😂 Your son bringing home cardboard from school is so relatable. My daughter told her pre-K teachers “mommy and daddy are garbage people.” My husband actually is a sanitation worker, so with a little more explanation in Kindergarten we graduated to “daddy is a garbage man and mommy just likes garbage”. 😂
The figurehead looks amazing!!!
Lol that's so awesome!! I have no idea what my kids tell their teachers about what I do but I am sure it ends up in a lot of confusion lol! Thank you, I am so glad you like the figurehead!❤
I'm sure full story will be great 🤩 By the way - I think everyone here will agree with me that you pushed craft art into another level with this project. Personally, I learned a lot watching you. Also - got a lot of inspiration [during projects I was creating]. So... thank you for your work - honestly! I'm grateful 🥰
Thank you so much!! I am always happy to hear that my videos are inspiring other creatives out there in their own unique projects! That is the ultimate compliment😊
@@BentleyHouseMinis You're very welcome! I'm sure a lot of people think in a very same way 😊 Have a great week 🥰
It’s kind of cool to think that since the workspace is so close to the captain’s bedroom that maybe when she can’t sleep (or maybe doesn’t sleep) she goes out there to “clear her mind” with crafts like ship replica building and restoring the old ship pieces. Might need to add a coffee cup for her late night energy to work on those projects. Haha!
That's true! I having a feeling she does need sleep but it's often interrupted with her thoughts. Maybe that is why she has so many projects!😄
I cannot wait to hear the entire story of this ship
I have it mostly written, just need to edit and refine! 😊
Sitting at my work table, while watching the Captain's workbench build, I so wanted to say 'she needs light!'. Of course, assuming you were past the point of adding anything in that area, you wouldn't hear it from me. Needless to say, I was so happy to see the lights added for her century old eyes. Thanks Ara (that is from the Captain).
When you hung the figurehead, "majestic" was my first thought. And that is what a figurehead should be. This project has been incredible to watch unfold, eager to see it through to the finish (and read the story).
How cute of your son to bring you some cardboard bc you "love cardboard" This reminds me of one Christmas my 6 year old son was so excitd to give me a present that he exclaimed "Would solve ALL of my problems!" He gave me a tortilla press. So adorable!
Ara, watching this entire project unfold has honestly been a privilege. Your thought processes and the deep care you take to adhere to the story (whatever that may be) are truly inspiring and I look forward to seeing any and all future projects. The figurehead is wonderful and the setting could not have been better realized. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!! It's been really fun piecing together the story and seeing what I can make of all the individual pieces coming together. Like a big puzzle lol! I am so glad you have enjoyed it!
I swear every time you focus more on a certain project it is my ultimate favourite, then another one gets the spotlight and THAT'S my favourite. I honestly love all of your creations, Ara!
😄😄I appreciate that!! Lol! Thank you!
How in the world is this project just getting better and better?! Ara that sculpture is chef kiss awesome.
😊😊 Thank you!! I am so glad it's getting better! Sometimes I add things and think... has this just totally gone off the deep end?😄🤷♀️
Love the new story elements. Wish the drop cloth had little paws prints somehow. You know how our furry friends help us work.
Love seeing Stormy wandering around in the back round😄 I think you have officially become comfortable with the electrical lighting darlin 🎉🎉! Mr. Technology is probably very proud.
I want to do a studio re-design and I am hoping I can put a little dog bed up high so she shows up more in the videos, she is just so short it's hard to see her😄 He has been proud of my initiative! I still had a few questions this week to make sure I was doing things correctly ;) I'll get there!
Oh my goodness Ara! This is so fantastic! It's truly gorgeous! I am fascinated by ship's figureheads. All the details in every part of this build look so beautiful now that the lighting is in place! Wow! I am totally wowed!
Thank you so much Ara!
Lisa
Thank you Lisa!! They are really fascinating pieces of history! I am glad I was able to find a way to incorporate a figurehead into this project😊
You hit it out of the park every episode! Amazing doesn't even do you justice! We kneel as we are not worthy!
😊😄 Thank you Mike!!
Just imagine it started out with just a singular box ( the original captains quarters) and now it’s a HUGE ship. This is awesome Ara and congrats on your new children’s book! You soooo rock!
