I had a customer with a highboy, I think he used the car, to get a discount outta me, whenever I did work for him. He’d show me the car, to just soften me up a bit. Sometimes the planets align, and you get the cool stuff. Congratulations!
My '32 Roadster bought in 1961 (LA, Ca. $650) had five different coats of paint and NO rust or body damage; original paint was Washington Blue. In California weather you do need a cowl vent on a Roadster; finally had to open up mine, it had a brass plate and ~4lb of lead filler. Taillights might be 1940's Chev. Have never seen a firewall with an insulator, never new they existed; I just spliced-in a 3/4" oak board which made it very easy to mount accessories under the dash. .

A bit early in the build to be choosing a color, but `65 Ford had a beautiful color called Tropical Turquoise that just might be what somebody picked 50-odd years ago. It was the first thing I thought of when you said turquoise. I repainted a `65 convertible with a white top back around `79 and it was stunning when done. Nice score on a bunch of rusty gold, I`ll be watching. BTW, I grew up in Mass (North Reading) and spent a couple of summers in Wellfleet in `57 and `59. A few of times we`d see a Stanley Steamer out chugging the streets of Wellfleet, impressive as hell. Screw turbos and nitrous, that thing was all business.
That’s interesting. Chevy had the similar color in 1957 called Tropic Turquoise. My 1934 Ford Coupe is that color. Built in 1962. Chevrolet also had a similar color in 58 called Tropical Turquoise. Similar but different. Not sure I want to own two turquoise cars. It was a metallic white/silver early in its life. I’m leaning towards that color and era of the car. I’ve got feelers out there for any history. Still digging.

I think your mystery panel goes behind the panel that’s under the deck lid. Like behind where tail lights would be mounted. I think the rain would catch in that little channel

Roughly, what sort of percentage of the purchase price, do you think you'll be able to recover/reinvest in the project, if you sell the surplus parts and panels you don't need? I’ll be happy if by selling off the parts I won’t use I’ll be into the car for half what I paid for everything. I’m probably going to sell the frame also. I can’t bring myself to cut up an original nice 32 frame to make a hotrod. If I sell that I’ll own the car for free and and have a surplus to buy parts.
Absolutely it is ! Just amazing. Excited ti keep digging into it and putting the pieces for the build to the side. The collecting is fun. But I know it’s going to be pricey.

I still have my dad's 1930 Ford hot rod that he built in 1955 very little has changed on that car from 1955 till now other than a refresh on the paint upgraded to 12 volt and a touch-up on the original white and burgundy tuck and roll interior other than that she's a time capsule from 1955 no money no nothing could ever get this car from me

Yup. 1970 Bay tin top. Alli claimed it. Weve taken it for a few drives around town. 👍🏼 We had a chance to buy it at a good price , so we did. It’ll get some tlc and bugs worked out. But for the most part it’s a solid complete Westy.

Hell no ! I dig the old metallic pearl color. It looks like early corvette. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. Still researching. But if and when it gets painted, it’ll go that color. Maybe. I’ve got them on my 29 and they don’t quite fit the holes that were cut out. I’ve spent time looking and measuring and I think there was 39 tail lights mounted horizontal and cut out w a torch at some point. My guess.
It’s close but metallic turquoise. It was a nice metallic silver / white (like an early corvette) very early on. After looking closer peeling back the layers of paint. If I do paint it (which I’m not sure at this point if I will ) it’ll be that pearl white color. It’s a really nice color. I’ll be doing another episode soon. Just for an update on what I’ve learned about the car.

Man idk, maybe you are super blessed and this wont be your only barn find 32 but if I were you I would build this thing all the way out, to a level you havnt done before. Not to be a downer since its also a huge win but this is probably the only time in your life youll find a 50s barn find 32. Its your car of course but i would make a statement with it. Put your legacy on it like the greats of yesteryear because this is a huge opportunity. It can be known for 100 yrs as the letendre roadster 😉

Negative. It was other colors early on. It’ll be one of the early colors when it was first made into a channeled east coast hotrod.

That piece that you didn't know what it is looks like the rocker panel for under the door on the driver's side.
Doesn’t appear to be for the car. The car has sub rails like a model a. Nothing rounded like that

Thats the problem with the 32 glee club, they do weird things with their 32’s like paint them pink and stuff but I know you aint like that 😊
Hell no ! I dig the old metallic pearl color. It looks like early corvette. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.
Still researching. But if and when it gets painted, it’ll go that color.
It’ll be on the ground w big n little blackwalls and 16” lyons I’ve got tucked away

1949/50 ford tail lights
Maybe. I’ve got them on my 29 and they don’t quite fit the holes that were cut out.
I’ve spent time looking and measuring and I think there was 39 tail lights mounted horizontal and cut out w a torch at some point.
My guess.
If you paint it turquoise itll match the 34
It’s close but metallic turquoise. It was a nice metallic silver / white (like an early corvette) very early on. After looking closer peeling back the layers of paint.
If I do paint it (which I’m not sure at this point if I will ) it’ll be that pearl white color.
It’s a really nice color.
I’ll be doing another episode soon. Just for an update on what I’ve learned about the car.
@@ThisOldHotrod pearl white would be such a PERFECT 50s show rod color. Man idk, maybe you are super blessed and this wont be your only barn find 32 but if I were you I would build this thing all the way out, to a level you havnt done before. Not to be a downer since its also a huge win but this is probably the only time in your life youll find a 50s barn find 32. Its your car of course but i would make a statement with it. Put your legacy on it like the greats of yesteryear because this is a huge opportunity. It can be known for 100 yrs as the letendre roadster 😉
