I feel like investing into being a Black Cab Driver is only worth it if you are in it for the long run. I dont think its a very scalable business. Also i dont know if i would like the idea of having random people in my vehicle all day 😂
I struggle to make London work. If I bid on time, then I'm too expensive, if I bid on distance, then it's not worth it. Can I ask what you think a reasonable rate is for a driver to bid on the CX for a job, for example as you have said, HA0 to WC2B. Lets assume it's an immediate (midday ish) collection on a normal weekday and it's a small van job. Google maps tells me that it is 14 miles, will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes and goes into the congestion zone. There's nowhere to stop in central London, so I assume I'll have to drive out of the centre, empty.
I got quotes ranging from £35-£100 for that job. I subbed it out for £55 as i dont just pick the cheapest quote. I pick based on feedback. There is defo some spots in Central London that you can park up at and look for jobs. I think Central London has quite a few jobs a day bringing you back out to the suburbs.
@@EddysLogistics Thanks. Any advice on where to perch in Central London would really be appreciated! I always drive out empty - generally to Tesco on Old Kent Road or out towards Brent Cross. It would be a game changer if there is somewhere in Central London I can perch! £55 is £40 after London CC. That's quite low IMO for that job. Not a criticism of you - you take the prices you can get, but I don't know how drivers make that work.
I avoid quoting on jobs that say ‘Plain Van’. And if the customer does ask i let them know that i am working on behalf of the courier company that gave me the job as i help them out when they are super busy. Never had a problem. Never ever will i poach anyone!
Cool jobs, Only wish I had work.. Had lots of various jobs around London E-couriers I was doing 70 hours a week burned out.. But the last 8 years I struggle for work. I cant afford Courier Exchange don't like the idea of paying out in advance and most likely get nothing in return and ending up in huge debt. Basically I put adverts on market place have my own website and bid on jobs for Shiply last two years has been a struggle with health but at least the van is paid off. Well getting old now so perhaps when I was 40 I should have worked hard..
Clean van and professional approach to the client = More jobs and possible tips.
Nice one you nailed it here
Thanks! 👍
