Can't you just turn into a halfling for that extra boost before making potions or alchemy stuff?
You can get the one hireling who is a halfling for the nat 1 reroll. disguise self unfortunately does not provide racial bonusses.
I don't think using disguise self gives you racial bonuses. But getting the halfling hireling is an amazing idea that I missed, so thank you!
