Wow, this is probably the most impressive resto I have seen given the starting condition. Because the history, the story, and the provenance of the guitar, I don't even think this will take all that much of a hit in value. At least not over time. Tornados are a part of Americana and I think there are collectors who would pay a premium for this guitar. Collectors will always pay more for a good story.

This is so cool to me because it's a local story.
That gecko burst dude is TJ, my first guitar teacher at Josh's Guitar Shop in Pekin, IL. My current guitar teacher Damien (releasing his own music under the name Damien Crow on iTunes/Spotify) actually owns that Gecko Burst LP now and it appears in some of his songs. Getting a good look at that guitar inspired me to get my own LP, and that's how I found your UA-cam channel in the first place. Very cool to see this come full circle. LOL
And yeah, Washington was basically leveled. I know people who lived in hotels and trailers for a year or more while houses were rebuilt. Totally devastating. Neat to see something come out of it.

Wouldn't the decent thing have been to find the original owner - they couldn't live too far from there, and not many people have an early-1950's Les Paul. I'm surprised nobody thought of doing that, the owner likely lost many other things, so getting back their prized guitar might have been a huge psychological lift for them, but I guess we'll never know?

I know its likely not vintage correct, but I would have gone with an adjustable wraparound bridge to serve as a faux tuneomatic. Regardless it always makes me happy to see a vintage guitar brought back from the dead.

I bought that new silverburst custom, I needed a silverburst les Paul to go with my SG and Explorer and didn’t mind the headstock
