Dude, this is honestly such a good direction for this channel. As much as I like the horrible Steam trash, I do LOVE this new content. And looking at the number of available PS2 era games, you'll probably never run out of stuff to play! :D
What a lot of people don’t seem to know is that in the original Dracula book, Van Helsing is just like, a professor guy who knows a bit more about vampires
Honestly, a movie about Van Helsing studying vampires and investigating a series of deaths and sickness caused by one would be really cool, like a horror themed dramatic and suspenseful detective story. Although to me, the crucifix stuff never made sense. Maybe the story could have a subtext of faith and science since Van helping is coming up against stuff that go against his naturalistic world view
@@prestonowens4594 How would the crucifix driving away vampires not make sense? They're demonic entities and are driven away by the visage of Jesus Christ.
@@BraydenCannon It’s true. He’s not like a total action badass or anything. He’s some professor dude who knows how to defeat them and then he goes with the real estate agent to put a stake in Drac’s chest. That’s it.
I fucking remembering beating this for the first time getting the mini-gun and then just sat in my room for the next day just slaughtering my way through the game over and over with the mini-gun since it can kill most things in the game in like 2 hits and that's how I spent one of my days as a teen
I want to go back to when a cash grab was a cheap DMC copycat and not a game as a service mmo with a third of it's hard disk space comprising of microtransactions XD
Van Helsing and Solomon Kane are both wonderful films in their own way. I expect Stephen Sommers probably took a lot of inspiration from Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane character and stories when reimagining Van Helsing for his Action-Adventure film. In turn, the 2009 Solomon Kane film almost certainly owes some of its existence to the success of the 2004 Van Helsing film as proof-of-concept that an austere and mysterious badass in a big hat fighting monsters has a viable market. The snake eats its own tail. I just freaking love this era and sub-genre of movies. I live in constant hope/dread that we will see a revival.
I picked this up at one of those discount bins back in the day. For the price of a candy bag, it wasn't bad. I beat it a few times and thought "huh, maybe movie tie ins are alright these days." I was a fool to think that.
It's great to see that you enjoyed your time with this game, and I'm glad the comments echo that. This game is of a rare breed. It's actually hilarious that two of the best movie tie-in games have Hugh Jackman in them. Speaking of, X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged _does_ have a PC port that it'd be cool to see you play.
Dont know why Universal even bothered starting the Dark Universe. Van Helsing is the Endgame of what wouldve been the DU already. the only thing it was missing was Abbott and Costello.
Fixed camera angles had a grip on developers like 20 years ago. I’m playing through assassins creed 2 and there are tons of random sections that inexplicably use fixed camera angles
I remember getting this as a gift from an older cousin and it was an older game in a generic gamestop box etc but the sell on how cool this game was how much it fucked, really built it up. I should stop saying i haven't played devil may cry this is close enough
No but that is supposed to be Dr jeckle and Mr Hyde in the film that the game is based on mr Hyde is the first (monster) he fights but no it is not the same mr Hyde from league of extraordinary gentlemen hope this helps
I played the shit out of this game as a kid. Literally played it one time on a crtv on a coffee table at my parents bar while everyone else was watching Obama get placed into office haha.
They could not have been more off about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Jekyll was a good guy who was trying to help humanity no way he would have kidnapped a girl, And Mr hyde didn't take hostages he mostly just ripped them apart.

Hard agree 👍👍👍 keep the hits coming Oboe
Yeah I loved when he played old 360 /wii games. I have got some real gems from his steam games tho
Way easier to find trash than gold games.
Either way with oboes sense of humor he can do whatever and it'll be good.
I just want more games with AI-generated theme songs.
“I’m trying to read Gamefaqs, fuck off.” Is one of the most PS2 era sentences I’ve ever heard.
What a lot of people don’t seem to know is that in the original Dracula book, Van Helsing is just like, a professor guy who knows a bit more about vampires
I think the leslie nielsen vampire movie is very accurate

In what way? Like how is it accurate?@@Sinner987

Right!? Where theres some actual fun to be had, some game to play, not menus and are you sures?

What do you think about the "priest" movie with the vampires? The antagonist is karl urban with a wide brimmed hat
I picked this up at one of those discount bins back in the day.
For the price of a candy bag, it wasn't bad. I beat it a few times and thought "huh, maybe movie tie ins are alright these days."
I was a fool to think that.
yeah the real action is game tie in movies!
Bighead Hugh Jackman emerging from behind the wagon was pretty wild.
This and revenge of the sith were very underrated movie tie in games of the time
Ah yes the 2000's when every movie with mr. Hyde just made him the Hulk.
I’m beginning to think Oboe has not seen the movie. Which he totally should. It’s pretty cool
The Van Helsing DVD actually comes with a demo level for the original Xbox version of the game. Still have my old copy
I wonder how the Xbox 360, One, and Series would handle that? Run it as a DVD? Toss it to the Xbox emulator? Hm.
Playing Devil May Cry clone while insist on not using melee attack was so on brand for Oboe.
8:03 how did he possibly hyde?

