I've never seen this interview...it's great to hear Barry Windham talk like a regular person. I always liked him especially as part of t he 4 Horsemen. 🐎
There were several mainstream media interviews with NWA Wrestlers that week. This was The Weekend of The 1987 Jim Crockett, Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland won by The Super Powers: The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and The Russian Nightmare NWA United States Champion Nikita Koloff.
This is a great interview! I get what Barry is saying about the gimmick nature of the WWF at the time. However, the WWF had hard core stuff back then too. No, they didn't have Abdullah the Butcher. However, they had classic steel cage matches like Orndorff vs. Hogan on Saturday Nights Main Event, and Hogan vs. Bundy at WrestleMania 2. They had lumberjack matches. I remember Randy Savage driving a ring bell into Ricky Steamboat's throat. Speaking of Barry Windham, two years before this interview he had a cigar rubbed in his eye by Brutus Beefcake. These matches and storylines were pretty intense.
You mean those Cages with The Thick Blue Bars The WWF used to have? Try looking at The Bootcamp Match Sgt. Slaughter did with Pat Patterson in Madison Square Garden when Vincent J. McMahoh owned the Company and Vincent Kennedy McMahon was a Plasy by Play Announcer.
He knew those Guys as Good Professional Wrestlers in other Professional Wrestling Promotions before they started carrying Animals with them to the ring.
You should do a video on Jim Ross' wife tragic death. It was very strange circumstances on how she died and there really isn't much content on it. Ross never has been the same since. I always felt something sinister was behind her passing.
And actually the Great Muta was his and Ric Flair beat Barry at Beach Blast 93. That was Barry's best run ever as NWA World's Heavyweight Champion! I wish that his run would've lasted longer.
Barry is smart he knows fans know it's a show but it's like a movie you have good guys & bad guys and anybody who has wrestled in high school , college or now MMA ,boxing you know it still takes skill talent and most could hurt or kill the average guy or female but Barry plays his part but won't be a prick and attack if they say fake plus his dad may kick his ass his dad was a true big man

Isn't there a rare non kayfabe interview with Bruiser Brody from the 80's out there somewhere?
Would you consider him a heavyweight?
Yes. 100%.
at 6'5 275lb i'd say yes especially during the time he was prominent