😊😊 Thank you Robin!! It is wild to think how far it has changed since the very beginning! Past Ara had no idea what was coming😄
Stormy caught the "Sky Raisin". Good Girl!
haha I will have to remember that term lol!
I'm having trouble finding words to describe how I feel about this project. I'm beyond being in awe of your skills Ara. Your use of basic building supplies is so inspiring to us fellow crafters who can only hope to one day obtain the skills that you quite clearly have. Bravo!!
😊😊Thank you Kim!! It has definitely been a journey of learning. It takes time but anyone who keeps going and working on miniatures can achieve this too if they want to! I am so happy to be able to share what I know so far😊
I’m not sure which I’m more excited about!!! I just watched this with my mom and we both love seeing the hats and sword and scabbard in the project and so thrilled you like them. I’m tickled you noticed all the details on my part of the creation, the sword and scabbard. I’m not exactly prolific maker, more an ideas person. But I’m just as excited about the figurehead! Major Cthulhu vibes and I totally love me some Lovecraft! Everything is just so amazing on this project, and just the things you think to do I would never think about! But I learn and consider as I create concepts. I’m really happy to see it all come together and very proud of you. And stormy, for getting the fly! ❤️❤️❤️ from both of us, Chelsea and Catherine
The sword and scabbard were just wonderful! And I wish I had the camera on me when I realized that the sword was actually removeable!! I think my jaw dropped at the detail🤩 Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent with me and for this project! It's an honor to have pieces from you both in this project❤❤ Take care and have a lovely day!
I learned in college, from my art teacher; that Murphys Oil can save your paint brushes. Yes, The Murphys oil, that you use for cleaning/condishing wood. Leave your paint brush to soak for 10-30 mins in it full strength. Then start gently cleaning it as it gets soft. When it's clean set to dry. I know that thier are thousands of paint brush cleaning hacks, this one actually works. Try it before you throw away another brush.
Thank you for this tip! Thankfully I have not thrown away the brush... I just keep it for the purpose of using with dry wall spackle. But I will give it a try and see if it works!
Wonderful! The figurehead turned out brilliant as did the rest of the restoration bay. Thanks for giving a better look at those lamps made from straws. Centauri is very proud, I'm sure, of his appointment as Guard Cat. And Stormy is probably as proud of catching that fly for you! Well done! Just a little bit to go...
Haha yes I think Stormy was feeling very tough! As she always does when barking at things from inside of the house😄 I bet Centauri is a little more fierce than my Stormy but I won't tell her that lol! Thank you so much, I am so glad you like it all!
This is without a doubt my very favorite project!! It is TOTALLY OUTSTANDING!!! I wish it was possible to see it in person!!! I know you’re humble self will say you had a lot of outside help, true BUT it’s your imagination and how to to do…. I could go on & on !!! You’re the BEST ARA!!! 👏👏👏❤️
Thank you Kathy!! I am so glad you like it so much😊 I did have a lot of help and I think that is what led to this project being so unique. But I appreciate your comment of the curation of the project all coming together! It's been an absolute joy to work on!❤
This entire project is blowing me away!! So much more detailed and fascinating than I could have ever imagined. To say you are an artistic genius would be an understatement, Ara!
😊😊 Thank you!! I appreciate that!
The figurehead is so amazing! I cannot wait to hear the story and see the reveal of everything finished. It has been really fun to see this developing piece by piece, and I never could have imagined how elaborate it would get.
I didn't imagine how detailed it would get either lol!! I am so glad you are liking how it's all coming out! Thank you!
I'm just putting this out there. The captain needs a beautiful gown hanging in her wardrobe... maybe just peaking out from behind her captains coat. From one of her many undercover rescue ventures. Giving that Riri from Valerian vibes.
I picture the Captain as one who prefers a good pair of pants over anything lol! But I am sure there are times in her travel where a dress may have helped out. I will keep that in mind! Thank you!
I’ve really enjoyed the Captain’s Quarters build but I’ll be glad when you can get back to the Beetlejuice build, I’ve been really missing it. Really I love everything you do, I find it all so fascinating. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤️
I have missed it too! I am hoping to do Deetz-ember and get Lydia made before the end of the year😊
The full story is going to be just amazing and my curiosity is completely piqued! The figurehead is just gorgeous and all the other elements you installed and details you added are mesmerizing. That cardboard was definitely super special cardboard! I always learn something new every time you sculpt something, so I really appreciate that. Thank you for all the inspiration!
