A Great restoration on the Guy lorry truck Martin, yellow makes it really pop 👍very nice decaling job too, another Dinky made new, try to keep warm ole friend see ya on your next restoration, take care. 👋😎🚗🛻🚙🚜🚚🚕
That's an absolutely stunning restoration, the radiator grille detailing is brilliant. Did we see you put a spot of oil on the rivet post before you drilled it out? Another very enjoyable video Martin, all the best. Peter.
Hi Martin! As soon as I saw this on the turntable up front, I knew it would be a striking difference at the end. I like the treatment you gave it. Smart looking Lorry now. Carry on, my friend! ☕🍁👊
Nice work Martin. That bit you found loose inside I think fits over the dome on the box base between the box base and the chassis and the screw goes through it.
Hi mate great job on the Weetabix lorry great colour really pops with the yellow and I love the fine detail. Working in cold weather isn't much fun I remember driving to work to my brothers crash repairs in winter on a freezing day hopping he had a respray on that day. He had this big kerosene heater it looked like one of the engines off of the space shuttle🚀 he was a bit stingy and only put it on when he had a respray in that day. Yes I remember trying to undo nuts and bolts in the freezing cold my fingers could barely move and it really hurt if you banged your hand if the spanner slipped off. One day in summer an RAAF pilot was transferred from interstate and drove an RAAF van with his furniture in it all the way from Queensland to Adelaide. On the way over someone ran up the back of the van and when he arrived at the Edinburgh Air base here in SA they told him to take it to my brothers crash repairs because we weren't to far away from the base so he dropped it off. My brother was having a job getting the bumper off because it was all bent up. He was feeling around underneath trying to find the bolts when he felt something run across his hand. He finally undone the last bolt and grabbed a small bottle of paint thinners that he had for squirting thinners through his spray gun and then he dropped the bumper on the ground and this big deadly black funnel web spider came running out so he squirted it with thinners and it killed it instantly. Scary to thing it had run over his hand.😬🕷Catch you on the next one mate.👍🏻
Blimey deadly spiders, he was lucky. Yes working out in the cold is rubbish I remember many moons ago working on the roads we were working on a new extension road and had to only work at night due to the volume of traffic during the day ,stood out in the rain freezing cold working the old fashioned Jack hammer at 2 in the morning saying to myself what the f...k ami doing here but remembered the good money we were on at the time . All the best Martin
That turned out wonderful, Martin!😁 Everready was my first choice, but Weetabix or Golden Shred is great, too! Very nice, and you have a great day too, cheers!❤👍🚚
You obviously had your Weetabix for this one Martin 😂 Great job as always top marks for the detailing I like the Guy badge on the radiator. All the best to you.. cheers Chris 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎯🏆🇦🇺🇦🇺
Awesome job once again Martin. Fantastic detailing. You should treat yourself to a right angle screw driver. The £ shops should have them. Essentially a straight bar with a right angle at each end with a flat and Phillips at each end.
Martin, back in the early 1970s, when I first started collecting old diecasts, the guy Weetabix lorry was the most sort after of the six variants, with Ever ready and Slumberland being the most common, I can recall buying my mint boxed Weetabix around 1972 for around the princely sum of £25.00 at an Ally Pally collectors fair back in those days very few collectors did any restoring, that started around 1975/6,when air brushes became popular
Thanks very much, my friend, it's surprising that certain vehicles command lots of money were others equally as nice don't fetch half as much ,you must have a large collection after all this time excellent. All the best Martin
NIce job on the Guy ,the dished washer goes between the body and chassis if that helps ,it is to stop over tightening the bolt ,I Have done all six, allthe best graham
No I don't seal them my friend thay go in the display case and apart from Changing them round now and again thay don't get handled. All the best Martin
Another 10/10 resto Martin I do like the 2 tone paint schemes but this yellow wow, excellent detailing on the cab to by the way,... I found myself holding my breath while you did the decal (ha ha) I do have one question regarding the base plate holding tonques,... when you dismantled the truck base plate the tonques are facing the back of the chassis over the 2 holes of the same shape but when you replaced the base plate and pushed the tonques through the slots you folded the tonques towards the front of the chassis is that done to give the base plate a firmer grip on the chassis?,.. ok then just curious looking forward to the next one,... all the best mate👍👍
Thanks Gregory yes doing the tounges that way does help with holding the base plate ,but it's a personal choice. The decals were a bit thin, which is OK because you don't get the big step up like some thicker decals give. But you have to be extra careful. All the best Martin
Thanks very much my friend yes I have a propane heater witch keeps the shed warm but only tend to use it when iam painting because over here replacement gas is like everything else dam expensive. All the best Martin
Cheers mate that sounds interesting I will have to look into that ,my heater is a propane one at the moment it keeps the shed warm but unfortunately the replacement gas is expensive over here so I only use it when iam priming and painting. All the best Martin
@@martindaredare wow that ridiculous price. Over here people make an adaptor so they can fill their bottles with LPG for cars. 9kg bottle hold 13 litres of gas. About $14 to fill, if they don't catch U.
Hi John, if the decal needs to conform to any ridges or curved areas, I use micro sol . But if not ,when the decal is dry I clear coat it with acrylic laquar from halfords or hycote any acrylic laquar. The super glue accelerator was one that came with the glue ,but you can buy it in most DIY shops ,in a rattle can . I hope this helps and all the best Martin
lovely restoration Martin, very nicely done that yellow livery really pops your right about the prices rising on these I've noticed it too 👍👍👍
