According to marketing expert Gary Vaynerchuk, the best ideas come from one thing: listening.
Gary Vaynerchuk, the entrepreneurial force behind VaynerMedia and VeeFriends, explores the critical missteps businesses make in connecting with their customers, primarily their failure to adapt to consumer needs and their reliance on yesterday’s strategies. Vaynerchuk emphasizes the transformative - and often overlooked - power of caring and empathy in advertising. Great marketing is not just about bombarding people with ads; it's about making sure every message respects the consumer's time and is something they'd actually enjoy.
Despite the challenges of standing out in a crowded media landscape, Vaynerchuk remains confident in the power of authentic storytelling to connect with audiences. He stresses the importance of patience and a long-term vision in building a brand that resonates with consumers and leaves a lasting impact.

    About Gary Vaynerchuk:
Gary Vaynerchuk is a serial entrepreneur and serves as the Chairman of VaynerX, the CEO of VaynerMedia, and the Creator & CEO of VeeFriends. Gary is considered one of the leading global minds on what's next in culture, business, and the internet.
Known as "GaryVee," he is described as one of the most forward thinkers in business. He acutely recognizes trends and patterns early to help others understand how shifts in consumer attention impact the realities of the business world today. Gary's approach sits at the intersection of business and pop culture. He keenly understands how to bring brand relevance to the forefront. He is a prolific angel investor with early investments in companies like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Venmo, Snapchat, Coinbase, and Uber.
This year, Gary will unveil two new books. In his seventh book, "Day Trading Attention" (set to be published on May 21, 2024), he provides fresh insights into navigating the modern social media landscape. Gary's expertise guides readers on harnessing underpriced attention channels in the digital age. He emphasizes mastering storytelling in these arenas and highlights the "TikTokification of Social Media," where content relevance surpasses follower counts. Businesses can leverage this shift to enhance their brand and boost sales. "Day Trading Attention" equips readers with essential skills to succeed in today's dynamic digital world. Gary also announced his first children's picture book, based on his VeeFriends characters, titled "Meet me in the Middle" (set to be published on July 16, 2024). The picture book, which will prominently feature two VeeFriends characters, Eager Eagle and Patient Pig, delves into the emotional elements essential for nurturing children's empathy - a crucial skill for their future success.
Gary is an entrepreneur at heart - he builds businesses. Today, he helps Fortune 1000 brands leverage consumer attention through his full-service advertising agency, VaynerMedia, which has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Mexico City, London, Amsterdam, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur. VaynerMedia is part of the VaynerX holding company, which also includes Eva Nosidam Productions, Gallery Media Group, The Sasha Group, VaynerSpeakers, VaynerCommerce, and Tingley Lane Trading. Gary is the Co-Founder of VaynerSports, VCR Group, VaynerWatt, ArtOfficial, Resy, and Empathy Wines. He guided Resy and Empathy to successful exits - which he later sold to American Express and Constellation Brands, respectively. He also owns a Major League Pickleball team called the 5s, is part owner of a Big3 basketball team, and is an investor in the revival of the SlamBall League.
Gary's life ambition is to buy the New York Jets.

I don’t like throwing hate, I just want to understand one thing about Gary: years ago he was always preaching about family first and that his wife stood by him when he had nothing. Then all of a sudden he drops her and goes for the shiny young object? That’s when I stopped listening to him and lost all respect. I don’t think he ever explained why he dumped his family when he made it to the big leagues.

Soooo he paid you for marketing his book? Seriously: I watched a lot of GaryVee videos and I came to the conclusion, that nothing that he's doing is exceptional. He knows how to sell himself and his brand, he works a lot for this and he hustled his way up, as he was growing up in a certain environment. Selling that same hustling mentality to many young people is going to cause many social and psychological issues, that even he won't be able to fix with his ideas.
Plus, the question in the video title was never answered. Because he could have bought adidas. So what exactly made him buy this brand and why was he willing to pay the price? What problem does it solve for him?

Gary Vee does share some good ideas, but it's hard for many people to tell the good from the bad. They end up following him blindly, getting upset and angry when things don't work out as promised. A lot of young folks are trying to find their way, and they're slowly seeing that being all about work isn't the answer. Instead, finding a balance between work and life is key. Ever wondered why so many people are burning out? It's because living just to work, like what Gary Vee often talks about, isn't really a healthy way to live.

Hmm, I don't know him. I will have to research who he is because I see a lot of guys like him popping up everywhere and they all have podcasts. They all appear to be very similar in what they do but just with different names. They all do conferences with a lot of headcount, too, and I find that impressive. Motivational speaking seems to be a thriving industry. Reading the comments give me the impression that he's someone who is more of an investor/thought leader, rather than an inventor or creator and maybe that's where the negativity comes from because it's hard to celebrate another person's win when their output isn't tangible. It's just producing thoughts. Very interesting. So interesting that I might explore and exploit this industry of making money from motivating the unmotivated.

I love the topic marketing but I think Gary Vee isn't the right person to teach it on Big Think. He had his time, then he started to sell junk to people (which I find funny regarding the title). We are living in a world in which hustle until burnout is out and Gary Vee is promoting this lifestyle which I find is super dangerous for the younger generation.

Gary is absolutely the person to give marketing insights. He's at the forefront of the modern media landscape and is one of the most respected people in that field.
He's not "had his time", nor has he sold people junk.
Gary does not promote hustle until burnout behaviour.
Please take some time to properly consume some of his content and you'll see you have drastically misunderstood this man and what he's about.

@@sniitzel He has never promoted hustle til burnout behaviour. He did promote hustle behaviour but hasn't for a long, long time.
He stopped for the very reason BECAUSE it was being misunderstood and demonised.
His philosophy has *never* been to work insane hours every week and get no sleep. But that's the way the 'hustle' narrative went. That's what began being pushed. Hence why he stopped talking about it.
There's many videos where he explains this and many more where you can tell exactly the person he is.
He's the type of genuine guy that actually stays behind for HOURS after a conference / talk because he actually cares about his fans and wants to help them the best he can.
His new IP VeeFriends aims to encourage and push positive attributes to kids and adults alike through the form of something like Pokémon.
