I TORE MY PATELLA TENDON 8/19/22 AND TODAY 2/28/24 I AM BACK FUNCTIONING NORMAL IM AT ABOUT 85% STILL A LITTLE SWELLING ON MY KNEE BUT IM BLESSED TO BE DOING BETTER THAN I WAS THIS TIME LAST YEAR. WHAT A TOUGH ROAD.
Well done bro🎉
Im 19 years old 1,5 years ago I had a direct blow in my knee . Due to the bad decision of my doctor like I had only an x-ray and no mri He misdiagnosed . Actually my patellar tendon almost tear And I had to have surgery but i didn't . The MRI I did 8 months later says that my tendon is okay but even now I can't walk for a long distance, i can't go up and down the stairs without pain I can't even straighten my leg when im sitting. ? Is there a chance that I can get my strength in my tendon? Now its too late for surgery, maybe a tendon graft its good idea?
I’ve gone to pt for evaluation in the past and was told seemed to be kneecap wasn’t tracking properly. But after a few months I’ve just now realized a small dent below knee cap but when I flex it goes away. Would I notice if it was torn after all that time?
Very informative, thank you so much..
Hope for a speedy recovery for your patient. Sucks that he is going through that again
He is 16 weeks out now and starting back with basketball slowly and doing great!
@@OrthoEvalPal That's great to hear Doc!

I also wanted to mention I can’t do a straight leg raise which has been hell trying to get out of bed.

Wow, this exact same thing happened to me doc, more than 10yrs ago, my patella hasn't returned to its original position, any advice doc?
Definitely would recommend you see an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation and recommendation
Same thing happened to me when I was 15 playing basketball. Kneecap ended up in my thigh and a chunk of my shin pulled out. 20 years later I still have a very large lump under my kneecap where the patella tendon was reattached to shin. Is this lump removable?
I'm not sure the lump is removable, I have same situation from my surgery as well when rupture my petalla, going on a year now
Shyyttttt. this is what i have rn. Im hoping it will heal by itsself but its been weeks. :( when he mentioned the knee cap moving up mine does not. i can lift my leg from a sitting position. I hope it does not lead to surgery.
I had knee replacement surgery last June. I can't do a straight leg lift either. First, the therapist told me my quad muscles had to strengthen and just yesterday the orthopedic doctor did X-ray and told me I had a patella tear. I am 67 and I am not having surgery. I am walking but using a cane . I thought I was the only one that had experienced this!
Did his leg fold when he tried to walk,? I tore my patellar in 2017 and when i tried to Walk my leg folded like one of those folding tables.
Yup!
just happened to me, im 31+ shit sucks man. I NEED surgery, no other way around it doc said.
I’m 29, had my surgery 9 days ago. You’ll be fine man :) already starting to bend it again but only like 40 degrees atm
Just had my surgery 4 days ago and I’m 32. Had ACL surgery on this need 12yrs ago. I’m hoping it can get back to feeling normal like it was before i tore my patella
Yeah I'm 30 had surgery last week. It's just mentally bad not physically bad
@@MrHenry756wow! How did you get the green light to be able to bend it again so soon? Shouldn’t they have put you in a splint ?
@@Eddie-sg2cx i dont know mate, after my op they gave me a brace and said i could straight away weight bear and bend from 0-30 degrees. They said i could increase the bend 10 degrees every week. Its been two months since my op now and it has vastly improved. I cant run or anything yet but its feeling semi normal and is getting better everyday :)

How foolish if you had a surgery and he was playing basketball he's going to have another knee surgery good luck down the road as he gets older arthritis is going to be his enemy
It can han happen anytime I just had the same off stepping on a pair of scales
