That front bumper damage on the splitter both sides looks to me like forklift spars from moving it around the salvage yard...

@@SavingSalvage Copart damaging cars by poor handling?? Surely not ?? It's criminal the way they use forklifts the way they do. Looks like it was stolen and recovered as it was being stripped to be sold for spares

Trickle charge the battery. If it completely flat I seem to remember samcrac bringing one back from the brink. Linking one battery to the dead battery. Charging the better battery a while which put a little life into the dead one. That allowed him to then charge the dead one back to like Sometime in last 4 months I seen it think it was just after Ratarossa looked at his Ferrari

Get it up in the air see if there’s any underside damage indicative of rough joy riding before it was stripped out. If it’s all good I’d imagine the engine is just fine. Maybe you can order key set online and get it delivered despite the pandemic? Wait on the interior until the right breaker comes up. Get a temporary driver’s seat and perhaps some nice aftermarket wheels if the right ones don’t become available.

Hey I’ve recently done same thing with an Audi A1 got it with no keys minimal damage etc . I used AA key assist and if you give them the VIN they order the genuine key and the come to you and programme it there and then no need to take car to Audi dealer cost around £200 and you don’t have to be a member ..

VW polos are great cars please repair it dont seem to be a lot of body damage you'll be able to pick up some interior seating not sure about the wheels can be expensive but on the whole a nice car mine was a polo SE design 5 door 1.4 TDI blue motion on a 64 plate bought it brand new really miss it great video wouldn't like to guess how much you paid for your GTI

Take it vagcom can't code keys and you need ignition on to get it to run for diagnostics. Which probably flag up boot open, no seat airbags etc. You'll make headway am sure. And couple of well known tyre firms will come out to you if you only bought replacement alloys. Found 4 alloys on ebay that might be useful.

I am not sure if you have purchased an interior 19.5.2020. Many years ago I purchased an interior from a lightly rolled escort from a breakers.it was a genuine purchase.

If had to guess, £4500 you paid. Is it a DSG or manual, hard to tell. Does main dealer need the car to programme the key?! Used to be case I believe. Assume factory spacesaver one of ones on the car?! And two alloys on front worth selling after. Your body shop can do bumper. Maybe take whole car later for edge of the wing?!
Believe 1.8 190 engine vast improvement and cambelt instead of chain. Really nice car though doesn't look it. 👌😀

I tried, they need another key to be able to cut a new one. Also their software can’t code a key without one that’s already registered to the car.

Unfortunately with Volkswagen the only way to get a key cut is through the dealer. A locksmith can copy a current key blade to open the door but it won't start the car as the transponder won't work and VW only release the code to thier dealers.
