1976 WVU Football Highlights

The 1976 WVU season was the first after the departure of Bobby Bowden to Florida State and the elevation of former Offensive Coordinator Frank Cignetti to head coach.
The plaid suit is not to be missed!

How does WVU look this year in football? I know they've got a good group of recruits joining in basketball. Huggins had a bad year but that wont last long.
KU has brought in 19 juco transferrs, out of 26 recruits total. Also some Div 1 transfers that had to sit out last year will be starting. Most notably Jake Heaps QB (BYU) & his likely # 1 target Justin McKay WR (Okla). The Turner Gill era was a low point for KU, thankfully it's over.

Lots of new faces on the KU football team. Can't wait to see how it all comes together. I hear they've tried to make the travel a little easier on WVU this year. Huggins wasn't sounding happy about the travel in interviews. I guess he never sounds happy in interviews though, lol.

Bowden was a assistant and head coach at Wvu from 1967 until 1975 Wvu were in the Southern confrernce until 1968 but was playing as an indedendent for the Bowden head coaching era. so looking forward to visiting Lawrence this year :) smiles :)

I didn't know Bobby Bowden was at WVU. What conference were they in back then?
Welcome to the Big 12. Hopefully my beloved Jayhawks will provide some better competition next year in Lawrence.

I know you care about KU football so I'll tell ya they've finally built a track facility. Meaning (at some point) they'll be digging down the field to put extra seats where the track currently is. KU is the last team in the Big 12 to have a track around their football field.
Memorial Stadium is a WW1 memorial, one of the oldest west of the Mississippi. They've put a lot of money into renovations over the last 10 years or so. Still considered a "basketball school" though, with good reason.
