Want to get to Braganca some day. A lot of my ancestors lived there 400 years ago - and it was a center of Sephardic Jewish life both before and after the inquisition. Totally unrelated: I guess Leo is not a restaurant dog or a campervan dog. ;-)

That entrance into the little town, the walk through it was like walking into a fantasy book, Portugal as so much to offer outside the touristic circuit, its unreal, usually people are so nice, they invite you into their houses, the restaurants at first look like, I'm not sure!!!??? then you go in and is very cosy, food is amazing and even to much, and you pay next to nothing.

Hi guys!! I would stop by Vila Nova de Cerveira (Minho River) and follow the river to the west toward the town of Caminha, where I believe there is a fabulous fluvial [river] beach ... If I recall correctly. And why not go to Vigo, in Spain (Galicia), since you'll be quite close to the border? You will notice that Portuguese is very well understood there as the Galician is very, very close to the Portuguese language, almost the same.

I know nothing about it but would be interested to know about: costs related to the rental, license requirements, insurance, finding camp sites, emptying and refilling reservoirs, difficulties with overpasses or bridges, etc. If you don't mind sharing, of course. Love your new RV road trip series. I grew up in northern Portugal and one recommendation I'd give is to find what the local culinary specialties are in each area. Food is northern Portugal is outstanding and super cheap.
