Like said, this riff is pure legend, I can't recall how many times I've listened to the Duncan comparison video with this track. Which by the way could be used to sample Schecter pickups as well, which don't have many demos around

    This thing is SICK !
This is the guitar I’ve been waiting for !
Mkiii design with the original trans white finish ! 🤯
Never played lundgren pickups but I trust u Kieth.
    I pulled the trigger,
It should be here by the 20th.
    Can’t wait ! 🤘😖
Still on back order … patiently waiting.
Can you do a review on it by chance ? Give an overview on the specs etc ..
that would be awesome if you can man. There’s literally no buzz on UA-cam about this guitar.
    Thanks brotha ! 🤘

I have a Mayones I have a few Ibanez prestige’s to some Jackson custom shops and some Kiesel’s plus some USA Ernie ball I can absolutely say without a shadow of a doubt the guitar that Keith Merrow has crafted with schecter is the best designed musical instrument to date I have the MK3 standard stealth grey with the predator inlays and I will absolutely put that sum bitch up against any USA made guitar that’s twice the price. These guitars are truly a work of art and the thing is I want the USA model but I have a hard time believing that it can be better than the standard lmfao so hopefully with the way the world is these over seas models aren’t suffering quality issues and I am still going after a US model good job Keith and thanks for all the sacrifices the research and headache and heartbreak that goes into coming up with these beast and thank for all the great music.

Well now that's interesting. I was just looking on the Schecter website for the KM-7 MK-III Artist to confirm a few specs as I'm really thinking of buying one soon. Surprised to see it has disappeared and been replaced with this model.
Lundgren pickups definitely sound fantastic but the versatility of the Fishman pickups was one of the big draws for the KM-7 Artist model for me personally. Probably gonna to be trading in an HSS 7 string Ibanez towards it so having the single coil sounds from the Fishmans (can't see coil split listed as a feature for this new 'Legacy' KM-7) at least means that is one feature of my Ibanez I won't miss too much. The AZ24047 (gotta love Ibanez model names) is a beautiful guitar with some cool features but it just doesn't have the tight feel, slim neck and resonance that I love from my Reaper-6 so pretty set on Schecter to be the ideal choice for my next 7 string.
I think the blue/red burst finish looks great on the Artist model too. A shame to see it go, but completely fair enough when an artist changes which component brands they work with. Just hope I can get one of the last Artist models before it's gone for good...never seem to be that many retailers in the UK that have it but at least one does currently have stock and does trade ins so I'd better pull the trigger soon...

    • @dreammachine86
      @dreammachine86 9 місяців тому

So, update to my previous comment. I did manage to get one of the last KM-7 Artists around. I tried to get the blue crimson one which I think looks absolutely fantastic, placed an order with a retailer that showed 2 in stock but turns out that was wrong. They told me most Schecter UK stock gets sent from a national distributor rather than being in the hands of the shop, so the stock levels they got from the distributor were wrong. Had that order cancelled and a refund. All other UK retailers showed out of stock/discontinued but Thomann were showing some of the black ones left, luckily that was right and I got one. The black finish is nice, very smart looking and matches well with the rest of the guitar but still nowehere near as stunning as the blue crimson. But it was £300 cheaper than the blue crimson so...saving £300 for a lick of paint at least makes me feel better about that.
The guitar plays incredibly well, it just feels easy to play which is great for a 7 string. The back of the neck is a work of art although I still just about prefer the smooth satin maple of my Reaper-6 so there's one advantage for this new Legacy model. The specs show the Legacy neck is just a little bit slimmer too. Having a load of models with comfortable ultra-slim necks is one thing I really appreciate from Schecter.
The Fishman pickups on the Artist model are fantastic, my favourite feature. Incredibly clear and it sounds like the guitar has already been profesionally mixed. Only things I'm not so keen on with them are the volume control feels like its just on or off. No dynamics to it i.e. being able to roll down the volume a bit to get a different sound. Don't know if that's inherent to the pickups or if it's the choice of volume pot. And the bass can compress a fair bit, so you don't really get the raw growl and resonance that you can from a high output passive. These are only very slight criticisms though, still amazing pickups overall and I'm very happy with them, definitely the best sounding guitar I've ever played (aside from the way the single coils sounded on a Suhr I tried but that's only in the context of a more vintage sound and was out of my price range anyway).
So I can understand why Keith wanted to change things up a bit, and go for a more organic sounding passive pickup with that low end growl perfect for djent. And one thing Agufish mentioned, by doing this more minimalist Legacy version not only pays tribute to the earlier KM models but also lets Schecter keep the price consistent rather than put it up like many other brands are doing atm. So I wish Keith and Schecter every success with this new Legacy model.
Hopefully the next guitar in my collection will be an MV-6 or possibly the Sweetwater exclusive purple Blackjack SLS Avenger with a Sustainiac if Sweetwater ship to the UK. Would also love to try the Sunset Triad, I reckon the 7 string would be awesome modded with a Gotoh trem to replace my Ibanez AZ as Schecters just seem to play so much nicer than everything else!

Nice guitar but overall it's a disappointment compared to the Artist series. Not adding a coil split on a guitar this expensive is ridiculous, ditching the knurled tuners, and having a maple top/veneer with that white finish seems like a wasted piece of wood. Imo it's not a very inspiring guitar when put next to the MK-III Artist (For nearly the same price). I have no doubt it's a great guitar but it does nothing for me personally. Glad Keith is with Lundgren though, maybe a new Artist series in the near future? The natural finish on the MK-III was awesome.

The pegs are replaceable for $20 from hipshot. I did it on my hybrid easy swap! Why they don't have them, I'm not sure. I think they massively look better with that headstock. Also a coil tap isn't too hard too do! It's big improvement over the hybrid fishmans that didn't even allow it😅
