My theory is that he flipped the lenses around so he was still wearing the glasses but now he was the one looking at the outside and only Chloe could look at the inside. After all, angels self actuate and humans don’t so it doesn’t really make sense that she stole his mojo (his theory in the show) he subconsciously allowed her to access the inside of the glasses, much like he subconsciously allowed himself to be hurt when he’s around her