I was obsessed with this movie as a teen. I made my brother play this game. Loved it.
Dracula's minions: "I cast Fireball!"
Van Helsing: "I, too, cast fireball."
*bang bang bang bang*
"Not fair! That's not Fireball, that's Shrapmetal!"
homie plays a DMC clone game and spends the whole time shooting "This is riveting game play!" and hasn't even touched the melee combos. Bruh.
To be fair those pizza cutters don't look fun to use at all
Bad game design
It is awesome, I loved this game as a teen

Got this game from a gamestop as a kid for 89 cents and didnt get more then 5 minutes in cuz i hated the camera angles lol
Still got my PS2 copy! This was the GOAT!
Loving the uploads, Oboe!
I remember getting this as a gift from an older cousin and it was an older game in a generic gamestop box etc but the sell on how cool this game was how much it fucked, really built it up. I should stop saying i haven't played devil may cry this is close enough
I remember playing this. Good choice!
I sold my PS2 copy of this game way back in the day, to afford a new GPU. Still mad at my younger self to this day, i had a lot of fun playing it.
how can someone with a gaming channel be so terrible at every game..
ON EASY MODE
It's just Oboe and part of his charm.
if he likes this he NEEDS to play devil may cry. minimum he should just perceive the opening like 20 minutes of dmc3
bro this is literally DMC 1 lmao
I'm pretty sure you start in a castle that looks vaguely like this
Dude I always tried playing this game but my disc froze on one of the early missions every time 10 year old me was so upset
I remember convincing my dad to buy me this after the movie came out ahhh great times
I was almost offended when you said Solomon Cain was the same as Van Helsing, but I can't argue the point you're right lmao
I just played this, it's really well made.
The closest thing to playing a dmc game
This was my favorite when I was a kid 😅
The PS2 had some pixels, thats for sure.
Hahaha somebody discovered one of my childhood favorites! :3
I have this game and have never once played it.
Time to dig out the PS2.
This isn't the first time they adapt the movie van hellsing into a game I remember in my childhood in my Gameboysp van hellsing
2:10 Looks like Mr Hyde from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie. Is this a crossover episode?!?
No but that is supposed to be Dr jeckle and Mr Hyde in the film that the game is based on mr Hyde is the first (monster) he fights but no it is not the same mr Hyde from league of extraordinary gentlemen hope this helps
Demon Hunter Oboe really Devil May Cry 2’d us with this one
My grandad got me this and x men 2 wolverines revenge for my birthday when they near enough released.
im in awe of PS2ugh Jackman
also oh NO it does the dmc2 thing where you can just shoot everything
Van helsing 04 had the best Frankenstein design
Also the best Hyde.
I had this game for Xbox as a kid and got chicken pox and got to stay home and play it
This movie is so good IMO
I played the shit out of this game as a kid. Literally played it one time on a crtv on a coffee table at my parents bar while everyone else was watching Obama get placed into office haha.
He looks like Wolverine in the face
It's almost like they're the same actor 😅
Bro actually thought he was on to something 🤣
Ever since oboe found out that ai can help you make videos everything has changed
It actually is pretty good.
Dude you gotta play darkwatch!
55:32 and here i thought a .44 magnum is an anti ghost gun
So this is BB with 60fps
I was an edgy 13 y/o when this game/movie came out. It was the best!
They could not have been more off about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Jekyll was a good guy who was trying to help humanity no way he would have kidnapped a girl, And Mr hyde didn't take hostages he mostly just ripped them apart.
The whole point was that Jekyll was trying to remove all his evil, but it became Hyde.
@KopperNeoman yeah I know read the book. Just if Jekyll was to come out of it he wouldn't leave her tied up.
Looks more like the undertaker than jackman
Literal Hue Jackman.
I’m not religious but Kain from the bible I believe is the first “vampire”… so yeah, crosses should be good.
You being religious is irrelevant, the Cross itself has power over vampires because their entire shtick is a Satanic mockery of Christ's Passion.
Great video
But I’m just saying, if you enjoyed this you GOTTA WATCH THR MOVIE! It’s criminally underrated
I remember being absolute shit at this game and having to watch my brother play it to see more than the first like hour
can oboe pls play dmc 2 :) very good game.
Strange people usually say that's the weakest in the trilogy
Bus Heavenhum
this guy can jump 3 times his own height lmao
also what's up with the big head
1:59 why is she such a baddie???? They spent to much on just her graphics
Halo reach introduction was cooler 🥱
So dmc 2
3
60fps? So this garbage is already better than Bloodborne xddd
Please no more easy mode plays lol
Now he needs to play Ghostbusters for the 360, I remember that being pretty good
never seen this
