    Love seeing those Texas assembled panels up on that pergola! Also enjoy that you're able to double your solar input as well. Looking forward to catching up on the content that follows this!

    1 month and only 2.9k views is a crime. Keep having your passion man, I appreciate and it shows how invested you are into understanding and sharing as you learn. Data-driven discovery, ingenuity, learning together, this is what UA-cam should be.
    Best of luck.

      Thank you. UA-cam is funny, sometimes you think you've made a good video, you post it and it gets no views. Other times it feels like a video is thrown together and it gets tons of views. As long as I know there are people enjoying the content, I'll keep making it!

      @@SmitHVAC. Solar pergolas and fences to me are genius and a no-brainer product for consumers. They're not though. I can't tell you why not, you can make a very high end looking product with bifacials and painted aluminum bracing as fencing. I see your thumbnail and I'm like "A-hah! A guy who gets it!"
      We're ahead of our time or two crackpots howling at the moon. I'm not sure which yet.

    Panels look nice and will be interested in seeing the low light performance. Gary in SE Michigan (10km from Windsor)

    I’m going to do something like this with 6 450w biracial panels and enphase micro inverters.

      You two should do a collaboration video. I actually got a EG4 24K BTU because of the two of you! We just installed it two weeks ago and the 7 Boviet 450 watt bifacial panels with SnapNRack Topspeed mounts over the weekend! Today we turned OFF the 240v power and it ran ice cold all day long and maxed out at over 2400 watts! We have enjoyed the mini split and have been using it to cool out entire house 🏡 without our Central HVAC A/C in 95 degrees+ temperatures! Incredible. The family loves the new unit. We are looking to get 2 or 3 of the 12Ks in the future. We will see. Right now we have 18 solar panels on our roof and 5 on our off grid solar shed.
      God bless you two.

      @@SmitHVAC. It really is! No complaints. Thanks again for all of your videos. I have learned a lot. My grandparents were from Etobicoke area near Toronto. We used to go to Toronto quite a few times in the early 90's. I remember going to two Bluejays games as well. Excellent memories! God bless 🙏😀

    Nice panels I still buy the used ones I seen some 380 watt panels for $100 each. Can't wait to see these new ones in Production.

    You need some cross bracing on the grill side to keep the whole thing from racking in a heavy side wind and slamming flat.

    You might want to consider a different panel clamp. The style that pulls down the top of the panel versus hooking to the bottom can cause the vinyl to separate over time from the panels.

    • @SmitHVAC.
      @SmitHVAC.  2 місяці тому

      Thanks, do you have a link to that style of clamp?

      I'm interested in this as well... I would like to secure my panels from underneath and not from on top... I would also like to be able to close the gaps. Please share a link or a photo if you have one please!

    I've always wanted to put a pergola in my back patio and put solar on top of it. I have solar all over the back yard as of now. 2 questions for you. Do you live in a HOA neighborhood and did you get permission ? do you need some kind of permits(like from the county) to have solar on the pergola ?

    • @SmitHVAC.
      @SmitHVAC.  2 місяці тому

      I don't live in a HOA but the city does have a bylaw that requires a permit for solar panels attached to a building, that's the main reason they are in my pergola instead of my house. Go for it!

  • @propaneriver
    @propaneriver Місяць тому

    What's the shading tolerance of those panels in series on the pergola like, can they work with one totally blocked out of the sun, since most half cells solar panels connections are in the middle and have multiple paths, example the voltage may just go in a straight line through to the other side past the shadowed one?

  • @martinsteflik1329

    These solar panels are rated 13.8A maximum PV amperage (ISC) but your EG4 mini splits are only rated for 12A. Are you going to chance it?

  • @josephmiller6866
    @josephmiller6866 2 місяці тому +1

    Why not use the ones you took off to plug straight into the eg4. Yea would have to build something for it but that way eg4 would have the solar connection into heat pump and also from 6k egr Inverter