Thank you so much Rachael!! I agree about the cardboard... it was given to me with love so it had to used for a special project indeed! ;) I am so glad you enjoyed it!😊
You did so much in this video, and I love the figurehead. Fun thing is that people would not even realize that it wasn't some mythical creature back then.
And another character, my writer heart be still, how pleasant.
Don't stress too much, enjoy finishing this project as much as you can. Editing can wait. :}
Thank you Yezzy!! I am so excited to introduce the new character so I hope you will like him! I really needed an outsider that the Captain could explain things too (for story purposes). The robots and Centauri are already in the know lol!😄
It almost comes to an end, such a long journey. I can't wait to see the finish project and hear the captain's story.
Thank you!! I hope I can film it all before I have to pack it up lol!
I love the figurehead. She is kinda cute, in a weird sort of way. I covet the "metal" stairs. They are awesome. You really should be doing miniature sets for sci-fi movie productions. Wowzer. And I love!!! the eye in the figurehead. Love the videos.
Thank you Pat!! I am not sure I could work on a movie production schedule lol ;) too much pressure! I am so glad you are enjoy the videos and how the project is coming out!
It's coming out really great, take all the time you need & have a great weekend.
You will have plenty of practice breaking it down and assembling, by the time you take it to the museum. That figure head looks fantastic it does remind me of monsters inc. You should make that a t-shirt- "Why make a new mess, when you can use the mess you already made". I had thought you needed a captain hat, that looks great.
Yes, tons of practice lol!! I can't seem to get anything done without taking it entirely apart😄 Thank you so much JD!
This was fabulous! Loved the Captain Masthead!
Thank you!! I am so glad you like how it came out!
So inspiring, yet again. Thanks Ara. The figurehead is great. I'm looking forward to hearing the whole story. This project is beautiful. A real treat for everyone visiting the museum. Well done!
I am so glad you liked how the figurehead came out! thank you!
The ‘carving’ is so good.
😊😊Thank you!
Oh I love the restoration area! The figurehead looks fabulous and the rest of the lighting sets it all off perfectly. Can't wait to discover who or what the next character is. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I hope everyone likes him! I realized I need an outside character for the Captain to talk to! I am really excited about him😊
It's been such a pleasure watching this series grow from an 18th century ship to a spaceship. I never would have guessed this little project would have grown so big. Brava to all the new additions you just added. They're all amazing, Ara!
Thank you Marty!! I definitely didn't think it would grow this big either lol! I am so glad you like it!
You are such gifted, creative miniature artisan! Thank you for sharing your journey of creation and your process with us. I get so inspired by you and your work.
Thank you❤❤ I am always so happy to share! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Ara, I’m amazed at all the details you’ve incorporated into this project. Thank you for sharing all your hard work.
Thank you Leslie! I am trying to get as much detail in there as I can lol!
I have been enjoying these videos. I hope you make another book about the Captain's Quarters.
All I can say Ara is WOW. I am speechless 😮
The figurehead looks so perfect when you see it by the stained glass windows! I can’t help but wonder if maybe the wood is actually some type of large coral that forms in space, making a comparable material to our Earth wood 🤔 however I’m completely invested in the tiny robots and can’t wait to see them together/learn about what they do! 💕
Boy this adds more depth to the story! With the others so excited to hear the story, with the finished piece!!So creative Ara!👏👏❣️
Thank you Olivia! It's been such a fun challenge to figure out how it all comes together lol! (in the project and story!)
Ara, you really captured the look of a wooden figurehead. It makes me want to know so many things about the captain. Was she from Earth and over evolution turned into an humanoid species or is she from a water planet or … I could go on and on. Very creative my friend. Also love the map area, the caution tape, really just everything. ❤
Haha those are all the questions I am having to answer too in the story! I hope to get it out pretty quickly after I get back from the museum ;) Thank you so much Lesley, I am so glad you like it all!
