    Hey friends, I was honored to sit down with the 'Groovemaster' Jerry Jemmott.
    Jerry is one of the greatest session bassists of all time and his style has majorly influenced modern bass playing. With credits ranging from BB King, to Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin and many more, his resumé is packed with the finest artists in Blues, Jazz, Soul and R&B.
    Jerry has a fascinating musical journey. He tells us about his early musical influences, discusses what he believes to be essential to his success, and talks working with King Curtis, BB King, Al Kooper, Eddie Gòmez, Jaco Pastorius and touring with Aretha Franklin.
    Jerry also shows off his favourite basses and amps, including the bass he used with BB King, and discusses several modifications me made to that bass throughout the years.
    I hope you enjoy the video! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing,
    Warren

      I, too, have had the greatest pleasure in my conversations with Jerry. He inspired me to make it happen, the bottom line to his music, the fabulous and unheralded work with his Souler Energy -- music that must be sought out and supported. Some of his best work ever and it is muscular and unbelievably FUNKY!

    WOW, if there's one bass player I'd LOVE to work with it would be Jerry! I'd love to sit back with a simple groove on the drums and just let him play.....OH MAN!
    Thanks so much for this experience Warren, great job as always.
    I've just sent a donation to Jerry's fundraiser, what a great system, it's going to be amazing. Might get his book too!

I also thought you did a marvelous job of asking great questions and then sitting back and letting Jerry talk. We all can learn so much from greats like this, Thank you!

    I also grew up around NYC, I am older than Jerry's 1980 ESP neck and was fortunate to get into a Jersey City studio circa 1968 at age 15. I can remember going up and down NYC knocking on doors of CBS, A&M, Atlantic, and others trying to get them to listen to our recordings. And the music stores, Manny's on 48th st. and dozens more up and down the street. I know now the path I took compared to the path that was being laid down. As we sometimes hate to admit, Momma was right all along! I took a long U-turn and went back to school and learned some upright bass, and polished my reading skills somewhat. Now that work is 20 years old... I know it is timeless like Jerry's bass lines and I am looking seriously to the future and bringing some of that soulful old school music to today's audiences that are now my grandchildren and friends!

      It would be nice is everyone could start with Mr.Jerry, an EMI plate, A few echoplex's, a few old RCA ribbons, a few U47's, an old transformer based console, some EPQ-1A's, some LA2A's, a 16 track 2", and a 1/2 inch 102. Then, and after that, migrate to a DAW, but one part at a time.

    Hi Warren, just found and subscribed to your channel. Only watched some recording training vids so far. Well done! Tx so much for giving back to we amateurs. I just wanted to give appreciation and respect. It's nice to see when someone's hard work, talent, and absolute passion come together to make them successfully living their dream! Also like to see another person passionate about Spitfires... maybe aviation or planes too with the B17 Parking sign? Want to let you know when I'm watching your UA-cam playlist on autoplay the vids aren't playing in lesson order like some other sites. Tx again! Best wishes.

    When I first started playing bass I bought a crazy not-quite-seafoam-green thing at a music store in Hong Kong that carried mainly obscure Asian brands. I had no idea what it was, despite endless searching on the internet, until just now. Very cool to see that it was designed for this bass legend and wasn't just a fluke.

Now since I did not see a way to contact Jerry on his website, would you please let him know that the shopping cart is not configured properly and nobody can purchase There's Music In Everyone! eBook (Revised Edition) because when you click the add to cart button you are directed to the PayPal home page instead of the item being added to the cart. All other items on the merchandise page function correctly. Plus the audio tracks in the There's Music In Everyone! eBook (Revised Edition) seem to be missing too. Hi Warren. Pointing out the Polytone amp made me curious. I don't think I have ever heard of them unless I somehow didn't take note enough of them when I looked through old bass player magazines, back in high school. After looking them up I was, of course, bombarded with so many past models. Which is the the model that Jerry was using in the video and are there any other legendary models in the past that stick out over others?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  7 років тому +1

      Hi Lazlo, great question! When I was a kid there was just one small combo that I remember that was out there! I always wanted one! I will have to check with Jerry what the exact model was! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
