The first two minutes spent on the whiteboard are very worthwhile. It is a straightforward account of the gun business that every consumer should realize. No one stays in business without following these simple rules to make enough money to pay overhead and buy groceries.
I’m like several other commenters in here, I love my G2c and am invested in mags and such. Since I have zero complaints I think I’ll just stick with it. I’d buy this if I were in the market for sure.
The only problem I see with this firearm is the fact that I am already invested in G2c, G3C and G3 mags. I looks like another home run from Taurus, but I don't need to purchase more mags. I sure the sales will be good.
Agreed though I'm not invested in any of those but there's a LOT of G2cs and G3s out there with a lot of 12 round mags and those are a very affordable option for people. Lots of people just need an affordable firearm to protect themselves. I'd of liked this a lot more if they'd of just make it a hair shorter in the grip and stuck with the 12 round mags but overall this looks like a winner. Good time to get some budget G2cs that will prolly be marked down.
Bro, mags cost nothing... And you don't need that many. $200 bucks and you can have more mags than you will ever need in your entire life. You really only need 3-4 mags though so you need to buy 1 or 2 extra mags 🤣 And this is your complaint
I have a G2C and a p365. The 365 is smaller and lighter. I love the G2C, great gun, reliable. You get what you pay for. The p365 is far better and well worth the price difference. Nothing against Taurus, they make good guns.
I will keep my G3c since I see nothing that this offers me that is worth the change.I upgraded from the G2c.I use 15 round mags and it fits in my front pants pocket just fine.👍🇺🇸
Seriously though the G3c and g2c were the #2 and #4 best selling handguns on the market so to lose that mag compatibility SUCKS and isn’t worth it for 1 more bullet. They should have kept the function and reliability record of the other pistols gave it a better trigger and a face lift and called it a day. Also why copy the gx4s homework? I was hoping the successor to this pistol would take design cues from their new 22 with the tip up barrel, that gun looks sick af.
I saw a video where the GX2 magazine can be dropped from an inch above the inverted pistol and the weight of a full mag will lock it in place ON A CLOSED SLIDE. What kind of dark magic is that? Obviously nobody is loading a pistol that way, but it speaks to how easy reloads are with the G2X. Most people are not going to need more than the two mags that ships with a defensive pistol, unless they pay a lot for range time and want to shoot a lot and not reload at the range.
I'm sorry, but I don't get it... I have a G3C and I dont see how this is an upgrade. And why would I buy this over a GX4 Carry, other than the safety? For that matter; why do they call it the "GX4 Carry" when the original GX4 is more suitable for concealed carry? They should have called it the GX4 XL or something.
My first Taurus was the G2C I carried it for a few years, upgraded it and never had a issue with it. Since then I've upgraded my edc to the Taurus GX4 carry which is Optic ready and more capacity. I do like the new offering, it looks similar to the GX4 carry but if your looking for a more reliable budget offering then the GX2 wouldn't be bad idea. Like someone said in the comments I've already vested into my OG G2C with mags and parts. I would definitely buy another Taurus down the line!
Their nomenclature is really confusing. There is a G2C, a G3C, a GX2 and GX4. It appears that the GX2 is a newer version of the G3c, yet bigger than the GX4...?
If that is dependable and continues the amazing value, it should be a home run. They could really combine the G2 & G3 lines into this new G2 updated tool set...Compact, Full, tac version, threaded barrels... solid posibilities.
I'd need to feel it and shoot it to know for sure, but I like the look and the idea behind it. A lot of us upgraded the trigger and got rid of the restrike anyways on the G2C/G3C. The mags are probably Mec-Gar like the G3 and GX4. Seems to be nice quality of life improvements. Edit: To my surprise, they don't use Mec Gar mags and are made in Brazil instead of the US.
@damiion666 that's true. I own a G2C, and it has never had a malfunction. I got it suped up with a Keep Tinkering SAO trigger and some TruGlo Tritium sights.
My guess is that Taurus wanted to eliminate the G2C/G3C/G3 line. I also guess that they will offer a 4 inch variant of the GX2 with 15-17 round capacity, changeable backstraps and a TORO option. They could have offered all of that on the first offering with the GX2, but hey, they're keeping the price point down intentionally to replace the G2C. They could save money by going to one style of trigger/internals across the entire product line.
@Bighannes410 My issue is calling it the replacement for the g2c, which seems like artificial marketing. This looks more like a GX4 variant. Feel free to explain it to me big guy. I am not too arrogant to be a lifelong learner.
I like my GX4, but I wouldn't mind a safety. I'm sure a lot of people just getting into it would like that too. I'll probably wait a year for the TORO version to come out then scoop one up.
Taurus makes great firearms, I just wish the finish on them was better. They scratch very easy. I was comparing the size of my former (got rid of it) G3c to my CZP10s and was holding them side by side. The G3c had scratch marks on it after the comparison and the CZp10s is still perfect like out of the box. I understand price is an issue when it comes to finishes, but still.
It was definitely an upgrade. They were supposed to cut the G2 out, but it just sold so well for $50 less it stuck around. It's definitely getting discontinued now.
What's the trigger pull like on it? Is it still spongy as hell like the G2C still??? I have a G2C .40 S&W and I honestly didn't like how the trigger felt it was too long of a pull and the reset was sometimes a hit or miss because like I said the trigger response was a spongy and sketchy feeling. So hopefully Taurus fixed that issue.
Just now heard of the GX2, myself. However, there's a $30 trigger upgrade that you can install in the G2, G2C, G3, and G3C that will make the trigger much better. Search for Keep Tinkering triggers. He has different sizes/shapes for different hand sizes and trigger-face preferences. They come in SA/DA and SAO, as well. I installed the SAO "Standard" trigger in my G2C, and it is really nice. Still has some take-up, but it's reduced. The wall is defined, break is crisp, and reset is short. I don't have a trigger pull guage, but I would guess it's somewhere between 4 and 4.5 pounds.
Hello, The height difference between the p365 and this GX2 is not really fair. Your presentation of the p365 was with its extended magazine and not the flush magazine. It is considerably shorter with the flush 10 round magazine. Still looks like an interesting firearm but not close to being as small as a hellcat or p365. If the track record proves to be like the others I think this should be a decent firearm for the money though.
Shooting left so close I think is because is left eye dominant not sights alignment. On the gun it looks better than the 3gc and have better recoil impuse other reviewers have said.
G3C upper with TH series safety and TX series lower. Looks good but this seems to be ending the G line of pistols so they could have made something a different. For that same price one could get a G3C with optic cut. looks good and like the trigger and magwell though. I guess stay with what works and add iterations as glock does so makes sense
I wonder if they were trying to come up with California compatibility and just decided to do a fresh look for everyone. Magazine safeties and manual safeties are easier to delete in markets that don't want them, than to add to pistols that aren't originally designed for them. We'll find out soon enough. I mean California just got the Canik Mete.
Everyone keeps talking about the G2C, but that's an old pistol, G3C is newer and better. Now the GX2 looks like the replacement to the G3C not the G2C.

I will say this much, $300 GX2 costs more than a $200 - $250 G2c and the street price as of now is in the $330 range so they are not making it more affordable. Like others have said, many of us are already invested in the G series and don't need the GX2. This may be a mistake switching to the GX series and not to keeping the already proven G series. Time will tell.
