I have that EXACT bench grinder! I got it from my father who passed away when I was 8. I’m now 43. I still use it weekly. It’s a great one.

I also inherited this from my Father. I agree, they last forever. I see them on ebay and You Tube all the time.

The tool rest is a big improvement, nice big working area. Waiting for your review on the CBN grinding wheel. Cheers Tony

Sir, I like your style! On another note, I watched the video were you fixed some of the collets where the grooves weren't deep enough. You used an endmill bit to mill away the sides of the registration insert, so I was wondering why you decided to mill the plate sides with the tip of the bit (the part where you talk about vibration) rather than laying the plate flat into the vice.
Was the vice to small? 🙂

Thanks for the comment. The vise was big enough. When I Tried laying it flat, the back of the vise stopped against the column before I would have been able to make the entire pass. I thought about moving the rear vise jaw to the back of the vise. That would have worked, but since I was working with a thin plate and not really taking much material off, I decided to try it with a backer against the plate instead.
