What an awsome find! They sure did make things GOOD back then. That knife-spoon-fork set will outlast most of us. Outdoor greeting from the Netherlands 🤠 🇳🇱 🏕️
I have been collecting knives and specifically Boy Scout items for several years now. The chow kit you are showing is BSA # 1384 and I believe was sold from 1932 to 1953. In 1954 thru 1974, the kit was BSA #1391 and had Imperial knife, fork and spoon and had a vinyl case as you mentioned. After 1974, the kits had interlocking knife, fork and spoon in a vertical vinyl case. I started collecting Boy Scout items 30 years ago when a friend gave me her father's Scoutmaster handbook from the 1920s. I have 100s of books and several display cases full of Cub & Boy Scout memorabilia.
The queen looks awesome. Great job! Love the old scout stuff. Takes me back. The knives make for great carry’s. Awesome little kit and it’s in great shape. Those look like reading glass slips. I have several, as I go,through the glasses so much, lol. I find them common finds at Salvation Army thrift stores. Have a great day, brother!
Queen City turned out perfect! Man your collection just keeps on hitting home! Grandpa was a sawmill man and had that old 4- line scriber. My cousin has it now and I just can’t talk him out of it. He refuses all offers and I don’t blame him!
I have an old Imperial folding scout KFS. Not of the highest merit, with plastic scales. Also got a vintage Joseph Rogers pruner, again plastic scales.
I’ll check him out, thanks. I had that exact same BS utensils kit, wish I still had it! I wish I had my grandfathers scout books, have to see if my sisters got it, he was one of the first boy scouts!
Oh I love that old jack knife brother.very nice. You can't beat a good old boy scout of Cub scout knife. I collect them as well when I can get hold of some reasonably priced ones. That old scout fork knife & spoon that is a blessing to find. Very nice.
Thanks for sharing. You bet. My take when buying old knives- if can’t get it for 50% less than I could sell it for. I pass. Unless it’s really really special.
A Lady at Ellaville grabbed one of those kits, right next to me. She didn’t know what it was and was looking it over. The vendor was telling her what it was. Then he dropped the price of $30 and she bought it ! 😊
Depends on the Knife & Steel and the environment. I have run across many an old hunting knife left in sheath for long spells. Pitted pretty heaviy. Stainless steel and aluminum bolster knives like Buck 119, 103’s etc can be stored. Old Carbon are ones prone to. If kept in super dry environment for years they’ll likely fair well. Leather will pick up Humid moisture and that’s what ya don’t want. Thanks for sharing

@@CuttingEdgetools ok that makes more sense to me i live out west in eastern washington so excess moisture is never really a problem
@@CuttingEdgetools also funny i just picked up the same mess kit at a yard sale for ten bucks myself this summer
@ sweet. Pretty cool Kit. Amazing quality back in those days for a scout piece. Thanks for sharing
