Hey what is your top three LEGO sets
I can appreciate how you keep your reviews brief, yet somehow more informative than most other reviewers.
I prefer longer and more in depth ones but I agree with you, he is very informative
This set looks awesome, it’s tempting me to dive into the world of LEGO Modulars! 😁 Have a great Christmas Tiago!
Beware, it's impossible to stop once you start
@@TiagoCatarino Yup, you can say that again! I now have 5...
@@FiontarFloinn this will be #7 for me :(
haha
Slippery. Slope. You’ve been warned :)
@@TiagoCatarinoI’d have bought all of them after getting my first but went broke just getting the police station… 😢
I like the usage of the Pythagorean Theorem for the door area (see 1:10). The entrance is square-shaped with a width of 7 studs which is set into a gap of 10 studs at a 45° angle. This fits so nicely, because the diagonal of the square is sqrt(7²+7²)=sqrt(98) which is only slightly smaller than 10.
Thanks for highlighting the maths behind that! I have played around with pythagorean numbers in lego to build diagonal walls before akin to the boutique hotel, but never thought about if from the perspective of brakeing a straight wall with a diagonal element like this.
Lego math
As a jazz musician, I'm so temped to get this. This would look great along with the Lego Ideas Jazz Quartet on display!
I love the look of this set. It's insane how much detail they packed into it. Seeing all the modulars together is really neat too. Thank you for that!
Loved the way you took us through the build. I accurately think I want 2 sets to make a bigger club and get 2 separate buildings.
Here to provide! Thanks
While overall I do like it, I do have a few issues with it. First and foremost, for a Jazz Club it could have looked a bit grittier, more "mature". Less windows, more intimate (and where's the bar?). Also, while a printed sign is infinitely better than stickers, these modulars do have a nice tradition of brick built sign, which I would have much preferred. And missed opportunity: It would have been fun if this would have included the Jazz Quartet but now in minifig form 🙂
This is a great set, I don’t think it’s as good as the Boutique Hotel, but it’s still a great edition with some great callbacks to both the Fire Station and Palace Cinema. 😊
You know, you having the set up of the bookshop to the left and boutique hotel to the right really work well.
You're right. That set up and the depth and color combinations make it a nice display.
Thanks for another great review. Really helps in buying decisions. Many thx Tiago.
As a upright jazz bassist who loves Lego - this set is everything to me
Loved it instantly. Can't wait to get it. Bold, beautiful and classy 👌
I fell in love in these modular buildings, going to chase Brick Bank from second hand, so far we have Police station, Book store, Boutique Hotel and Assembly Square, these buildings are such a joy to watch or play with when you add street plates
Great Review Taigo! I think at 1:55 the awning on the left has its tiles misplaced though😅.
Happy New Year! 🥳🎉 I’m gonna be honest this is probably my favorite Lego set currently following the Lego Titanic that I just currently built. Thanks for bringing this type of content to the Lego community!😃
Ooh, it's gorgeous. Don't think I prefer it to the Hotel, but I love the New York nighttime vibes it carries. Thanks for the wonderfully articulate review, Tiago! You never disappoint.
Finally a valuable review of the upcoming modular building. I think, it offers more than it seemed to offer at first. Many were disappointed, but like you said … it’ll be hard for any modular after the unique Boutique Hotel.
However, I’m missing the magic show which is advertised at the entrance. Thanks for the great review!
the interior is amazing, but for me it just feels like way to many colors, all going on at once, and it just looks a little messy imo
Excellent review. I was looking forward to this video ever since LEGO announced this set.
I'd like to get this set. Great review and I also like how you showed it with other buildings too.
great video i like the short lengths of your videos
Amazing review as always! You are now my go to channel for reviews!
Welcome aboard!
I must admit i’m a bit torn on if I get it or not, but seeing it next to the bookstore’s townhouse gives me a good idea of what it would look like in the spot I’d reserved for it along my skyline. But I don’t think this one is as necessary as I thought, and perhaps the plan to make two more town houses instead would be better. Thank you for the review as always, Tiago.
Very Nice review Tiago! I always enjoy your videos!
I appreciate that!
Great video.. I have an issue with this set however... all the best jazz clubs are in cellar bars below ground...
At first i wasn’t a big fan, but now the Jazz Club is slowing growing on me. Looks fun inside!
Love the content as always
Appreciate it!
I'm a little bit bummed that this is not two separate buildings on separate base plates, but it does look great combined with the Boutique Hotel. I think that's going to be the perfect setup
This set has a lot of cool details. Great review
Love the jazz club and the dark bricks. Jazz clubs back in the day, were dark brick buildings, but not feeling the pizza Modular next to the club. Doesn’t fit in. However, I will add to collection.
Did not know that, thanks!
Thanks for the typically great review. Your eye for detail really helps whet my appetite.
My pleasure!
