In my old band, I was the drummer and we had a rhythm guitarist in the band who was *THE most senior member of the group…*
Couldn’t play guitar to save his soul back then haha
BUT his personality, his ability to grind the parts for the years we played together to make it show-ready was one of the most admirable things about him. Everybody- from the other bands to the audience- loved him so much and no one gave a DAMN about his playing. (he’s since improved and joined other bands on his own merits)

totally with you on the visualization and manifestation - it's not corny, it works. your mindset is everything!!

i sooo appreciate this video right now! i've been teaching myself for a little over three years now and i'm going to audition soon for this local band who reached out in need of a drummer and nothing gives me more imposter syndrome than that!! lol
Like you said and I try to remember, there's a million drummers but only one ME, so i just continue to learn, support others, make connections, believe in myself & the right opportunity for me will come! =)

I think if you have that true passion for playing, it shines through much brighter than technical skills.

Being technical is great, but how I’ve landed gigs or stuck around in bands was my ability to not only write my parts but able to think about songs as a whole and apply the techniques I know in a creative and dynamic way while also serving each song. Doesn’t hurt that I also know how to play guitar and bass, understand each instrument individually and their relationship to each other, and write songs myself so I can better understand what the players around me might want. It’s not always about doing what you want to do, I have other band members to consider and need to help shine.

I find myself commenting every morning on all your vids 😭 but duuuudeeeee I have a major tour coming up this year in the fall and yeah I’m super intermediate 😂😂 I’ve never even played in front of an audience before besides the internet 🌚 people don’t know I just started in May 2023 🥴 I just can play the songs and practice everyday and hope for the best and scratch my head 🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ I just happen to know the artist for the past few years and he thought the covers to his music were dope.

Keep practicing & your confidence will grow ! Also watch other players and how they approach similar music genre & experiment with sounds and tones . It’ll feel better as you move along it’s ok to be excited but you shouldn’t feel intimidated inside just breathe and play what feels good obviously your artist is enjoying your groove . 🎉🎶❤️🐭

I just manifest my free miter saw a few days ago. And I always seem to end up with stuff like this happening all the time..at first I wasn't even catching on..then it was impossible to ignore how obvious it was that it was happening.
    It's true...

    Look at lars 😂

I agree with the overall message, but Chad Smith is a bad example imo. He has one of the best pockets in the world, and that took TONS of practice. But yeah agreed with most of this!

Its easier to practice pocket than mastering chops like proper chops, in mi opinion

    Lars Ulrich. Nuff said.
He's a good drummer, but not even close to the best. And he's in one of, if not THE biggest metal bands in the world.

But he started the band. "Not landed the gig". i do agree with you though 😂

    • @RainMakeR_Workshop
      @RainMakeR_Workshop 3 місяці тому

@@bartvanlier4898 Yeah, but my point was more that, despite there being far more technically skilled drummers out there. The band have chosen to stay with Lars. Be it for loyalty or legal reasons. Nothing would stop them forming another band, but they haven't. James has said he won't even do side projects (though he was in another band as a drummer back in the 80's).

I think Metallica is always going to be running off the momentum built up from the 80's.
The loyalty and love for their biggest hits allows them to pack stadiums, even though Lars plays like he never practices.
