Does your blood type impact your longevity?

- The discovery of the ABO blood group system is now considered one of the most important discoveries in the history of medicine. As I’ve been reading more about blood, its importance and links with longevity, along with the ABO blood group , it got me thinking - does blood group have an impact for health? Well, before we get to that, we first need to address what is the molecular underpinnings of the blood groups.

i hope you are blood-thirsty for information!!
RBCs constitute 80% of total body cells, the strange fact is that they are unnucleated and can live and function for 120 days
Type O blood was supposed to be called type Zero blood (0) but it's not. It doesn't make sense to move from C to O, but it would make sense to say both A and B tags are absent, hence the use of zero. Right? No. The O is actually correct and comes from the German word "ohne" meaning "without". Though zero is in use some places maybe just colloquially/incorrectly.
My dad was a doctor (in a European country), and I grew up to hearing it called "zero"...
@@Julian-tf8nj 0 (nulla) negatív/pozitiv is the Hungarian way. Even Germans use the ZERO character instead of the O on most websites I've checked. Kinda weird for them to not care about "ohne" being the root.
In Germany we call it „Null“ which means zero.
On the old rotary phones, the dial had numbers 1 to 9 and 'O' which stood for "Operator." You can tell who grew up with rotary phones and who didn't by how they read phone numbers.
Some follow up videos on surface glycoproteins, collagen cross-linking, boron's, iron's and copper's role here, and how changes in sialylation can affect cell adhesion, immune recognition, and signaling pathways, leading to disease progression and aging would be very much welcome here.
No definite answer was given for blood type denote longevity!. Just said that there are changes with aging anf longevity has multufactoria! Just saved you some time,,,,thank you!!
I am O-negative and never getting sick even if everyone around are snizzing and coughing. And I am going to live a very long life. Why? It is a long story.
I'm also O-. I can't say that I've never gotten sick, but I do seem to be resistant to severe respiratory infections, especially as I get older. When I was a kid and younger adult I caught a cold at least once a year, but nowadays I often go several years in a row without catching one. Also, despite having never gotten a flu shot, I haven't caught the flu since I was a little kid decades ago. I'm not really convinced that this is due to my blood type, though.
@@glennallen496 Same here. Type O- and got every childhood ailment going, but as an adult, touch wood, I've been very lucky so far.
I’m O negative and had Lyme disease for nineteen years before I found out and after a long course of antibiotics seven years ago I seem to be recovered and it hasn’t come back.
@@Cooliemasteroz I recommend you a change to a carnivore diet. Lime disease and leaky gut syndrome are from plant proteins. I had psoriasis a few years ago. It is an autoimmune reaction on plant proteins.
Now it is all gone as I stopped to eat plant based food. No fruits, no vegs, no grains. I feel great in my 66. Details you may find on my UA-cam channel.
I found this very interesting in relation to the type O blood and lower pancreatic cancer risk...my mother was O and had tumors on kidney but none in pancreas...very unusual considering we have VHL...I dont have any renal or pancreatic issues but a CNS / brain issue instead and widespread subcutaneous growths on nerves...Im a different blood group again.
Bro you deserve way more views! Ty as always for covering longevity n aging
You mean she-bro.
@@Dirge4july "Bro" is now often used to address both "she's" & "he's".
Let food be your medicine. Eat fresh real food. That is avoid processed foods, sugar drinks, junk, highly processed foods....they are just junk.....why then treat yourself like a garbage bin. Water, rest, fresh air.....sleep. Move....and avoid sitting for to long. Be at peace within you...😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 lift weights 😮
Female age 88. O neg.
Thanks for the work on this interesting video.
Thanks! Interestingly, the Levine PhenoAge test which uses normal blood born markers to estimate biological age, gives a lot of weight to MCV (mean corpuscular volume) and RDW (RBC distribution width). As we get older these values get larger, especially RDW. Speculation, but routinely donating blood as we get older may be one way to slightly increase turnover of RBCs and thereby have a slightly, on average, younger population of RBCs, and other factors in whole blood. Also, keeping RDW youthful (lower) may be one way to aid microvascular circulation.
That is a very interesting. Perhaps the blood letting of the past had some benefit.
Great episode. Love this woman's vibes. Respect.
Just try being a horse with 7 blood types: A, C, D, K, P, Q, and U. Or a cow with 11: A, B, C, F, J, L, M, R, S, T and Z. Transfusion is almost impossible.
Do they have any 'universal' blood?
yes it does, all the kids messed up now with many things wrong ..dont mix rh pos. and rh neg...why they used to make you get a blood test before marrage.
do they affect glycanage?
Given that it is known people prefer to mate with those whose immune responses are different to their own, I looked up blood type and found a study which found we also have preferences by blood type. I didn't spend the time to decode the language and graphs to find the preferences, but they were described as "assortative mating on blood type".
A lovely soft voice in the narrator, but very hard for me the hard of hearing like myself. Thank, however, for this video and the information I could follow.
I had Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome as a baby and I'm O-neg.
I’m a Long Covid sufferer for over 2 years, blood type AB+ and I wonder if there is anything I can learn from this. I have recovered to the point of being able to exercise aerobically without problems but I experience crashing and burnout from cognitive or sensory overload. If anyone reads this and has any insight then please reply to this comment as I’m stuck. Thanks
The medical recommendation is to be fully vaccinated. The association between being unvaccinated or not boosted and long covid is strongly positive according to the findings. Nobody likes getting a shot, but neither I nor my MD spouse have ever been infected or ill from covid, and we are up to date on our covid shots. That makes us a minority of less than 10% to escape this disease here in the US.
@@wallacegrommet9343 I am fully vaccinated but still caught Covid. My question is not about vaccination but is about recovery from long Covid.
Well, you could detox, very much.
Also, no more jabb!🙄

