Best method ive used so far is that I add an extra piece of rubber to the sole before applying your new outsole then stitched with a landis outsole or by hand. Then you mix your glue with a hardener agent to increase its strength by 10x. Bond your outsole to the boot and stitch again or if the welt cant take it, use quench nails. For someone not wearing their boots everyday this method does work

I agree nice work and craftmanship. How much does that type of work cost. Been papermill mechanic for over 10 years, just doesn't make since to spend over a $100 on sole replacing, with another $100 or 2,get a brand new pair.

Give the guy a break ! those boots aren't of the stitched welt design, they are direct moulded soles, if you stitched these(or tried to) you would ruin them.
These are repaired by glue & some of this type cannot be repaired at all if the soles are made from PU as PU soles crumble & you can't stick to that.

I was stupid enough to ry and get my original sole stitched , as in my country it is not easy to get good soles for timberland boots and made a stupid try and regret it after seeimg this video , The boot was in a much better ondition than this one .

This is actually a goodyear welt but it is a process developed by Red Wing® Boot Company. The welt is a thermoplastic type that is sewn on just as is a regular goodyear welt. At the factory Red Wing® locks the boot into a mold where the PU outsole is chemically joined to the thermoplastic welt. The problem for repair shops with using a nylon midsole and then stitching prior to sole bonding it is very often the width of the welt varies from wide enough to barely enough width to stitch to. At our shop I've mated a glued and sewn-on midsole when I can. It provides for a more reliable long-term bond under the toughest conditions. It is not always possible when the width of the welt is just not enough however. I've also had success with the method shown here.

John Werner i used to.have a pair of top of the line Timberlands brown leather Gore-Tex and midsole crumbled and put them to a repair shop to get Vibram and the guy said he couldn't even do it so I had to dump them out and it went excellent condition as in the souls I ended up buying a pair of Bates icws and I've had them ever since and I still good and yet they're the same kind of design is my Timberlands but they're made to military specifications cuz they were originally issued two marines and army personnel mine would not used they still have the tags on them when I purchase them I did try to purchase a pair of Timberland pro work boots but they got messed up and I'm not talking to souls it with me like a rock fot contract work I got a pair of Wolverine Harrison's is steel toe and it took me a year to break a Min but they're comfortable anything and it take a licking I want to replace the outer soles with Vibram which are more durable and wear slower

I replaced a crumbed Timberland Pro Pit Boss sole with Cristy sole for working on roofs and started having separations a month or two after the resole. I used the same Masters cement you’re using in the video. Is there an ideal wait time before joining? I have a pair of earthkeepers that will need the same treatment in a few months.

Very nice work you are a true professional. I have paid of polo boots (hiking type) with aggressive soles they have been stored for a few years and when I started wearing them the soles started separating at the back. What glue do you recommend for repair. They are 200$ boots in new condition and I hope to wear them for years. Thanks Mike J.....

Michael Jones Thanks Mike for the positive comment, and I recommend trying out the (Original Barge Cement) or (Master Cement). It’s a special glue that you can use on any kinds of materials and it works magnificent. Once your soles are glued together I suggest using Shoe Goo all around the edge of the sole to prevent any water going in between and causes your soles to separate again. There is different types of glues out there but I think the once I mentioned will defined help out. I will actually try to make a video on how to glue any type of soles/ what kinds of glues I use and what you can use at home. So you will see that coming soon, and I hope this kind of helped out. Thanks once again and have a blessed weekend cheers. Thanks SHOE SHOP!

Need advice. I had my boots repaired at a shop, he placed new shoes soles on both boots. He charged 125 dollars which I thought was steep but I did it anyway. On the first wear outing of having them the front nose of the sole peeled off leaving a flap. And I noticed by the next day that other parts were beginning to peel as well. I took them back, he repaired them again for free. I picked them up a couple days later. However when I got home I noticed that the glue or what he used is still peeling off in the back slightly of the sole. I can only imagine that in a couple weeks it will come undone. At this point id like a refund but how does that work when it comes to show repair. And how do I go about it. Need advice.

You can't get this service in Australia. I've used sikaflex construction adhesive sealant to fix my boots in the past. Because it's polyurethane formula especially in 11FC .( fast curing. ) it goes off like tyre rubber. I just glued up my $200 boots yesterday afternoon with Seal and flex polyurethane sealant. I hope it holds up like Sikaflex? The leather is still great. Most comfortable steel cap boots ever. Cheers

My Vibram soles are getting worn at exactly one spot, the outer side of both heels. The first layer is worn out and a softer layer underneath is exposed. Can I do anything to repair that? If not, how long do you think I have before the sole falls apart? It's a Lowa Renegade that I've had for 4 years and it feels like they should last longer than that.

I’ve been getting the same work boots resoled since 2002. They’re great boots and they fit like you wouldn’t believe. Anyhow I always commented to my shoe guy about how great his work is and that it’s old world craftsmanship and the stitching looks good and this and that. Come to find out, after seeing this video, all he’s doing is gluing on the sole. It’s still good work but I thought he was doing more than that for what he’s charging me. Next time I’m throwing the boots at him.

I can buy replacements soles for around £28 but what glue do i buy?

I have a pair of ladies trendy clod hoppers. They has a very high platform sole and it has completely fallen off from one shoe. The thick sole makes it a functional shoe for me because my mobile home floor is freezing in winter. These are high enough to keep my feet off the floor and warm. The upper is man-made faux leather. The sole has a honeycomb shape grid design on the inside where it attaches to the boot. This design was necessary to make it light and give it flexibility and sustainability to hold onto the upper. They served me well for many years. So far I have found it impossible to find a new pair of shoes with a similar thick sole. Do you know what I could do to reattach that sole?

Just had the exact same thing done to my 2412's. Picked them up yesterday. Those "comfort soles" that come on the boots are garbage. Wore out in about a year. I'm hoping I will get more life out of the Vibram soles. They were on a pair of loggers I had that lasted about 4 1/2 years. And even those, the leather was shot (because I didn't maintain them at all. Didn't oil them once, and put them through everything including wet concrete...) but the soles still hadlife in them when I tossed the boots.

Dear friends and shoe shop! I hope you are well. 💪💪💪Anyone know the best glue cement for fixing the coming away below the rand of my Lowa elite desert boots. Both my pairs have came away at the front. Tried gorilla glue both brown and white and they won’t hold. Prepared the area as much as possible by cleaning and roughing up then applying etc. They come away again in a week. Even used my staple gun to get a good fix. I know the pros use boot clamps both inside and out. But I don’t have them. This time I will use the best you advise me then prepare the area, rough it up and use heat and pressure.
I have a lot of friends in the military that need there boots doing and I am thinking of getting in to it as you just can’t find the cobbler these days in the UK.
    Any ideas please Shoe Shop???
    Peace. ✌️🙏✌️

This is called a “block repair” red wing at the factory level will pour the sole as a liquid in the mold directly solidifying to the boot and pressing it.
If the base is worn and can’t withstand the pressure of the press red wing will deem it not repairable as they do not stop mass production to do a block repair. So gluing a solid sole (red wing or vibram) is the only other way. Hope this helps.

Barge All Purpose Cement - Used for decades by shoe repairmen - Yellow can with red label. Newer blue can does not last - You can find it on Amazon.

Is the Master All Purpose Cement the only adhesive you used? If so, that is freaking awesome glue!