Ara it's so Freaking Cute you did an Awesome Job as Always...Shout Out to your Lovely Son for looking out for his Mommy 💖💖💖💖
I am so loving this artistic journey! I am so looking forward to seeing it in person at the Museum and meeting you! Keep the creativity flowing!
I am looking forward to that too!!! I think it will be so fun for us all to celebrate the unveiling of the Captains Quarters together😊
Love the alien figurehead - and I can’t wait to hear the captain’s story. 🙂
thats the most fun-adding all the bits and pieces, tools, maps, etc.
It is!! It really comes alive!
I’m sad the build is coming to an end…it’s my favorite.
The figurehead is incredible! The entire project is looking amazing! Can't wait to hear the story.
That drop cloth is inspired. I am definitely making a note of that technique because it might be just what I need.
I am so glad you liked that part! It was super fun to create!
You are amazing.. the details, the figure head is stunning, and all your lighting is just perfect... Congratulations to you.. I love everything....❤🎉🎉
😊😊 Thank you!! The lighting makes me so happy every time I turn it on! I appreciate it❤
Wow! So much creativity in this video! I really enjoyed watching. Your sculpting is fascinating. I loved watching you plan and solve problems as you went, and the final result turned out to be amazing!
I really enjoyed trying to create a 'carved look' without having to actually carve things (because I don't know how to do that...yet). It was such a fun process to figure out! Thank you😊
So much I don't know where to start! 🥰 The figurehead looks amazing! The aquatic form explains a lot about the love of ships and coral. I love the details in the Restoration Bay and around the hallway underneath, especially the "Guard Cat" signs. 😸 (Centauri actually looks pretty friendly, though.) The drop cloth is a good idea so the Captain doesn't drip paint or turpentine on the hallway underneath! The straw lighting looks just right, too. I look forward to meeting the new character and learning more about the Captain's story.
Lol yes Centauri is very friendly to those he has already checked out ;) But you better make sure you pass the cat-check haha! Thank you so much Laura!!❤
This was really super cool, you accomplished so many things considering one project, your Alien Captain was imo a big project on its own. I really love this ship, it's just so cool. I love how your ship evolved over time!! You probably had the end goal in your mind all along. It'll be a huge hit at the museum, it's so creative and innovative plus so finely detailed!! I also wanted to say that imo your Alien Captain reminds me of a cross between Star Trek and Pirates of The Caribbean!! It's just so cool!! ❣️
To be honest, I had no idea it would look like this in the beginning so it's been a surprise for us all lol! The Figurehead definitely was a big task to take on (especially so late in the project) but I always kind of had an idea of how it would look so that part of the process was quick. I am so glad you like how it came out! Thank you!
Every week I’m amazed at how much you’re getting done. ❤
Everything looks really great!
Please be sure to take a little time for yourself. Don’t work yourself ragged. ❤
I did take some time this weekend! I stayed mostly offline and we carved pumpkins and did family things. It was great😊
@@BentleyHouseMinis ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loving how this project is coming together, all the details are so fascinating. I think a boot print/s on that drop cloth would be a great touch too
Oh that is a good idea! Thank you so much!
Loved the sculpture. It turned out brilliantly.
😊 Thank you so much!
Looking fantastic and I knew 5 of the ships but only the older ones lol
It looks amazing! I love the little tongue in cheek secret items, like the “guard cat” sign.
Thank you! 😊 I just couldn't help myself lol!
@@BentleyHouseMinis they take over our lives. I found a catnip toy on my bed. I thought some one left it here, until it happened again. Same place, right on my pillow. I tossed it on the floor. It happened again! This time when I tossed it on the floor, my cat brought it back up and gave it to me. Not to play, just because she wanted me to have it.
The directions you've taken this project are so incredibly creative and new. Combo spaceship and 1700 sailing vessel? Amazing. Always a delight to watch your videos and I get inspiration every time. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!
Her helment looks kind of like a turtle shell (at least at this point in the video).
She really looks fantastic!
I wanted to keep it looking simple but still 'aquatic/natural' looking so that works for me! I didn't want it to look too futuristic.
@@BentleyHouseMinis She's great. I really love it!
Absolutely fantastic work Ara, just love the figurehead and the drop sheet. Just perfect!
