My daughter and I still shed a tear and smile when we hear the theme song It brings back all the Memories of her and I shaping a life together on our own. Need more Movies like this that explore Human pathos with sensitive and deep characterization with humor and intellect We dont Need more Reality shows showing the worse in people or movies riddled with sex violence or human dark nature but Inspiring Drama Comedy that uplifts the Soul
This movie will make the hulk cry! And the music tears you apart. It makes me think of everyone that. I have loved, and lost due to death. I will love it for life
This is a great movie about human emotion & interaction. This movie was a turning point in Jack Nicholson's career. It showed he had range. This movie will test if you truly have depth, & feeling. In other words, it'll test if your human, or not.
Such touching music. 1983 was an interesting year for me because it was the end of my time at summer camp and it was also the end of Archie Bunker on TV.
This movie is about family, about realationships and about love. It has a sequel "Evening Star," which follows the lives Emma's children who were raised by Aurora after Emma died, and another man who came into Aurora's life.
dnanidreffmc: durn Larry McMurtry: all his writings end w/ a teardrop... 'cept maybe that one about an art collector or book Anything For Billy. Still he's a favorite.
Have believe this since "Terms of Endearment" was released: Jack Nicholson = Best Supporting Actor Debra Winger = BEST ACTRESS Shirley McLaine = BEST APPLICATION OF SELF INTO A SCREEN ROLE (and therefore the Academy Award)
I just watched Terms of Endearment for the first time in a long time and I cried like a baby when Emma died due to my dad passed away from cancer too almost 17 months ago. I really miss him 🥺🥺🥺.
Look, I'm sorry about this but I can't help it, and I can't talk to you for too long or I'll get real upset. I want you to make a lot of friends. And I want you to be real nice to the girls 'cause they're gonna be real important to you, I swear. Tommy: I'm not afraid of girls. What makes you think that? Well, you may be later on. Tommy: I doubt it. Teddy: Why don't you shut up? Shut up! Tommy: You shut up!
I swear watching the goodbye scene with her boys, the younger one comes back into the room and says something like "But I'll cry!", and Debra says, "No, I'll cry, stupid!", then they both sing out some kind of jingle or song that they both liked, then they hug...did that scene actually exists? I ask because I remember my Mom rewinding that scene over and over again crying and telling me to remember that scene for when she died...she died this past February and I am trying to figure out if this scene exists...does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
Not in the original movie, but maybe in a outtake. I remember when the oldest boy (Tommy) says something to his mother, and the youngest (Teddy) screams to his Tommy..."Why don`t you shut up" (That was his seceond time in the movie when he said it to his oldest brother). And the Tommy just says.."You shut up". Then Emma says something to Tommy, that he is not hating her, but he loves her. That`s what i know about this little masterpiece.
I think, watching the "Evening Star" might ruin our story line of "Terms of Endearment". And there's another man who came to aurora's life?? aww man, that will really ruin the whole setting of the story.
L'amore tra una madre e un figlio non finisce mai, e io spero che se esiste un dopo,in quel dopo di riabbracciarti e non lasciarti piu' andare via. Piu' mai piu'
Yes indeed, and it was a younger man (Bill Paxton) who also happened to have an affair with the character played by Miranda Richardson who was Emma's best friend! Not a good sequel really. don't watch it, its garbage. BTW, Aurora died in the sequel.
Here in 2020 and flooded by so many childhood memories. Thank you Debra! Thank you Shirley Mcclain and Thank you Jack Nicholson!
A masterpiece of a movie with a heartbreaking end.
One of my favorite movies of all time. After 11 years, I’m finally back to this video. ❤

So beautiful...
just beautiful, touches your soul. reminds me of losing special people in my life.
Exactly! I think of my childhood, the goodtimes, and my grandparents. The 80's were a happier place.

You just spoiled the movie for me. I was thinking of watching it but since I now know the outcome I won't.
Bossman still watch it it’s great
@DDukeThetruthatlast1. Yup, the real hulk! Lol! Im just sayin that its a really heart felt movie thats all.
Not anymore. Robert Harling directed it but it was still written by Larry McMurtry.
Look, I'm sorry about this but I can't help it, and I can't talk to you for too long or I'll get real upset. I want you to make a lot of friends. And I want you to be real nice to the girls 'cause they're gonna be real important to you, I swear.

Angela Hensley: no but you got Me crying.
Not in the original movie, but maybe in a outtake. :_) i love this move man wele wele
And BTW, James L. Brooks isn't the director of the sequel anymore.
@970jaga Thanks dear...:)
Where can I buy this music online?xx
Debra Winger rivista dopo molti anni,e' belliissima e brava in questo film
I think, watching the "Evening Star" might ruin our story line of "Terms of Endearment". And there's another man who came to aurora's life?? aww man, that will really ruin the whole setting of the story.

I feel that my own mom is actually Emma in a whole lot of ways more than one.
Sadly though, this was another movie where Debra Winger could not get along with her co-stars!
An almost forgotten little gem.
Mamma ti voglo bene
I wish they had never made The Evening Star. To me this ruined the integrity of Terms of Endearment. Should have just left well enough alone.
I might add theme song
Yes indeed, and it was a younger man (Bill Paxton) who also happened to have an affair with the character played by Miranda Richardson who was Emma's best friend! Not a good sequel really. don't watch it, its garbage. BTW, Aurora died in the sequel.
troppo poche le foto che ho insieme a te
La ma Mamma so cosa mi direbbe o vai fino in fondo o non hai altra scelta
Very much of it's time imo, not aged well
