The need to connect

  • This is a slightly different video from what I usually do.
    From time to time I feel the need to escape from the Matrix world we live in and connect with the real world, as it should be. Usually without a camera, but I want to share this to maybe influence more people to connect with the nature.
    Creating fire still gives a satisfaction as it has for the human rase for thousands of years. The magic in the flames and safety of the fire has comforted humans thru all time, and will still do in the time to come.
    Our brain is set up to create things to make life easier. In the modern world of today I feel we have reached a point where we have created so much around us to make life easier, that we don’t need to be creative anymore. I also belive that people who don’t need to solve challenges get more depressed. Going out with little gear helps boosting the creativity, and makes you happy for small achievements.
    In an environment like this, time does not matter. But in the “prison” of mortgage and salary, time is the prison guard. Unfortunately, most of us has to go to work to pay for a roof over our head, and not because we like the work. That is why small adventures like this are so important.
    I rarely feel alone in the nature, if you take it slow, open your eyes and mind, you will see it all over, life. And the sound of a river is not noice, it`s the sound of life and energy.
    Practical info:
    The fish trap/snare is shown in detail in my video: • Survival traps series ...
    The Bush fishing kit(hobo style) is shown in detail in my video: • Bush fishing kit
    The fishing net is made out of 60 feet /18 meters of 550 paracord only. And the net itself measures approx. 2,5 x 1 meter. It took me more than a day to finish.

    That snare did the job 👍. Once you've made a handful of snares you can keep them all and makes the setting up a lot quicker doesn't it if you've got 10 set up you've got a good chance of a filling breakfast 🙂🙂. Nice one fella , happy bushcrafting

    It was good to see that early knife in use.
    Tell me, do you still prefer the left hand sheath? I notice your wearing it on the right hand side?
    If you were to get another knife would you prefer left or right hand?
    Sandy

    • @NorwegianBushcraft
      @NorwegianBushcraft  5 років тому

      Thank you Sandy, The knife is still almost as good as new. Not as sharp as when it came from you, and a notch in the edge made by the user.. I put in on that side this day cause it was easiest to do with the belt, didnt have to take the belt almost off that way. I usually were it on left side.

    Done this many times since childhood, but I never boiled the fish - that's for seimølje or cod. Instead I swear to a frying pan, good butter (sætersmør), flour, salt & pepper for my lil trout and perch.
    Btw, is this from somewhere in Trøndelag?

    • @NorwegianBushcraft
      @NorwegianBushcraft  5 років тому

      Hi, yea I swear to frying them on a rock too. But survival wise, boiling is the thing. This is in Nordmøre, very close to Trøndelag yes.