I’m starting a modular collection this Christmas I’m defo buying this one! 😁
This was my most anticipated video of yours
Hope it delivered
@TiagoCatarino thank you for the heart, it did
Great review. I recently got addicted to modular buidlings. But this one is not on my list. While the theme is amazing, the color choice is not for me. It seems Lego has picked these colors just because they weren't used in a modular building before. I rather go for the boutique hotel.
Just get both. You’ll regret not having bought it in a couple of years when it retires and quadruples in price
You can always get it and then go to Rebrickable and do a Alternated build of the JazzClub.
Great review Tiago! I like the moldular 2023 but did not excite me as last year hotel indeed.
Awesome vid, thanks for sharing! Sending love from vegas
As a Jazzmusician I'm disappointed at some minor Details.
Not enough minifigures who listen the music or could play it.
Why is there no piano? Essential to every Jazzclub! I would love to See some more new Instruments as Minifigure Accessoires Like a trumpet, trombone or clarinet.
Also there is no real bar....
Last but not least, I think in a Jazz set it could be debated if it wasn't a good idea to include some black heads and hands since the history of jazz in America is one of black independence...
I really would like to have some pieces to build some more "original looking" players.
I wanted to put Charlie Parker next to Ella Fitzgerald.
Where are the thick glasses and the jazz Barret?
Agree with everything!
Yeah, and the stage is too small
Good remarks 👍
Oooh great ideas for minifigs
@@Eduardgc as a professional jazz musician I can say, that this detail is quite accurate. Also the number of tables 😂
I am normally to so into modulair building but this one looks very cool!
This might have to be the first Lego set I spend more than $50 on, it’s so cute!
been waiting for this review since last year's Boutique hotel!
Hope you got to watch some videos in-between! 😅
Personally, I prefer to create MOC buildings, but the 'official' Lego buildings are improving. I like the Jazz Club, for example, it has some good detail. :)
Great video review. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I wonder if there are any hints or ester eggs in this set for the 2024 Modular, haha.
This Lego set looks so cool! I am in a jazz band so it means a lot to me.
I’ve been waiting for this set 😎I’m gonna start collecting all the modular sets
You won't be able to get them all unless you have unlimited funds, I think the green grocer's from years past is about $3k now. I started late as well and there are some I just won't be able to get.
@@BillieJoSunrise oh yeah, I won’t be getting any of the older ones 😅
Ngl this looks pretty fire 🔥
4:20 All I hear from Tiago is "My favorite detail here is [context words that I'm willfully ignoring] TECHNIC elements." YES! IT'S TRUE, TIAGO ADMITS HIS LOVE FOR TECHNIC.
Do you have any recommendations on a good method for using the new road tiles with the modular building base plates, so they look like they match?
I've seen a number of good suggestions on youtube so far, but haven't been able to decide on what the best or most efficient method of getting these to line up will be.
great video !
I'm actually thinking about putting it next to the fire brigade, with the palace cinema being opposite that street. I think it'll give the whole street a homogeneous new York vibe and i like the idea of the big light fixture signs of PC and JC making it feel like that street is entertainment based
Will def be getting this. Love the vibe of the jazz interior and the look of the exterior altho the blue seems a bit off. But ideal if bigger ie entire module was jazz club and also a mezzanine w tables. Also very unrealistic to have a connecting pizza place. Love the yellow would have bought several if the buidlings were separate. Love the greehouse on the roof too.
Great reviews as usual! Bravo!
But you haven’t even watched it yet lol
Glad you like them!
@@littlebillygoat it Is a trademark! Always great! 😀
@@pippodream well ok then.
Great minifigs, squirrel and fantastic toilet...🤗🤗🤗 Nothing more is worth mentioning. Great step back...
The corner spot is always going to be extra interesting. Just like real life real estate!
3:18 the Lego mini hat as detail, the hat keeps the flower in place
Before I saw this LEGO set it didn't look good until I watched the review now I'm really want it I may save up for it
I Love your content
My girlfriend and I love jazz clubs and concerts, she’s gonna be thrilled when she sees this!! 😄
There is a Moc version of the Jazz Club were you can turn it into a corner modular. What i like about the Moc is that it has more shape to it vs building a box like the original JazzClub.
im so excited to pick this up - itll be torture however as i work at a lego store and i cant pick it up until February 😭😭😭 thank you for the review!!!
Hey I love your videos
Love the support!
I love your vids
Love the support!
This one isn't really for me but I'm excited to see what everyone's going to do with it.
Brilliant review, still not convinced….will need to see it in the flesh
When I build my jazz club I’m going to put it next to the palace cinema to make a little entertainment part of my city.
I think this looks really great, and better than what I initially thought. Only disappointment to me is that you can’t separate it in 2, mostly because the place I was planning to put in my city is between the palace cinema and detective office (for my beachside mid century American entertainment district) and I think the bright yellow pizzeria just contrasts a bit too much.
