I dressed up as a Pay-triot for holloween today. I wore a cognitive dissonance special tshirt with a punisher blue line logo on the front and a snek don't tread logo on the back. Carried tacticool coffee in one hand, and a pen ready to write representatives in the other. Wore a cash Hyder holster with 200 dollars in ready to pay tax stamp.

The second amendment is not and has never been about "sporting purposes"!!!!
This stopped being about the 2nd amendment long ago, but people just let it slide because they’re selfish and naive.
Sadly the NRA stopped opposing the 1968 Gun Control Act, the very law we are suffering under now, when proposals for a national gun registry were dropped. Stating, "the measure as a whole appears to be one that the sportsmen of America can live with".

At all! I don't think that the 2nd applies to any singular type of firearm. Period. BUT, if you had to make the case for it applying to one platform, the only thing it could possibly be is the AR-15 platform.
The 2nd specifically states the reason for it being in existence is to allow the citizens to be armed well enough to protect themselves from an out of control government that is not for the people anymore. When it was written, muskets were the primary firearm of the British forces. But it doesn't say in the 2nd, "muskets only," it says, "firearms" and because of that, many Americans were already starting to switch to rifles. A more advanced weapon system than the military of the time fielded which was a key part of us winning the war.
That same mindset would apply today. The primary fighting rifle for all 4 branches of the government has for the last 50 years been an AR platform of some kind. Therefore, the 2nd is saying that the people should have access to the SAME kind of weapon systems.
So again, it doesn't apply to 1 system, but if you HAD to make the case, the only thing it could possibly apply to is the AR-15. That's why i don't understand this debate about "do you really need it." Yes, per the constitution, yes, we need to be able to field a comparable weapon system.

The FFL who was denied should team with GOA and file suit citing NYSRPA v Bruen. I'm pretty sure "sporting uses" were not a requirement for obtaining arms/ammo in 1791.

Arguing about what is or isn't a "sporting purpose" is a red herring. The 2nd Amendment's purpose is to safeguard our right to personal, civil, and national defense, including defense against government tyranny. Edit: In short, the sporting purposes laws are null and void on their face when held to the standard set forth by the US Supreme Court in NYSRPA v Bruen.

Being old has advantages. I remember when GCA68 took effect, immediately many small handgun were banned from import. Solution was make the parts and export to the United States where they were assembled into the finished product. Maybe the ATF forgot.

Thank you for the update. It’s a large issue. All infringements are large issues. They are doing everything they can to create a registry so they can get rid of firearms.
I'm a gun owner, proud gun owner in fact. However, this question I'm about to ask isn't going to fly well here. I expect dislikes instead of conversation but I hope for the latter so here goes: If banning guns could eliminate 100% of the shooting deaths in our country, would a ban be worth it? I personally don't know the answer to the question. I'm not intelligent enough to even comprehend all the facets. However, it IS currently happening right now, in Japan. Last year Japan had ZERO deaths by handguns (the year before that I think they had 1, a suicide). That's in a country with 200 million people. It's not like all guns are banned in Japan either, rifles are allowed (they're similar to canada) but in order to own a gun, you need to take a drug test once a year, and have a psych test every 2 years as well as interview with the police in your town. So I ask again, with our rising shooting deaths, would it be worth it to get our deaths down to zero?

From an HK interview, they're trying to move production of some stuff to the states. However most push back doesn't even come from the U.S. govt. It's from the German government since they have huge amounts of red tape

Three gun is a sport. These guns and many like it are used in three gun. Shooting is sport. So therefore they are used in sporting purpose. The industry need to challenge this.

They refused to simply overturn Californias “assault weapon ban and instead sent it back to them. Where California courts sent it down to Benedes hoping to delay overturning the law. All SCOTUS has to do is Say the 2nd is sacrosanct. All laws and taxes on arms is unconstitutional and gone. Period and done but they won’t cause they are gelded and gutless.

Hk and b&t have the same quality between each other and both have the same price points for their products. If both where based in the us and had larger companies their products would be cheaper. A lot of people say their not worth x. When in reality out side of the us they are. Cheap quality ars don’t exist outside of the us. Because once their exported their prices are on par with hk and b&t.
Some of it is just the price of manufacturing in Germany. Labor and materials are more expensive there so that cost adds up.
I won't say that the price is worth it but that really shouldn't stop people from buying them if they want to.
It is not about the qualities or prices of the guns. It is about infringing the 2A Amendment. It is about freedom.

So I work for an importer that works very closely with HK Germany. HK Germany does not produce any of the MR series rifles as pistols, and they are all considered rifles by HK Germany. The way people have been getting around this is having their brokers in Germany take the stocks of the guns and call them "pistols" on their Form 6s, while importing the stocks on a separate Form 6.
Yes it sucks, but even we wouldn't touch these because it is such a grey area.

Some of the SCOTUS rulings are great, but at states' levels, many states still do what they feel like. More importantly, ATF behaves as if there is no 2nd Amendment, no Constitution, no law.
They can ban anything, confiscate anything, and nobody can do anything about it, especially recently.

Hell, I am a part of that growth! If you had asked me about "reasonable restrictions on assault weapons" twelve years ago, I would have agreed with such laws. Now I believe citizens should be able to own tomahawk missles, tanks, and fighter jets without permits or background checks.

The MR556/MR762 are mostly finished in the US from German blanks. Daniel Defense finishes the barrels/receivers. The internals (BCG, and lower parts kit) are made in Germany.

The BT-15/Heanel cr223 essentially a updated version of the 416 was effected as well and not very many actually made it to the US market. I would buy these while you can if you can find one.

A 16.5" HK MR556 A1 retail price was about $3,000 last summer at a local gun shop in Arizona, a very similar price point to a comparable Sig MCX rifle in .223.

Doesn’t this have more to do with the “once a rifle, always a rifle” premise? They are saying HK doesn’t make those as pistols (HK says they’re rifles) and therefore they can’t ‘become’ pistols in their eyes.

What bothers me is that it doesn't matter what kind of gun it is.
Guns do not just stand up and start to randomly kill by them selves.
It is a person who has to pull the trigger.
It does not matter what kind of gun someone uses,
if it is used illegally to kill someone they are just as dead if shot

The biggest lesson learned. Don’t trade your import to a FFL for the newest American hottest fIrearm (AR or etc..) on the market. Unless you trade it in for another import gun.

The problem is that we are law abiding citizens. So they are going to keep disrespecting us because they know we are not going to do shit about it. We don’t want to mess up our livelihood. The ATF have more respect for criminals, that’s why they are not focus on them.
