Village Youth Taro Project Ends With Feasting On Seafood (Stingray and Fish)🐠🇫🇯

- In this vlog we are out with the village youth group on their taro project. Today we are going to Yanuca Lailai Island and Yanuca Levu Island as we are helping Jekobe and Timoci set up their Taro Farm.
Therefore we have to leave our village and get on the fibreglass boat where we first arrive to Yanuca Lailai Island and set up Jekobes Taro farm. After we are done we move on to Timocis Taro Farm in Yanuca Levu Island.
After we finished at Timocis farm we are going to Yanuca Village for Lunch. Being in Yanuca Village is just like being in Navuti because Yanuca is our original village. Lunch is served with seafood.

Village life is hard work, but those life lessons is priceless. I admire watching y'all work the land with laughter and joy. Many islander youth here in America can't hold a candle to what y'all do on a daily. Hopefully the youth there know that what y'all have is more precious than the trappings of the modern world.

Me and my family really enjoy watching the way of life in Fiji I am also an islander from Samoa but was raised in Washington state here in America, we try to explain to our kids that they should feel privileged and thankful for the things they have now, our youths are slowly being pulled away from their culture with electronics and other gadgets. They would say is this what it's really like in the islands? I would only laugh and say if you only new😂 but keep putting up more videos for us to enjoy OH! you should invest in a drone to get videos of the whole village.. stay humble and stay blessed 🙌

In Fiji we call it "solesolevaki"
We usually plant and help out an individual farm and its a cycle
The next week they will help you out in your farm on weeding and planting and to the next person the nxt week and so forth
It can be a 5men or 10 men team
Work is done faster in this manner

@@SamoanFarmerwe have alot of taro breeds from samoa i use to collect different taro heads alot came from savaiian Samoans who married in fiji for donkey years they bought alot of different varieties so far atm 56 different types have been from samoa
@@yungming2046 wow 56 ?..good on you for collecting those taro tops..I used to do the same before I had a plantation, I grew it from the taro tops from the taro we buy at the market. That's another great way to propagate them. Good on you!
