "take-up/play" however you wanna put it with the LEM. I think that put constant overpressure on the trigger return spring and broke the bottom part of it off, twice. Second time was because my pops insisted on using ground-down needle nose pliers, we ordered the actual tool for it from HKParts.net (which happens to be down the street from us)
    I ordered some groovy nickle-plated and orange snap caps and plan on not playing with the lem like before, just pulling through to the break and putting 250 rounds of 40 thourhg it as soon as i put in the next spring.
    Id love to know your thoughts.
    Your mate,
    -J

BTW as good as your videos are I couldn't believe you didnt have atleast 20x the followers you do. Thank man!

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  7 років тому

      Thanks for the kind words. The only thing that is different about the match trigger over the regular trigger is the little screw in the back that let's you adjust for over-travel, and a better hammer spring. I have the match trigger kit in mine with a stock (normal) USP trigger and an LEM kit (plus all the work Rick did to fine tune it. I would forego the match trigger because it is a metal screw in a plastic trigger that will inevitably wear over time. With as many rounds as I do, in a season, I've already replaced it once on a couple of my guns. In my opinion, it is a stupid feature that you can just train around. If you don't have it, you aren't used to it, so don't bother. I LOVE the LEM conversion. Before the VP9 came out, all of the guys in the team were shooting LEM guns (P30Ls mostly). So long story short, I think you'd be fine with an LEM conversion and I think you'll love it. Another middle ground idea would be to just send it to Rick for a tune up. He can tell you what parts need to be replaced and give your gun a new lease on life by taking out some of the slack.

      Rick is great to consult with on that. I don’t see why a 4 lbs trigger pull would be a problem with the LEM configuration. Like anything else training is the most important element here.