I might just build it in 2 because it won’t matter if there’s a hole between the 2 since they will be placed next to buildings
These buildings are too connected, seperating them makes no sense
I love your vids and they are very helpful.
Glad you think so!
I'd love to meet you sometime.
I personally love Lego sets of all kinds.
Happy to see it will fit best next to the new hotel though the details combined look overwhelming vs the other sets. Next to bookshop swapped will be my choice. How do you feel about it’s price point Tiago ?
Fair. After the price adjustments in summer, modulars are still some of the best bang for your buck kinda sets. Less than 10 cents a piece is very rare these days.
this actually looks cool 😀
I think that the nest on the roof is for for the bird that came with bookstore set. Maybe squirrel is hint for new set?
some nice building techniques here - I particular like the stained glass windows, and how the stage is at an angle on top of the floor tiles. Overall though the whole set feels a bit off, like the inside is just a bit too plain/simplified for what the source material is. not for me but thats ok
awesome video!
i liked the set
So...I think I am going to take the plunge and start building a collection of the modular buildings for display. What top 3 would you recommend I start with? I don't own any of the sets currently. I notice the Assembly Square is more expensive than the others - is it worth it?
4:19 sue-ing machine! It needs a lawyer!
I am known amongst my friends for my homemade cocktails and pizza's, and I have a dream of opening a bar one day that plays live jazz music and serves pizza's and other snacks... It's like this set was tailor made for me
I love your channel sir
When do we get the GwP? The Pizza van?
I wish they made like mini Modular’s, like just small modular sets, still minifigure scale but cheaper
I think you made a mistake on the red/white/green overhangs for the pizza shop!
How do you keep your modulars so clean?! My are whole in dust...
Now we need a Lego Viola and Cello
Omg it’s amazing
I agree, it looks better next to the boutique hôtel 🤙
Closest thing to a bar or pub lego will ever put out.
Hi.. Great review as usual ;)
Did you try to put the Sanctum Sancturum on its side ?
I don't have it yet!
@@TiagoCatarino It's a great set, you should take it ! and bonus, it's a Modular too, but a Marvel one 😇
Nice video! A question, do you think modular buildings in general are worth buying as a one off for more casual collectors, or are they only really good for people who want to collect loads of them?
I guess they can work as one offs but there's the risk with getting one, that you're likely to get more :P
They're still very "LEGOy" types of LEGO sets with lots of basic bricks and cool details for minifigures, so I can totally see them as good one offs.
@@TiagoCatarino Thanks for your reply, very helpful 😊
Would you like to make a review on the palace cinema if you still have it?
Jazz Club 🔥
Looks very nice
It does. Not the best looking though. But that's just me
They could have done the Pizzeria seperatly
The first floor layout just feels odd with the colors and open view from the stage to the oven. A door would have helped with that. This wouldn't be a hindrance to play between the areas either.
The lack of sign for the pizza place would make sense if there wasn't a front door access. A small "to go" sign or something would be great to suggest the kitchen doubles as a takeout joint.
Tip: sure it has been said plenty but when putting in the “jazz club” marque it has a tendency to cave in the roof of the ticket booth. Learned the hard way.
4:20 I'd never have expected to hear the words "favorite detail" and "technic elements" in the same sentence from you... :D
you got me :P
The squirrel on the roof making a nest from the leaves from the Bookshop set
I just want the jazz singer and the bass.
FUN FACT: the bass guy is also one of the minifigures in the new Lego City police training camp set
Nobody seems to be talking about the fact that they’re doing a new way of having mini figures connect to the baseplate, instead of jumper tiles it’s just studs
This might be the first modular i get, i really like the asthetic of the jazz club
Gosh I love this set
Até está bem giro!
This more detailed insight into the interior design convinces me a bit more, so I suppose no skipping modular this year. However, the colours still hurt my eyes so much... esp. blue bottom floor and the canary yellow, that barely matches any building. Maaayybee the candy shop from the police station, but then the whole thing changes into a Friends section of the city 🤨
I’ve seen plenty of garishly colored buildings while living in the city, doesn’t seem too unrealistic to me. Especially since this building is small and set back, a dark color would make it too hidden.
I've never owned any modulars yet. Which should I start with, to get the best bang for my buck? Is the corner garage worth it's current price, or should I buy the latest ones firsts as they're at the lowest they will ever be, and slowly save up to catch up on the older sets? Not looking to build a huge city, but at least 5-6 modular sets for a decent street.
The corner garage is probably the one I disliked the most to build. I would say the bookstore is a good one to get you started. Lots of clever builds, it's also split into two buildings so very good to take your time and likely to be one of the first ones to retire, out of every other modular still on shelves. If you like it, you'll still have time to get the others. (I guess assembly square might be the one to retire first, but that one is pricier than the bookstore)
