TSP {Two Stroke Performance} now offers ECU's with their own custom mapping and a head insert to match for both the XC and XCW that makes substantial performance gains for different types of riding and terrain and if you have an XC you can send your stater in and have it rewound to produce more power for lights and a fan, KTM is still miles ahead of all the other companies in 2 stroke R&D.
I have about 9 hours on my 24 300 XCW now and i must say, its a fabulous bike. Had a 17 and 21 300 XCW before and they were also good bikes, but the new closed chamber forks have left me with little to be desired left. I always felt with the XPLOR i wasnt really rising a real dirt bike. The new model XACT is confidence inspiring to say the absolute least. I run a 25mm lowering kit on all these 300's i have owned as well and im not super excited about the shorter shock on the 24 300, which is my only real gripe.
Could do a fuel pick-up relocate. But I agree, I tried the 24 tx300 and just too responsive for enduro/hard enduro. I wanna try a smaller bore 150 or xc125.
Started riding again after 20+ years off and I’m 45 now. I’m riding a Crf250F now and need an upgrade. Mostly trail riding and light jumping stuff. Looking at this or the Sherco 300 SE. we ride up here in Ohio.
Pretty darn close. In New Franklin close to Canal Fulton. We ride at Bear Creek and Battlesburg when we can. I have a 7 year old son I’m getting into riding.
I have a Sherco and really like it. Having a local dealer makes a huge difference when ordering parts and not having to pay shipping. Aftermarket has a good set of options for the later years. If you don’t have that get the KTM/husky/gasgas option.
Haven’t been there yet that’s next on my list. Anyone aware of where in Ohio we have Sherco dealers?? I tried the dealer locator but nothing was coming up. That’s a big one for me. I don’t want to buy a Sherco and have to go 6 hours away for dealer support.
I've run mine out of gas twice, these bikes seem to burn more fuel. Looking forward to Acerbis making an after market tank that fits around the oil pump.
Kyle, Love the videos! I have been riding a KDX200 for years, thinking about a newer bike. If you couldn't swing a new KTM 300 XC-W what year would you look for 2020-24? I understand to look for owner detail, abuse and modifications, but if everything is equal, which year?
I just ran out of gas tonight on my road home. Bike has prob 15 miles of gas in it still. This is a real problem. I’d rather have the vulnerable petcock than have a tank that runs dry when I can see a half a gallon in it.
Good to see the triple clamps are a new design as the cast clamps are junk. The best thing I ever did was swap them for the SXF or 6 day machined CNC @ 18mm offset.
@@cw3728 the cast has more flex and it's only until you swap them out and realise the stability is better and I'd say matches the new forks giving some confidence to the front end that's been missing for a while 👍
Was just riding my older 300 xcw and got caught BFE pitch black night! That stock headlight is a joke… ended up going down…! What is the best headlight setup I can buy?
Rode a new one the other day... bit dissapointing. Heaps of feedback through the frame, like a 2008. Looks to have gone back to steeper pds angle. Motor falls on it's face above the low end. With TSP mods it'll prob be nice. Also if they update to Billy Bolt's frame next year.
On the fuel pickup thing, if you run the bike until it runs out of gas there isn’t any more left that there was in the old petcock bikes. It could be an issue if you were on a smooth road but that’s exactly rare circumstances. I’m on a 2018 now and I don’t know wether to keep it and get a ‘24 or sell.
The petcocks had a reserve on them which allows you to get the rest of the fuel out, that is the difference. I’ve ran out of fuel plenty of time then switched it to reserve and rode back to camp with no fuel left in the tank, that’s how it should be on these new bikes!
So is this the only 300cc 2-stroke enduro bike from KTM? I always get so confused with the model lines. Still trying to figure out the difference between an enduro bike and a cross-country bike
Normally it’s a gearing difference. KTM thinks rear suspension should be different. Otherwise enduro bikes have softer suspension allowed by the generally slower speeds of enduro. It’s all gray lines as you’re suspecting, especially since people ride MX bikes for enduro and XC and seem to be ok with it.
I still only have my 04’ 450 EXC and have no desire to get a newer bike. I use computer fans for the radiator at the moment, I have the ktm fan but it won’t fit with my IMS tank unless I heat gun a recessed spot for it. Still debating on that. Sucks KTM dropped the kickstarter.
You never own/ride a bike long enough to "break" them. The normal guy spends $13,000 on a bike and rides it 3,4,5 or more seasons. It's at this point failures start to happen. Not in 7 months of riding the bike 3 times, then giving it away. Sheesh!
Lee is right. I didn’t take it as him being harsh. Kyle does catch the early issues and glaring factory build issues and addresses them. I appreciate that and him pointing out the power difference right away in the xc-w most people weren’t addressing. The long term stuff comes from others. I’ll happily post a long term review of his give away bike. LOL

What’s your favorite rear tire for moderate single track dirt and rocks
Can you premix your fuel on the 24 xc-w or do you have to use the oil injection system?
The fuel pickup think is just incredible … you’re carrying 1,5 liters of gas you won’t be able to use… for the rest of the bike, it’s awesome
I had to ditch the start/stop button. The stock push button sucks period.
Beautiful bikes don't get me wrong but I'll be hanging onto my 17 exc 300 for now . I love it