You are a true artist I very much enjoyed all your videos. The figurehead came out. Amazing, I love all the little details like the Maps and the tools in the signage. The guard cat sign was hilarious. I can’t wait to hear the full story behind the project.
I am so happy you liked the Guard Cat sign! I thought it was funny too lol! Thank you!!
It's looking amazing Ara .
I am blown away every time I watch one of you videos!!!
😊😊 Thank you so much!
This is really coming together beautifully now.Looks very much like the inside of a ship .It’s different for you and shows so much of your creativity.I love the figure head too 🥰
Your imagination is just something else. I love the restoration bay, it’s brilliant especially the charts (Map) table the only thing missing is some paint pots but that’s nothing . I love your work
Thank you! I might add some paint pots too if I have time ;) But as we all know, a mini project is never really done so if I don't get in some paint I can add that to my 'sneak in' list later lol! I am so glad you like it!!
I am so proud for you! Can't wait to see the completed project ❤
Thank you Angela! I am so excited to see it wrapped up as well!
Thank you for sharing. A thought for your bag of triangles: maybe some really intresting patterned wooden flooring or a tile wall/backsplash/ceiling? Outside miniatures they could be added to a frame either to cover it or just add some extra intrest to certain sides or corners, holes drilled into two matching to make earrings that make you think of the project or a charms for a bracelet or necklace, or you could glue them together to make a small sculptural art piece for a desk or shelf.
Looking forward to meeting the new character and hearing the story!
Absolutely brilliant as usual. My favourite UA-camr. Much love to you and yours xxxxx
😊😊 Thank you!!
Wow Ara! The figurehead is so fantastic, the whole area turned out so perfect. I'm glad you fixed cat tower to be safe during time travel turbulence lol. I wonder what that feels like? I'm so proud of you taking on the lighting like you did, I'm still a scared little child. Patiently waiting for the story, umm maybe patiently is too strong a word. Best of luck getting finished up and to the museum. Oh, this is Cassandra from Houston btw, I don't know why my name changed. xxx
Thank you Cassandra!! I was scared of it for a long time... and to be honest I am still learning with a lot of caution because I still don't understand it all. But I hope to keep sharing what I know so that others can learn and try it out too!
Wow, amazing progress. LOVE the caution tape! And all the new details. Good luck if we don't see you next time!
Thank you😊😊
Hello Ara, it has been a minute since I've been on UA-cam but as everyone knows, life happens. Your video showed up and, of course, I had to watch. Wow, wow, wow! Outstanding, just really amazing, and so much fun. I'll be sure to watch all your other videos leading up to this one. Hopefully I'll be able to spend some time on yt now and like always, I know your videos will be a complete joy. Sending so much love to you and your channel❤
It's so great to see your name pop up! I am so glad you liked the video and I hope you enjoy the other ones too❤ I hope life is being kind to you, my friend!!
It was a walnut shell for a minute 😂 the details are so good in the restoration area, the sculpt is wild! The only thing I might add is one random towel and/or tool left on the top level OR the actual figurehead. Ha! I’d definitely leave a tool or rag somewhere and forget it’s there.
But seriously your insane attention to detail has made strides in this project!
The random towel on the figurehead is such a good idea! I will save a piece next time I am aging with another paper towel lol! You always see random rags still on the project that being reworked. Great idea! Thank you Kerri!
Absolutely loved this episode. It might have been a good idea to add some warning tape around the cutout on the floor on top of the restoration bay though? It's truely a work of art :-)
Oh that's a great idea too! I will see if I have time to add it! Thank you😊❤
❤Awesome
I love to see your processes....imaginative and humorous. Brilliant 😊
Thank you so much😊
I love the captain's (and your) attention to workplace safety aboard the ship! space osha would be proud :)
Journalists say, "Put the paper to bed," as a finishing phrase.
It looks amazing Ara, I wish I could see it in person. It's amazing how well it tells a story.
The model puddle jumper got me, I thought it was Thunderbirds lol
Thank you Zoe!! Thunderbirds is a good guess though lol!
This has been my favorite series you have done! I have watched each episode more than once. 😁 Looking forward to visiting it in person next time I’m in AZ!
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy seeing it in person!!😊
I absolutely love your thought process for all of this build!