_"The medical recommendation is to be fully vaccinated."_
So what? Who asked?
_"The association between being unvaccinated or not boosted and long covid is strongly positive according to the findings."_
So no causation.
_"Nobody likes getting a shot, but neither I nor my MD spouse have ever been infected or ill from covid, and we are up to date on our covid shots."_
I didn't catch covid and I didn't get any of the covid shots, so take your n=2 and shove it where the sun don't shine.
_"That makes us a minority of less than 10% to escape this disease here in the US."_
Well considering the covid vaccines don't confer immunity nor prevent transmission... your non-sequitur is just that.
I would start a low carb no sugar, no bread, no grains, no pasta, high protein diet, 2 meals a day and then one meal a day and do a 36 hour water fast 2 times a month, animal protein, animal fat, eggs and supplement magnesium glycinate.
Im O+ and never knew what that meant other than I'm a universal donor. Cool video!
O- is universal donor, although o+ can donate to all positive types.
O negative is the universal donor not O positive
@@peggygraham6129 yeah, I think I might be O-. I have to check my birth certificate I just remember it coming up last time I donate blood and I know I get a lot of emails about donating and such.
what the others said.
Plus, "universal donor" is only true for red blood cells that have been completely freed from all other blood components. For whole blood, you can only donate/receive your exact blood type!
Nice high school project. What was your grade?
It's O type or zero ?
Potato pot-ah-to

O neg blood has better results against many illnesses due to its thinness.
That statement doesn't make a lot of sense. You would have to explain what you mean by "better results" and "thinness" respectively.
I could not understand most of this.
I've seen a genetic basis for sexual orientation being linked to blood type, so a longevity connection to blood type wouldn't surprise me.
good luck on finding that study. I'm only flooded with half-related bullshit upon query.
I was referring to "Eye color, hair color, blood type, and the rhesus factor: exploring possible genetic links to sexual orientation" by Lee Ellis, Christopher Ficek, Donald Burke, Shyamal Das. If that's what you're asking.

I'm surprised there's no reference to susceptibility to alcoholism. That there is a link was established by UK civil service records decades ago.
Well... what is the link? Maybe you wanna let us into your wisdom.
are you rich yet?
The 3rd blood group is 0 ('zero'). not O. Children learn it in elementary school.
The USA has a massive population of blacks, they are 13% of the total number.
it stands for German "ohne" - without. So you are wrong, wise guy.
Waste of time. Why do you make a video headlined with a question, if you have no ability to even try to formulate an answer.