I love the distinct lighting difference between the two ages of ship. And the caution tape is the perfect touch!
Thank you!! It's wild what a difference lighting can make in the feel of a project. I just happen to have those two warm light strips left over from the Addams house and it was just what I needed for this piece!
I love it; the finished result, of course, but following all the thought processes and knowing why you did this or that (the marks of old wood separating, the face-mask, etc), just makes it even more satisfying to see.
Thank you!! I am so glad the explanations help along the way, that's what I love in crafting videos when I watch... I want to know why something was done lol!
Sell the triangles by the bag. I'd love some. My arthritis keeps me from cutting. Since you started selling the "oops" it's been a lot more fun for me. It's a thought.
Maybe when I get back from the trip I can add some. Would you prefer that they were triangles that all matched? There are so many different types in there!
I think a mix would be fun!
I'm thrilled that you've done this. I can now enjoy my creativity again. 😌
triangles, geodesic dome maybe?
Man, I wish I could see it in person. Loving it. The caution tape really added to the project. I have get some of those straws...I really like the light effects.
You should! They have come in handy for this project more times than I can count lol! I wouldn't have pictures that when I first purchased them lol! Thank you so much!
This really is an amzaing project!! Like the earrings! Thank you and Greetings 👋
Thank you! 😊
How amazing! I love how the back drop of the figure head is the stain glass windows!! I can’t pick my favorite everything is just wonderful 😊 can’t wait for the next video to meet the new character! Those hat are fabulous ❤ Good job Stormy! As always thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you Liz!! Yes I feel like people we actually see the stained glass on the outside even more now because there is a reason to really look over there lol! I am very excited to introduce him😊
It looks so wonderful. It’s all looking so great. I will be wondering who the new character will be. Curiously and curiously. Curiosity, did something to the cat but I don’t want anything to happen to the kitty 🐈⬛ cat. I love what you did with the figure head. She looks amazing. It really looks like, the captain has just stepped away from that area, for just a moment. I love the model space ship area too. The lighting you made for it is perfect, for the space. Great work on everything, you should be definitely proud, of all the work and details, you have made in the last couple of weeks. Good for you. 🤗
Haha don't worry, Centauri is safe!! The stepped-away feel is just what I was going for so I really appreciate that! Thank you so much Dianne!❤
If you've ever read the children's book "My Dog's a Chicken," your dog's a Flyswatter 😂🥰
I never imagined that back when I first found your channel and remembering how inspired I felt watching the abandoned coffee shop that I would one day or ever inspire you!🥹 Thank You So Much My Friend, it's always a wonderful surprise when I am so into the video and then hear a shout out to me. I really love the straw idea and how they almost look like paper lanterns. 😊❤
The head figure came out awesomely, and I'm glad you added a reminder about adding water to the lightweight spackle, I think I can save mine, 🤔 hope I didn't throw it away.
When you were creating the Infinity hall (so long ago) did you ever imagine that area looking like it does now and all that is going on?!?!
I also realized I never sent you those scrolled maps I made, and now kicking myself, this would have been a perfect opportunity to use them and save you some work, you said you had so many I didnt send any.🫣🥺 Note To Self: When Ara says she has so many, send more!!😊❤
Love all the Detail you add. The figurehead is awesome. Way to go. Looking forward to the story of the Captain.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🍁🎃🍁
Thank you so much Debbra!!
OMG,wonderful, only thing I would have changed is blue instead of redbecause of the ocean but its your story ,love the stuff.
Thank you! I chose red to go with the colors on the interior of the ship but I can see how blue would have worked well too, especially with the stained class windows so near by!
This all looks amazing!
Thank you Alicia!
Very Cthuluesque.
She looks wonderful! Love your imagination Ara💜💜💜
😊😊 Thank you Sara!!
So cool. She also sort of reminds me a little bit of the aliens in Galaxy Quest, the Thermians.
I will have to look those up!
Looks great! I'm looking forward to the story.
Thank you Tina!!😊
That figure head is amazing. Now I want to try to work with paper clay. ♥
I enjoy working with it a lot! Keep a little bowl of water near by and that will make it easy to smooth and form.
this was great as always, it would be super cute if you added some little paw prints on the drop sheet as if the cat had stepped in paint!
